Or the hilariousness of Gendry and Ser Davos reminiscing about being raised in the same neighbourhood. 😂😂😂

ElspethFlashman · 18/07/2017 15:37

Jonah was in exile for 20 years. Didn't turn him bloody Danish!

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 18/07/2017 16:09

Wasn't he eaten by a whale? Welsh maybe? 😂

Middleoftheroad · 18/07/2017 16:18

What happened ti Robyn? Is he in the books much beyond where we see him in the series? Can he pick up where Ramsay left off in evilness?

I too fancied Euron....

Yamayo · 18/07/2017 16:19

Robb also had a northern accent. Apparently it's because Sean Bean when he was cast point blank refused to do an accent so his 'sons' had to sound like him.

I guess the Stark girls were raised by their southern mother hence the different accent... 😊

FadedRed · 18/07/2017 16:21

I have a question, might be a bit stupid but I'll ask it anyway.
Religion has been a theme all the way through all the series'.
Brandon is linked with the Old Gods, Cersei has just murdered a large number of followers of the Seven New Gods, and Melisandre et al have had lots of input with their God.
So will There be some Devine retribution for Cersei nuking the Great Sept?
Where will Brandon and Melisandre's God's clash?
Or am I just making it more complicated that it already is?
Any expert opinion?

Yamayo · 18/07/2017 16:22

They're all over the place with accents.
Didn't the Baratheon brothers all have different accents?

Sam is a Southern noble's son and yet sounds as northern as Jon.
Same with Davos who was born and bred in Kings Landing.

Don't they have cockneys in Westeros?

MyOtherProfile · 18/07/2017 16:54

Obvs I won't hear a word against the rather appealing Sandor but I do often wonder what his accent is supposed to be. I'm sure it's not his fault and he's just doing what the voice coach says... whatever that may be!

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 18/07/2017 17:07

The Old Gods clearly have some magic power as manifested by Bran's magic mcguffins and some Godswood stuff in the book but not the by show. And the Lord of Light has got a lot of mojo obvs. And the spooky priests in Essos and the faceless men.

But the Seven, aka the New Gods, have been chiefly distinguished by the fact that they have lovely prayers and lots of followers but bugger all actual miraculous power. It would be kind of cool if they suddenly entered the fray (like the Great God Om at the end of Small Gods).

AryaUnderfoot · 18/07/2017 17:27

MyOtherProfile I think Sandor's accent is the Westerlands. It is a sort of badly concealed Glaswegian.

It seems to be less and less concealed as the seasons go on.

ElspethFlashman · 18/07/2017 17:30

The bit with the vision in the flames....I found it a bit comical. I kept expecting Beric to go "really? You see all that?" and Sandor to go "Of course not, ya daft cunt! It's just a fuckin' fiya!"

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 18/07/2017 17:37

Winifred, I don't think we've seen the drowned god have any sort of power either?

ElenaGreco123 · 18/07/2017 17:48

I think (and maybe totally wrong) that there is no divine retribution in GoT, as all religions are phoney in there. Magic however is real.

I love the actor who plays Euron, although Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is much better.

ElenaGreco123 · 18/07/2017 17:54

Has anyone else watched Emergency Awesome's YouTube videos lately? He is convinced that Euron's special gift will be Ellaria Sand and that Dany's fleet will be smashed to even the odds.

What do we think about the fire wight theory and Jon's chances of having children?

Wormulonian · 18/07/2017 17:58

Elspeth I was thinking that too!

Still epic - but the dialogue and pacing were a bit clunky. I loved the guy who plays Euron when he was in Borgen (he had a heartbreaking story)he seemed a really good actor but is awful in GOT, total pantomime villain! The Iron Born are notorious for not making anything - they just steal what they need (even Jamie said this during the episode) so how come his followers built a massive fleet in record time or had others do it - where did the money come from? I thought the Iron Born were poor and rag taggle.

FadedRed · 18/07/2017 18:18

Totally forgot the Essos lot and the Drowned God (just like my school reports always said 'I must pay attention!').
And Jon told Melisandre that he saw nothing when he was dead, much to her disappointment.
Thanks for the replies, just a little hope for some Divine retribution on Cersei, but human retribution will be just as good. I hope she doesn't get killed off though, just be left alone and powerless.

OlennasWimple · 18/07/2017 18:19

Ed Sheeran has deleted his Twitter account because the reaction to his cameo was so bad.... Grin

"followers built a massive fleet in record time"

...on an island with no trees! Grin

Yamayo · 18/07/2017 18:28

We know Dany can't have children so her dynastic claim is looking as strong as Cersei's.

sunshineunicorn · 18/07/2017 18:35

I'm surprised there's so much discussion on accents coming from a tiny country (the uk) with such diverse accents Hmm my own dm is a Georgie and df Irish yet I've been raised in the SE England.
As for religion I guess it's a representation of RL, the way we have Christianity and Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism etc.

sunshineunicorn · 18/07/2017 18:43

Geordie not Georgie!

WeDoNotSow · 18/07/2017 18:47

Aww, poor Ed

ElenaGreco123 · 18/07/2017 18:50

Yamayo Dany probably can have children.

Faded On the Westeros website there used to be loads of threads about who should marry / snog / whatever in GoT. The Cersei / Euron coupling was considered divine retribution, as Euron is a vile abuser. I would not wish Euron / domestic abuse on anyone though. Cersei was abused by Robert as well.

ElenaGreco123 · 18/07/2017 18:51

Waves at sunshine. My DS is Geordie.

Dlpdep · 18/07/2017 18:53

I have to say, I wonder about the fact that we didn't see The Hound's visions too. Was he 'seeing' what he wanted them to think he saw? It was an unusual move for them to make - we are usually party to the visions.
