The time shifting is just ridiculous now - Gendry managed to run back to the wall, a raven then flew the whole length of the continent, then Dany read it, had an argument with Tyrion, then managed to fly all the way back - all while the suicide squad spent just one night standing in a cold circle! Surely it would have made more sense if they had given her a time frame and said if you haven't heard from us, send help.
I'm concerned that there's only one episode left this season and there are so many characters that started an arc and then haven't been seen for ages - Yara, Grey Worm, Bran, Theon - who turned up at Dragonstone two episodes ago to ask for Dany's help but still doesn't seem to have ever seen her!
I can see Dany's point about the succession - to be fair even if she appointed someone now they wouldn't have any control over her dragons which are her main source of power, nor would they have the personal loyalty of the unsullied or dothraki, so naming anyone would be a moot point. Her biggest drawback is that her entire support is basically a cult of personality centred on her alone rather than a wider, more enduring belief system like a religion, an area or a family.
She was very hypocritical though - " these silly boys being so stupid and self sacrificing trying to out do each other with brave deeds and not thinking of the consequences...now cheerio I'm just flying off alone to an icy wasteland hundreds of miles away to fight some ice zombies despite the fact thousands of people are solely dependant on me." Tyrion does not have an enviable job being her hand!
Agree with everyone who said a slight change in facial expression when (I think it's Viserion?) died wouldn't have gone amiss...
BTW if you rewatch you can see the third dragon - shortly after Viserion hits the ground, all the others are on Drogon, and Rhaegal is still up in the air and flies off.
Maisie Williams is usually good, but that whole monologue about the arrow shooting was like a particularly bad GCSE Drama practical. Just awful!
