CAUTION - HERE BE DRAGONS (PROBABLY) AND SPOILERS!

THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSION OF SEASON 7, EPISODE 7 "THE DRAGON AND THE WOLF"

Come and discuss the very last episode in the penultimate series, airing August 27th at 2am UK time! Don't read the thread if you want to avoid finding out what happens in Season 7 but also Seasons 1-6.

Please avoid discussing leaks and production details for Seasons 7 and 8 but speculate away on what we have learnt from the new episodes and what it might mean for the rest of the Season and the ultimate winner(s) of the Game of Thrones.

There's all the Dorne/Martell stuff too. Quentyn is dead. Arianne now knows she was betrothed to Viserys. Marcella is still alive but has lost an ear.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/08/2017 15:18

If Brienne changed her mind and agreed to track down Jaime, is she betraying him to LSH? That doesn't seem like her! I can't remember at all what happened in the show. Also, Pod seemed pretty dead.

AryaUnderfoot · 30/08/2017 15:24

Pod was left hanging but there's no evidence that he actually died. That type of hanging takes a long time to kill someone. My guess is she's going to try to cook up some rescue attempt for Pod and Hyle Hunt with Jaime on the way to Lady Stoneheart.

Either way, I don't think Brienne and Jaime are going to die at this point.

I lost patience with trying to make sense of Cersei's motivations and I suspect it's just poor writing. If her ultimate aim was just to lie baldly and get them off her back, why all the to and fro about trying to extract a promise of neutrality from Jon, storming off etc

IKWYM. I suppose you could say she was a) testing the waters to see where Jon's loyalty lay and b) trying to make her eventual promise seem more realistic by refusing to give it immediately. But even so, it was sloppily written, I agree.

JonSnowPatrol · 30/08/2017 15:45

Why did they make the tv series so different from the books?

What do people make of Bron ushering Pod off to have a drink, followed by pointed close ups of Brianne and Tyrion looking worried and then a lingering shot of them walking through the door together. Was it just supposed to add to the general sense of tension or are we meant to think some sort of trap was being laid?

AryaUnderfoot · 30/08/2017 15:51

Skip to 1:25 to avoid all the preamble about Gilbert Farwind. This is a pretty good summary of many of the points raised on this thread.

I love Cersei described as Homeless Joe

BrawneLamia · 30/08/2017 15:51

Just watched last night. I need to rewatch the end as I was too distracted by Jon snow's peachy bottom Blush

iklboo · 30/08/2017 15:58

It's because Lena Headey & Jerome Flynn won't appear on the same set together so they have to create reasons to keep them apart.

AryaUnderfoot · 30/08/2017 16:04

iklboo I'd completely forgotten about that.

(Bangs head on desk)

Getout21 · 30/08/2017 16:11

I need Kits bum workout routine!

Getout21 · 30/08/2017 16:11

Hate!

Getout21 · 30/08/2017 16:50

Grin Thanks Ayra - tsk tsk all very petty

Lizzzar · 30/08/2017 17:09

I admit that I haven't read the books properly( I intend to at some point) but I'm glad that a possibly genuine Aegon has been left out of the TV shows. I'm not sure what it would add, and as a plot point it does seem similar to Perkin Warbeck.

TheOtherGirl · 30/08/2017 20:55

Is there anyway I can rewatch past episodes on YouTube or something like that? Does anyone have a link please?

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 30/08/2017 21:05

You could always try scouring your local charity shop for past seasons on DVD. I think MN is bound to remove links to any less than legal websites where you could watch old series.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 30/08/2017 21:09

Actually my local library has most past series available to borrow on DVD.

OlennasWimple · 30/08/2017 21:14

I can watch all the past series through Amazon Prime

TheOtherGirl · 30/08/2017 21:41

We have Amazon Prime. Thank you Smile

Mner · 30/08/2017 21:54

Arya thanks that makes sense. Sorry I posted, then was out most the day!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 30/08/2017 22:47

As a Littlefinger fan, I'm going to start whispering a fewnames before going to bed - it's worth a shot Grin

Arya Stark A Girl
Sansa Stark
Bran Raiiiven Stark
Yohn Royce

On the up side, I doubt I'll miss him much in season 8 as the actor'll be in it quite often I should think. Wouldn't it be hilarious awful if someone re-kills 'him' in season 8?!

On that note - is there any explanation other than 'it's magic' as to how a Faceless Man gets the height right? Littlefinger must have a foot on Arya. How's that going to work?

Trills · 31/08/2017 08:11

It's magic

At least there IS magic on this show, until Face/Off.

MarvellousMonsters · 31/08/2017 08:43

I find it interesting that the actors feel very differently about how their characters will react to finding out they're closely related.

jonsnowsbuttocks · 31/08/2017 08:59

I can't see anything but Dany being alright with the coupling on the incest basis, not sure how Jon will take it. I'm not sure there is going to be enough time for romance though in next season plus one of them is going to die if not both. I can't imagine there being many characters left at all in the end Sad
