New thread ,as we are very close to the end of the other.

I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

I like plainer shirts- I didn't like the black and white zebra print stuff that loads were wearing in Australia (including Roger)- gave me a headache . Think it was a Nike thing.

At least Serena's absence means we are spared any wacky outfits with spare 'sleeves' .

I am still pretty outraged a how empty the place seems to be. This would have been the Murray match- and in all honesty, I don't think that would have made much difference to the attendance, really. I know it's a big stadium, but still.

And Ferrer has lost

Is it a much bigger stadium than RG and Wimbledon?

Konta seems not to be serving well - down in the 2nd

Tsonga is 2 sets up and up in the third I see - I do like him

Andy needs to go have surgery, have a baby and come back next year. Pity about the draw though - politics no doubt. I think we might see a breakthrough from lower down the pecking order - either that or Roger will just run away with it .

BookI'm not sure about RG- Philippe Chatrier is massive, but it looks bigger than Centre court- might be wrong though.

Little I agree Murray needs to take time out. And I don't think hips hips heal over night. I'm not a fan of mind games, and I think that is what his camp are playing. Be honest about his injuries, or shut up about them. But I'm not a fan.

I love Tsonga- he's a player, like Ferrer, who I would have liked to see win a slam.

Cilic is through. Bit scrappy towards the end though.

Very pleased Muguruza is through. And also Kvitova.

I'm hoping Halep thrashes Shriekypova.

Aww, Cilic being interviewed now. I do like Marin. I still feel for him , being so distraught in the Wimbledon final.

Hi all. Can't believe this has started already. And I didn't realise before now that there were so many pre-tournament tournaments.

A shame about Andy, but maybe he thought he'd be able to pull through and it just didn't come to that. At least he didn't do it after the tournament had started, like all those people at Wimbledon...
