New thread ,as we are very close to the end of the other.

I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

Sad about Halep - heard Sharipove saying she took strength from the crowd - surely I didn't hear that right?

Raahh · 29/08/2017 22:03

Yes, it's looking much better now. Grin

Shrieky is deluded. I doubt the crowd wanted her there. Any more than the crowd at the athletics wanted Justin Gatlin to win. Hmm

Whoop!

He did well. His serve is looking better. Moya has been a brilliant addition to his team.

bookbook · 29/08/2017 22:15

good on him !

bookbook · 29/08/2017 22:16

ooh - Roger on next by looks -

Raahh · 29/08/2017 22:23

Just seeing the player who beat Kerber. Kerber really isn't that consistent- she seems to go from hero to zero really quickly.

well, the live stuff has stopped for the night , so will have to wait and see how Roger fares .

Raahh · 30/08/2017 09:48

Bit of a scary opener for Roger, taken to 5 sets by Tiafoe. Don't think he was expecting that. Although Tiafoe is one of the new-breed of American players that is starting to break through. He beat Zverev (Sascha) in Cinci, recently I think.

I hope the weather is better today. Or they will end up getting a bit behind.

Delpo is scheduled to play 6pm-ish UK time, so looking forward to that (if that is shown on Eurosport).

Grrr. They are showing Kyrgios, (surprise). So I watched Dimitrov instead. I turned over, and it looks like Nick has been up to his old tricks again, as I heard McEnroe referring to 'being in a funk' and 'histrionics'. Kyrgios has lost the first set to Millman. John is still trying to big him up, so business as usual Hmm.

Come on Millman.

OP posts:
Raahh · 30/08/2017 18:12

Ha! John has just said Kyrgios can beat anyone. The other commentator has said 'beat anybody or lose to anybody' Grin.

OP posts:
Raahh · 30/08/2017 18:27

So he has now won the next set 6-1. I'm sure he just pissed about. Can't stand him.

And I want to watch Delpo.

OP posts:
Raahh · 30/08/2017 20:18

Excellent win for Millman. I really think Kyrgios has no respect for his opponents- even when they are one of his compatriots.

Now come on Delpo. It's a pretty flat match. The commentary is very dull, and there is no atmosphere at all.

And I'm finding myself very amused (after my recent back trouble) that voltarol sponsor the US open on eurosportGrin. Seems a bit like tempting fate...

Listening to Greg/Annabel etc now re Kyrgios. Apparently, now it's his shoulder... I don't think they believe him.

And I've been reading a lot and lot's of people are finding the spectators rude and noisy. Glad it's not just me. They all just wander about , eating , drinking, talking. Pisses me off. I really noticed last year for the first time, but it's not new at the US Open. It's definitely cultural, and doesn't happy anywhere else- even in Australia, where the Aussie Army fans are all pretty annoying, imo, they know how to behave during a match.

Ugh. Shrieky is on.

And she is wearing a diamond studded dress. Naff.

Ahh bless you Raahh I haven't the time energy or eurosport to follow the tennis properly right now, but you are making up for it.

Hugo it is keeping me sane.Grin. I am trying to put off all the things I need to do before the DC go back to school, and it's been a rubbish holiday. So I'm enjoying the distraction! Grin

Shapovalov beat Tsonga in straight sets- I'm sad about J o Willy, but not surprised by the result, after Shap beat Rafa the other week. He's having a great year. Definitely one to watch. -

But Sascha Zverev is out, which is a bit of a blow and becoming a pattern in slams. He's been doing really well on the tour, but has not got further than the 4th round in a slam .

OP posts:
Raahh · 31/08/2017 10:10

Bet Murray wishes he was playing now- hardly anyone left in the bottom half of the draw! Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 31/08/2017 18:42

Sat watching dd2 at goalie training, so am checking scores on my phone. Dogs looks like he might be about to upset Berdych. Which would be a result for him. Not that he hasn't beaten big names before ( Rafa for one), but he's not had a great year.

Delpo back in action. I hope he has a more interesting match.

Rafa not due to play until the early hours UK time, so I will have to hope I wake up to a positive result. Not sure when Roger is playing.

Roger up after the Pliskova match- the number 1 seed has lost the first set 6-2Shock

Raahh · 31/08/2017 19:54

Dimitrov in trouble. 2 sets down against Rublev, another 19 year old nextgen favourite.

OP posts:
Raahh · 31/08/2017 20:31

Delpo through, Dimitrov on his way out. And Dogs beat Berdy.
