Anyone else looking forward to GBBO starting again?

I know it won't be the same without Mary, Mel and Sue but it's still got cake!

I'm so excited for GBBO!! It wont be the same, but it could be just as good - and I will keep telling myself that until after the first episode!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/08/2017 20:29

I don't know how I feel about it to be honest, I can't stand Hollywood or fielding. But just seen the ad and the cakes look amazing- so may have to tune in just for research purposes!

FlaviaAlbia · 28/08/2017 20:32

I'm really dubious about Noel Fielding, he seems like a pratt but I'm going to watch the first episode anyway to give it a go. Probably on catchup to skip the ads though!

TizzyDongue · 28/08/2017 20:33

Think I'll try it.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 28/08/2017 20:36

I have my doubts about it, especially as I don't really like Paul Hollywood but I'll give it a go. Plus bake off starting means we're moving into that latter part of the year that I love so I can't help but get excited about it starting.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/08/2017 20:56

I'm looking forward to it more than I expected...

augustusglupe · 28/08/2017 21:11

I'm looking forward to it. I didn't think I would be, but I saw the trailer and it looks good. So glad they've kept to the original format too.

ArseholesOnToast · 28/08/2017 21:14

I too find Noel Fielding a tit and Paul was my least favourite out of the original four.

Yes the cakes in the trailer (not the animation one with Contestant Paul's bread lion) do look good.

Yes to catch up. Ads have no place on the Bake Off.

Gotta try it...have watched the last few years with a friend and he says we have to record it and watch it later so it doesn't give C4 the ratings recognition!

Michael Grade was on R4 the other day saying what an utter disaster C4 buying GBBO is going to be...we will wait and see!

expatinscotland · 28/08/2017 21:24

Nope. I can't abide Noel or Paul.

LottieDoubtie · 28/08/2017 21:26

I agree I'm going to give it a go. Although I can't bare Noel Fielding. (Only comedian who I've just walked out of one his -smaller scratch 'shows' because it was so shite I no longer cared about being rude).

We will see. Watching series one on good food now for nostalgia

MadisonAvenue · 28/08/2017 21:26

Not sure that I can be bothered with it, I'm not keen on any of the presenters and then there're the ads. Yes, I know there's catch up but I'm pretty crap at remembering to actually watch things if I don't sit and watch when they're broadcast I'm just watching something I recorded before Christmas

YellowLawn · 28/08/2017 21:27

I'll give it a go.
love sandi and pru came across well on gbm.

bookbook · 28/08/2017 21:29

I will be watching on catch up I think. If I start watching about 20 minutes in, I should beable to watch it and finish at the right time

Can only give it a go!

Grawp · 28/08/2017 21:29

For some reason I thought it wouldn't be the exact same format - eg not in the tent and a different layout, I'm not sure why!

I've just watched the trailer and it's v weird seeing Sandi & Noel where Mel & Sue should be...

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/08/2017 21:31

I agree Grawp - hadn't realised the format would be the same, makes it even weirder really!

YellowLawn · 28/08/2017 21:32

cloody catch up is demanding signing in though.
bbc iplayer much more user friendly.

bookbook · 28/08/2017 21:33

well, I will do it by recording it on the hard drive, then just starting to watch so far in , and ff through the adverts :)

Grawp · 28/08/2017 21:34

Yeah it's really strange Holly!

I think you have to have an account for iPlayer these days Yellow. In other ways it's much easier to use though I agree.

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 28/08/2017 21:53

No, we won't be watching. Don't like Noel Fielding, can't abide Prue Leith and Paul was my least favourite of the BBC team. Shame, it was always one of our favourite programmes.

WipsGlitter · 28/08/2017 21:57

I can stand Noel F. But I'm torn. I might give it a go.

I think Pru Leith is ok. Bit schoolmarmy.

jay55 · 28/08/2017 22:16

I feel guilty that I'm looking forward to it. Like I'm cheating on Mary.

darksideofthemooncup · 28/08/2017 22:48

Definitely watching, one of my friends is on it!

Crinkle77 · 29/08/2017 15:30

TV critic, Kevin O'Sullivan was singing its praises on The Wright Stuff on Friday. He said that he thought it would be a disaster but in fact it is a triumph so might not be that bad.
