I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

Wobbly start from Rafa, but then business as usual. Not sure, but think he might play Dogs next, who has beaten him before, but we'll see.
Monfils had a difficult match.

Bottom half of the draw really open now- if Cilic doesn't go through to the end there will probably be a surprise finalist in there.
Shapavalov plays Edmund later.

I've lost track of the women a bit.

Just seen that Cilic is playing Schwartzman. I like Schwartzman- he makes himself look shorter with his baggy shorts. He will look tiny next to Marin.

Diego has had a pretty good year, so he might fancy his chances.

And Schwartzman is indeed about to pull off a big upset, but the look of things.

I hope Diego can get a good run- means there will be a first time finalist from the bottom of the draw now.

I've just read that Serena Williams has given birth to a baby girl. No name has been announced yet. Congratulations to her & her partner. I wonder if she will be ready to come back for the Australian Open - it might depend on how much sleep she's getting

Took me a while to work out who Kylie was.

I must have been looking at the wrong bit of the draw(I always use the printable one, and it's hard to see) because Rafa is actually playing Mayer. Which might be better.

Am worried for Roger- although usually when I'm rough matches, he wins them 6-0 6-1 6-3. So what do I know??

Roger on much too late for me, sadly - will have to keep fingers and toes crossed for him

Delpo has won his first set. I love him. I think if he gets to the semi finals (havingpossibly beaten Roger)he will come up against Rafa, though... and then I'm not sure how I will feel. I might actually be inclined to let Delpo win- so long as he wins the final too

Just watching Rafa's match - this is the first chance I've really had time to watch the us open this year. All of Rafa's previous matches have been on in the middle of the night - he's looking very nice in pink!

Roger and Rafa don't seem to be playing at their best - bit worried about rogers back although he is 36 now and 2 five set matches will be hard on him.

Did delpo get through his match? Not sure who I would want to win if he played Rafa (probably Rafa)

Why does John McEnroe mispronounce everyone's name - his version of dogopolov is interesting ...

Fizzy I think McEnroe does it on purpose . It really winds me up.

Oh dear - yes I'm rethinking my plan of staying up to watch the match now but hate the waking up in the morning wondering if Rafa has won or not.

Don't think Roger will like the hanging around waiting to go on court - he will probably be ready for his bed (like me!)
