New thread ,as we are very close to the end of the other.

I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

I've just sat down to check the sxores and it says the match has been suspended??

Just seen on twitter that it's raining- that's not great for Rafa, who obviously prefers it to be dry and hot.

So the crap British weather has made it's way to the continent then!

Something tells me from the score , that even a damp Barcelona isn't going to stop Rafa.

I think you’re right Raahh - Rafa is looking pretty unstoppable. Feel a bit sorry for the young Greek guy but he’s done well to get to the final.
I would like to see a good competitive match at some point but nobody seems to be coming close to Rafa on clay.
Thiem seems to have gone a bit off the boil recently.
At least the sun’s come out now in Barcelona Smile

He's done very well, Tsitsipas. (It's not over yet though, I suppose Grin)

Well done on getting his name right! Grin His name wasn’t up on the tv screen when I was typing and I didn’t want to get it wrong!

Raahh · 29/04/2018 16:20

(I might have it saved as a cut and paste job Wink)

Good timing the end of this toutnament really, as we are finally getting to the end of the thread. In some ways , the US open feels like yesterday though (it coincided with dd1 starting secondary, and I can't believe how quickly that has gone!).

I can spell Tsitsipas and not type tournament Grin

Grin Tsitsipas has avoided the bagel and had a couple of break points against Rafa’s serve.

The us open does seem a long time ago - wonder if Murray and Djokovic will ever regain full fitness? I’m not that keen on either of them but feel that we’re missing out a bit on the competive matches at semi and final stages.

Raahh · 29/04/2018 16:40

No, I've never been a Djok or Murray fan, but it does feel like we are missing something (maybe not Murray on clay, but certainly Novak). Novak's demise has been extraordinary really, probably as much mental as physical, and I do wonder about him coming back- but both Rafa and Roger had their periods where things didn't go well. But Novak's seems to be worse somehow. He had one of the best years ever- by any players standards in 2015- and since winning the French in 2016, hasn't been able to do anything right.

Andy has said he will play a couple of challengers before the grass season, which will be interesting.

Well done Rafa!

Yay!

Week off and then Madrid. Grin.

Vamos Rafa. Tsitsipas seems like a nice lad, well done to him getting that far.

Raahh · 29/04/2018 16:56

It's a good result for him- even if the score line doesn't look great. He's in good company. Rafa has form for making even the best players look like amateurs in finals- especially at the French.

Just had to drag my DS1 in to translate Rafa’s speech for me! Bit of a waste of champagne - some of the ball boys were trying to get a swig as Rafa squirted it round.

I agree that Djokovic’s decline has been spectacular - he seemed unbeatable when he won the French open.

Will be watching Murray’s comeback with interest.

See you all for Madrid Smile

Raahh · 29/04/2018 17:12
Grin

Rafa's speeches are always sweet.

11 titles. In Monte Carlo and Barcelona. That's a record that will stand for a while. Grin

I love the idea of the ball boys swigging the champagne Grin
