Anyone else looking forward to GBBO starting again?

I know it won't be the same without Mary, Mel and Sue but it's still got cake!

I liked Peter as well - although, in all seriousness, anyone who thinks it's a good idea to put 5 teaspoonful of baking powder in a normal-sized cake really shouldn't be in GBBO. Likewise the guy who had no clue that a flourless cake requires the addition of air through beating the eggwhites. So funny seeing him chuck the first lot away, only to make exactly the same mistake again.
I think it's been mentioned on these threads before; they seem to practice positive discrimination in order to get a reasonable balance of the sexes, but they really do end up with some clots, nice though they might be.

Biscuits this week 🍪

Anyone else always fancy something sweet to munch whilst watching GBBO? I might have to get some Tunnocks caramel wafers to have this evening.

I made Cornish fairing the other day, they're definitely going on my regular list but sadly they didn't last long enough to accompany tonights episode!

Can't wait, DS is shattered and will hopefully be asleep by 8!

bookbook · 05/09/2017 18:57

I have my machine on record , and will start watching about 15 minutes in - will join you at the end! :)

RedBlu · 05/09/2017 19:06

I will be watching again but I am sure 100% sold on it. Ok, they haven't changed the general format but it's not the same without Mary, Mel and Sue.

Noel is a bit creepy, putting on that odd posh voice and Prue is quite hard to warm up to.

It is the familiar GBBO but it's not "right"

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 05/09/2017 19:51

I'm here back for another show.
Dp is sat gurning and muttering about Mel and sue but I like Noel and am hoping he will be more noelish as it progresses

FlaviaAlbia · 05/09/2017 20:01

DS sleeping, woohoo Grin

Noel is eating, I thought he was a fruitarian? Or was DH winding me up?

fourquenelles · 05/09/2017 20:02

I am just here for Noel dirty old woman emoji

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/09/2017 20:13

Noel could squeeze my melons Grin

Davros · 05/09/2017 20:16

I'm watching but still not sure. I don't think it's so much to do with the changes but the sneaking suspicion that it has run its course. I'm sorry but I can't stand the lisping old scouse bird

GorgeousLadyOfWrangling · 05/09/2017 20:18

Hello! What have I missed? Who made the jamcream shortbread ones?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/09/2017 20:20

Flo did ! Lots of lush biscuits . Sandi very funny this week.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/09/2017 20:20

Can't get overStacey's husband was the inventor of Asos

FlaviaAlbia · 05/09/2017 20:22

I really fancy the rhubarb and custard ones, don't like the look of the sandwich ones at all!

FlaviaAlbia · 05/09/2017 20:37

An ad for pom bears! GrinGrin

Dolly80 · 05/09/2017 20:38

Prue's not very warm is she. I never completely took to her on Great British Menu - she knows her stuff but I'm not sure she's a great tv presenter. I like Noels weirdness and Sandis lovely. Paul seems the same annoying twat

I like the bakers but, like most reality shows after a while, they're so conscious about being on TV...I like it a bit later on when they've warmed up so are more vulnerable and 'normal'

CaveMum · 05/09/2017 20:43

I've baked my own biscuits today. These are very easy and yummy if anyone wants a bash!

FlaviaAlbia · 05/09/2017 20:45

Oh, I like Prue, I think she's as good as Mary don't shoot me. I'd happily lose Noel though.

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 05/09/2017 20:55

I like Prue, Noel and Sandi. Like Flo don't like Sophie. Bit smug.

FlaviaAlbia · 05/09/2017 21:01

I think Steven is a definite candidate for star Baker this week, he's on a roll.

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 05/09/2017 21:05

He's amazing.

Backingvocals · 05/09/2017 21:07

Really like Prue. She has a nice turn of phrase and a nice presence

RosieLig · 05/09/2017 21:08

What's with the terrible voice over- "Sophie smiles from the back of the room". 😱😬

soupforbrains · 05/09/2017 21:08

Yes! Way to go Steven! That chess board was phenomenal obviously my love for him is propelling him to greatness

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 05/09/2017 21:08

What voiceover?
