New thread ,as we are very close to the end of the other.

I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

I had to go out for a while. Brr, it's cold out there. Managed to sort out the TV but as it depends on wifi it can lag a bit or just freeze sometimes. Saw the last few minutes of Grigor looking pretty in pink. Must have been a good match.

Qui Coco was funny.

Jane it was good, but odd. Grigor seemed to disappear for bits of it. Taking nothing away from McDonald- for someone who has only ever played futures/challengers, he played really well.

Del po, Stan, Roger all in action tomorrow. Can't watch much as it's my mum's birthdat, and we are out for lunhc. So I have to walk dogs etc and not sit around watching tennis all morning.

And it is cold.
It was the thunder and lightning the other day night that was a bit odd. .

He's bit worried about the up coming heat wave though- and has been asking the tournament organisers what their plans are (re the roof etc).It is going to get very hot for the players scheduled to play in the afternoon. He's worried about players retiring because of the heat (which has happened before).

Of course, it's unlikely to affect Roger - I'm sure all his matches are scheduled for the evening session.

rather like Wimbledon where all his matches were on Centre

I'm freezing here. And it's not even that cold. I took the dog out, and thought my fingers might drop off. But it's the freezing rain/hail that I hate. The dog is not sat on my feet like a hot water bottle.
I need to sort myself out. I'm going out for lunch, for my mum's birthday. I don't really want to move.

Bet Dimitrov wonders what he's done to annoy people, 3rd seed, pushed by McDonald the other, and now, afternoon match, in the heat, and being given a bit of match against Rublev, one of the 'good' young players(although I think Grigor has just got the crucial break now).

Aww ,Rublev looked a bit upset near the end.
Grigor needs to be careful- he's not playing nearly as well as he needs to. He has had two lucky escapes really, despite the scorelines.

had to go to the shops straight fromthe school run , but needn't have worried. looks like business as usual for Nadal.

The Tsonga/Kyrgios match is close- sadly gone Nick's way in the set tie break- come on Jo-Willy!

Tsonga is rattled by something or someone in the crowd. He lost the third set tie break- I'm not sure what is going on. I think there is a heckler in the crowd. There were some noisy idiots during the Rafa match. It's not as bad as the US open. but I've noticed the crowds are wandering about more, and noisier than elsewhere.

Clearly, Mac wants Kyrgios to win. As usual. Obviously he sees a lot of himself in him the brat And the Umpire seems not to be on Jo-Willy's side.

So, Tsonga is getting abuse form the crowd, and Tsonga has been told not to say anything back by the umpire, and to keep quiet. Jo -willy is saying 'why should he'. I agree, it's up to the umpire to get rid of the spectator, surely? Why should they be allowed to abuse the player?

It's my favourite player, Stefan Edberg's birthday today. I should so have been Mrs Edberg.

not had chance to get a to a tv yet but Del po struggling against Berdych in the first set. He wasn't fully fit the other day. Will be shame if he loses this.

And in other news, Sascha Zverev has been beaten by Chung. I wish I had seen that.

They have taken the Del Potro match off one of the only 2 Eurosport channel I have. To put bloody Sharapova on.

Glad to see Kerber thrashed Shrieky (who is making a lot of noise) in the first set.

Djok is having treatment. But he is winning.

Shrieky looks a bit off the pace doesn't she. She's still as loud as ever though.

I'm watching Djok- which is not something I usually do- as the noise is horrendous. A d I can't stand Maria.

Djok seems to be cruising, despite injury. Do you think he's back to top form Raahh?

Majestic it's hard to tell. He's played so little- I think the biggest problem will be people assuming he is the player he was last year. And that's dangerous, because I think he's mentally getting a little stronger.

He will end up being the only real threat to Roger in his half at this rate.
