I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

I think his back has been a problem,for a few weeks, and the match the other day won't have helped at all. He will have wanted a straightforward first round.

That said, he can't carry on forever. However much he wants to. This has been a fairy tale year. But maybe , it''s one tournament too far?

Youzhny won't be popular if he beats him.
They might have forgiven Tiafoe, being an American.

Youzhny is playing like a completely different player now. It's like they come on court expecting to lose, and when they are winning, suddenly they remember how to play. And then some.

To be honest, I'm not a Roger fan really, and I'm so tired of the commentators gleefully writing off Rafa every time he loses early (and forgetting all the times all the other big names have also done the same same)that I'd quite like an upset

aw, I love Roger - but he's getting old now, and I haven't found a new favourite yet out of the youngsters

I haven't found a favourite, favourite. I like Zverev, and Shapovalov is very good (even if he beat Rafa recently). I like Raonic, even though he's older, and Thiem. There are none that I feel I must watch their match- the way I might stay up to watch Rafa. But that might come with time.

Roger player Lopez next. That could be very, very tricky. It was either him or Verdasco- neither a great draw, given that Fed isn't 100%, I don't think.
