CAUTION - HERE BE DRAGONS (PROBABLY) AND SPOILERS!

THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSION OF SEASON 7, EPISODE 7 "THE DRAGON AND THE WOLF"

Come and discuss the very last episode in the penultimate series, airing August 27th at 2am UK time! Don't read the thread if you want to avoid finding out what happens in Season 7 but also Seasons 1-6.

Please avoid discussing leaks and production details for Seasons 7 and 8 but speculate away on what we have learnt from the new episodes and what it might mean for the rest of the Season and the ultimate winner(s) of the Game of Thrones.

OP posts:

Gendry is still running.... Gendry Gump.

MehMehAndMeh · 28/08/2017 16:38

If Cersei is pregnant that could well be a motivating factor behind Euron killing her. He finds out and she rants at him that she'd never marry him she was just stringing him along because he could never be trusted. So he decides fine and shows her exactly how much he can't be trusted and decides to rule over Kings Landing anyway so that when the end comes we really want him gone just like Ramsay Bolton.

So much foreshadowing Dany is going to end up pregnant by Jon. He didn't want another bastard child in the world and he just so happens to decide to bonk his aunt just as the audience finds out he isn't a bastard after all. Unfortunately does that mean we will see Dany go out with the damp squib Targaryen curse of dying in childbirth?
Which then means it will be Jon and not Dany that leads the final assault on Kings Landing.

I like the Bran Nights King theory. He decides he has to become the necessary evil to wake humanity up to what it's doing to itself. The powers of the Nights King and Bran are converging a lot. So, yeah perhaps Bran does warg back in time to that hapless soul the children of the forest decide to stick dragon glass into. Of course it would mean he would have to die in the present to become stuck in the past. It would explain how come he knew 3 dragons were going to turn up at Eastwatch and just so happened to have a load of chains and 3 spears with him.

TheSecondOfHerName · 28/08/2017 16:55

I think the dragon is a white walker rather than a wight:

  1. The night king had to touch him to reanimate him. This is not true of wights.
  1. He suddenly developed the glowy blue eye thing, like that baby the white walkers 'turned' in the ice circle.
Mivery · 28/08/2017 16:57

I wouldn't assume that anyone we haven't seen die is actually dead. Holding out hope for my man Tormund.

Wonderflonium · 28/08/2017 17:04

I think Gendry must be at Dragonstone mining and forging weapons. At least I hope he wasn't at Eastwatch.

Mustang27 · 28/08/2017 17:07

I loved it.

I'm so relieved about the stark sisters, I wasnt sad about LF at all he got everything he deserved.

I just can't see a happy ending with that army.

Sam and Bran were great together.

runwalkrun · 28/08/2017 17:11

I can't believe the next series could be the last.
they musn't finish it. They just MUSN'T
It's too good.
Yeah I know everything must end eventually.
But this is different.

They can't, can they? Sad

If loads of people petition them, maybe they won't? hopeful

runwalkrun · 28/08/2017 17:14

You'll have to excuse me.
I'm sleep deprived on account of staying up most of the night to watch it.

runwalkrun · 28/08/2017 17:16

Sam and Bran were great together.

Did anybody notice their little
'Crocodile Dundee' moment?

''Did you see that in one of your visions?
''No'' shows paper message.

SuperStormborn · 28/08/2017 17:16

it will be the last season unfortunately. But there's loads of talk of spinoffs in the works, so that'll keep the legacy going

Libitina · 28/08/2017 17:18

I ended the episode sat on the edge of the sofa with my mouth open Shock

runwalkrun · 28/08/2017 17:18

Why make it the last season?
The ratings are great.
Every second person I spoke to today is watching GoT.
X that by everybody in the world!

I think they need to have a rethink.

MineKraftCheese · 28/08/2017 17:21

They need to do a prequel series! I need to see a young Jaime killing the mad king.

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 28/08/2017 17:23

They are following the story outlined by GRRM. It has to end when his story ends. They have cut too many of his storylines to extend the series any further.

D&D want rid of GoT so they can move on to their Confederate series. They will not be involved in the spin-offs.

SoPassRemarkable · 28/08/2017 17:23

I think they will do a prequel first as the story is already written.

Then a while later I bet they do something set after the next series.

BossyBitch · 28/08/2017 17:34

The un-dragon is cleary a wight. He's already falling apart, e.g. he has holes in his wings. I was actually wondering how he managed to fly with those as I was watching.

BossyBitch · 28/08/2017 17:36

Talking of which, surely if he deteriorates further he'll have to hop along the ground and will only be useful as a huge flame thrower.

I personally quite enjoy the idea of a blue fire breathing dragon hopping along a trail like a running chicken. Never going to happen of course. Grin

FindingNemoandDory · 28/08/2017 17:40

Was anyone else surprised that nobody seemed to have raised concerns about the possibility of the dead dragon coming back? Was it because they thought the wights couldn't get in the water to get him? (Guess it is reasonable not to expect they'd have great big chains though!)

I think if I were one of the group I'd be like "AIBU/irrational to worry about an undead dragon?" Grin

Straycatblue · 28/08/2017 18:22

I also want to know where Gendry is. Most likely squashed under the wall but thought it strange that they showed scenes with Tormund & Beric but not him. Unless he went back to Dragonstone with Team Targ on the love boat post wight capture.

I was worried when Bronn & Pod left the negotiations before they started , thinking some treachery was afoot but Ive read elsewhere that its in Lena's contract that she won't appear in scenes with Jerome since they had a previous romance that ended badly.

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 28/08/2017 18:34

Gendry is probably tending to some big ass blisters

Trills · 28/08/2017 18:36

Is Sam better at communicating with Bran because he's the first one to say "I don't know what that means"?

Maybe Bran would like to be a bit more fucking helpful but he finds communication difficult because he finds it hard to remember what it's like not to know everything.

Trills · 28/08/2017 18:38

Rheagar looked SO MUCH like Viserys.

InvisibleCities · 28/08/2017 18:41

"You will never walk again, but you will fly." Maybe as the Raven and also on dragon-back!

Next season will be the season of reunions for Arya - Jon, the Hound, Gendry. Presumably they'll all arrive at Winterfell together?

I was irritated when Theon got repeatedly kneed in the not-penis and smiled like he felt nothing. Did Ramsay painstakingly remove every nerve from his groin along with his dick? It would still have hurt...

And the wig budget continues to be a huge blind spot for the show. All that money on CGI and they recycle Viscerys' wig for his brother Grin

This ep was fun, I still feel they flew through it all at postscript speed though.

crazymissdaisy · 28/08/2017 18:43

I love that AIBU undead dragon question, I think a game of thrones mumsnet would be great! " my articulate DS12 is suddenly saying nothing but hold the door. WIBU to blame this on the time travelling DS of the lord of the manor?".

Trills · 28/08/2017 18:46

No Qyburn, you do NOT get to play with the undead hand. Nope. We didn't come all this way just to bring you a toy.
