New thread ,as we are very close to the end of the other.

I'm in denial that it is nearly September.

I am looking forward to Flushing Meadows. I feels like ages ages since I was able to 'watch' any tennis.

Rafa's match against pouille was bit tough, he has been beaten by him before, but onwards and upwards .

Delpo has Dimitrov next I think.

Raonic has suffered another injury setback, I feel really sorry for him. He had such a great year last year-it looked liked he was finally going to win the big tournaments. Like Delpo, and Rafa too though, Milos has had a number of injuries from early on that have set him back for long periods. Must be really frustrating.

Rafa playing Isner now, in Beijing. Big servers are always tricky for him.

Rafa is through to he final against Kyrgios, so Vamos Rafa!

I might have already posted that on the wrong thread! Grin

Yay go Rafa!!! Just got to see a small bit and Kyrgios was up to his usual moaning at the umpire. Even the usually fawning Sky commentators are getting fed up of him now.

Raahh · 08/10/2017 16:21

I'm really pleased he won- more so because it was against Kyrgios. Didn't get chance to 'watch', but was refreshing my phone whilst I ironed Grin.

Raahh · 10/10/2017 13:37

Kyrgios out in the first round in Shanghai.

That's a shameWink

Delpo has won his first 2 matches, Rafa and Roger due to play later. Tricky match for Roger, though against Schwartzman, (who I have grown quite fond of over this year Grin) who has had a very good year, and has some of the best service return stats (behind Rafa and Murray).

Just a shame I can't 'watch' it Sad

Raahh · 10/10/2017 13:39

Actually, I think Rafa/Roger are playing tomorrow. Very confusing when the schedule defaults to the next day^.

OP posts:
Raahh · 11/10/2017 17:03

Well Rafa and Roger both through, Rafa faces the unpredictable Foggy next, though. Roger plays Dogs, which since he has played him a couple of times this year with no problems, I doubt this time will be any different.

Fingers crossed for Delpo next round too, but he's up against Zverev, who got a lucky break against Bedene who retired in their match ( though he was never going to win it).

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 12/10/2017 22:13

Haven't had a chance to watch anything but saw the Sky Sports report which included Zverev giving his racquet a damn good hammering Grin

Rafa and Roger still on a collision course!

Raahh · 13/10/2017 11:46

Poor Zverev's racquet. Grin

was a bit worried about Rafa's match against Grigor- he is always more vulnerable to a loss than Roger, I think. And Grigor has been out for blood since Australia. But at least it went Rafa's way.

Delpo playing Troiki. - not doing so well the first set.

OP posts:
Raahh · 13/10/2017 12:11

Better second set so far.

OP posts:
Raahh · 13/10/2017 21:48

Grrr... after winning today, looks like the fall Delpo had during the match might have injured his wristSad. He was up against Fed in the sf- I won't be happy if Roger gets a free pass to the final.

OP posts:
Raahh · 14/10/2017 15:56

Well, despite what sounds like a nasty injury to his wrist, it looks like he put up a fight in the first set at least. A shame he couldn't win. It would have given him a slight chance of qualifying for London. He still could. If he does well in the remaining tournaments, but it will be tight.

So, a Roger /Rafa final again. I've a feeling Roger will take it. But Vamos Rafa!

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 15/10/2017 10:22

Feck, I forgot the final was on this morning. I've just put it on now and Rogers's won the first set. His top looks like it was put in the wash with a red t-shirt!

Raahh · 15/10/2017 10:23

Roger took the first set. Vamos Rafa! I hope it at least goes to 3 sets.

OP posts:
Raahh · 15/10/2017 10:26

Morning Jane- I've been refreshing the scores on my phone. I hate not being able to watch.

Rafa needs to win this. He hasnt been able to get past Roger when they've played this year, and it will cement his position at number 1 if he does. If he loses to him again, it leaves that niggling doubt as to whether he can beat the best still ( which is what the press will say, anyway).

OP posts:
Raahh · 15/10/2017 10:46

Looks like Rafa has been broken. Which could be a problem...come on Rafa!!

OP posts:
Raahh · 15/10/2017 10:56

This is not going to plan.

Unless you are Roger Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 15/10/2017 10:59

Damnit.

Oh well, they continue to share the spoils. but Rafa needs to beat Roger!
He has a big hth lead over him (mainly down to all the clay meetings)-- but it's shrinking this year!

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 15/10/2017 11:07

Hi Raahh. Both of them look a bit wrecked after that!

Raahh · 15/10/2017 11:15

I'm not surprised!

Quite a heavy schedule until The end of the year, too.

OP posts:
Raahh · 15/10/2017 18:37

Looks like Rafa is considering skipping Basel ( though this leaves it wide open for Roger). I think his knee is an issue, I'm not sure if he injured it during the Cilic match. It was strapped up today by the look of things.

OP posts:
Raahh · 22/10/2017 21:22

really pleased that Delpo has defended hid title in Stockholm.

Very slim chance that he might still qualify for for London- would be great for the tournament if he did (he's got to do really well in Basel/Paris first though) .

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/10/2017 18:05

Delpo through to another final tomorrow - against Roger, sadly. I'm getting bored of Roger. Grin.

And it's down to mere points now as to whether Juan will qualify for London. I hope he does. It all hinges on whether he wins tomorrow, and how Carreno Busta does next.

Tsonga is all snapping at his heels though.

I've had to focus on something, this week, in the absence of Nadal Grin

OP posts:
OneInAMillionYou · 29/10/2017 20:04

Well played Roger in Basel!

Delpo in a bad mood about the crowd support for Fed, bet he wouldn't complain if it was in Buenos Aires.

Fed has pulled out of Paris. So year end number 1 goes to Nadal.
