Poor Ed! You can hardly blame him... who wouldn't want a cameo in the greatest show ever Grin I just blame the show runners or whoever thought it was a good idea to have him!

Puffpaw · 18/07/2017 19:42

Also, I thought Bran couldn't cross the wall as he was marked by a wight which would allow them to cross. Has he screwed over Westeros?
This is so significant as another poster said it has broken the magic of the wall. I think Melisandre may be significant here, holding back the white walkers at the wall trying to keep the magic intact. She is very old and powerful and the ww must be anathema to her as they are pretty chilly!

Puffpaw · 18/07/2017 19:43

I also think the hound is much more significant than we realise, maybe he ends up on the iron throne!

AryaUnderfoot · 18/07/2017 19:45

I think we didn't see Sandor's visions because we don't know whether he saw a 'real' mountain or a metaphorical one (his brother). If it was 'real' then seeing it would give away it's location - is it Dragonstone, the Fist of the First Men or some other location? It could 'foreshadow' Cleganebowl (which I absolutely hate as an idea but that's just me).

HolyShmoly · 18/07/2017 20:21

I thought Pete Postlethwaite's son was Kylo Ren - eh??
This sentence made sense to me last night. I was tired! When I saw the black haired new father in the ES scene I thought it was the actor who plays Kylo Ren. It turns out he's Pete Postlethwaite's son.

FadedRed · 18/07/2017 20:31

Elena very good point. I can't see Euron getting anywhere with Cersei though, she just needs the fleet. (He reminded me of Flashart ?sp in Blackadder). Also I wouldn't give much for his chances of longevity if Yara and/or Theon get anywhere near him.
But I know nothing......

SafetyBird · 18/07/2017 20:33

The wall is totally coming down. I wonder if it will be the cliff hanger to this series.

MyOtherProfile · 18/07/2017 20:43

Good point. I was really expecting an amazing graphic vision and what we got instead was something that had all the effects of a 70s tv series.

Puffpaw · 18/07/2017 20:43

safetybird yes I think you are right.

BlondieJ · 18/07/2017 20:45

@SafetyBird I think that too and what a great ending to the season that would be! The huge wall coming down and all of the white walkers eerily marching through!

Bagely · 18/07/2017 20:48

On a side, did anyone catch the Mumsnet comment made by Sue Perkins on Thronecast? Brilliant.

SafetyBird · 18/07/2017 20:50

No?! I watched Thronecast as well!

Bagely · 18/07/2017 20:55

Bird, it was when they were talking about Cersei's disinterest in Tommen's death, and Sue said something along the lines of 'Cersei's been slagged off on Mumsnet now.' Grin

AryaUnderfoot · 18/07/2017 21:03

Interestingly, most show characters get further and further away from their show equivalents through each season. Cersei is now getting closer to hers. Book Cersei never loved her children; that was a show-only invention. Book Cersei is absolutely horrible to Tommen.

SafetyBird · 18/07/2017 21:14

Oh I totally missed that! Brilliant! 😂

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/07/2017 21:22

I think is why Beric Dondarrion is still being brought back to life. In the books his resurrections are to pave the way for Melisandre bringing Jon back but in the TV show he's STILL there. The Brotherhood even said last night, why is he so important? Why does the Lord of Light keep bringing him back? He's a Fire Wight, The Lightning Lord, with a flaming sword. Maybe he can create more resurrected Fire Wights to fight White Walkers? Fire and Ice? Also, when they were asking in Thronecast who could ride the third Dragon, I was thinking, Beric!

RJnomore1 · 18/07/2017 21:53

Have we considered Dani and gendry getting it together? She does like muscly men as someone pointed out and it would unite the Baratheon and targareyn houses?

Puffpaw · 18/07/2017 22:05

judas I like that theory, perhaps he will turn the hound into a fire wight, ironic given the hound is understandably scared of fire!

nigelsbigface · 18/07/2017 22:06

Faded red has it spot on with Euron as Lord Flashheart Grin

Puffpaw · 18/07/2017 22:13

Maybe gendry is Azor ahai, he can forge a sword, maybe he plunges it into melisandre to make lightbringer.
awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Azor_Ahai
You have to read the link for my theory to make sense. It would be a departure from the books
I did think the hound might be azor ahai

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 18/07/2017 22:30

Haha, yes to flashheart Grin

ElenaGreco123 · 18/07/2017 23:10

The Dondarrions do have some Targ blood I think. Oh, no they don't. I have checked. The lovely Prince Baelor Breakspear Targaryen had a Dondarrion wife, but all that branch of the family died out. So the Dondarrions did not get a Targ bride back.

The Baratheons are part-Targs though, so Gendry could ride a dragon.

Same with Brienne.

RJnomore1 · 18/07/2017 23:20

It would be interesting if gendry comes back and has a proper role in the plot.

Sassenach85 · 18/07/2017 23:28

Haven't rtft but I felt there was an undercurrant theme of "new blood new chapter" "lots of young people and in with the new type feeling
