TENNIS THREAD - Wimbledon starts tomorrow!!

Am most excited & thought the grass needs a new thread.

I'll stick my neck out & say Fed to win the mens' & Carolina Plisshkova (sp?) for the womens'.

The Thiem/Donaldson match was really good, saw nearly all of it as Fed was obviously going to win and it was a bit boring. Wozniaki match also good with quite a bit of tension in the last set.

I've got the last sets of 2 doubles matches to watch - Willis one and Watson/Broady although I know Willis and his partner (Jay?) won.

Thiem/Berdych should be a good 'un, only saw a tiny bit of his match but they were saying that Berdych is playing very well this year.

I have to agree with Mirka's outfit. Not a good look!

I found the federer and Djokovic matches quite boring. I would rather have watched some of the Brit doubles matches but as were abroad it's hard to find red button coverage.

Is Anna Wintour (vogue lady) still mates with Roger? I agree about Mirka's top - not nice but probably v expensive. I'm not sure if Anna wintour was responsible for the Roger cardi debacle or whether she stopped him from wearing it any more.

Will feel strange with no tennis tomorrow but Monday looks like a very good line up - sofa here I come!

Just as well really, some jobs in the house needed doing at the beginning of the week, and haven't yet managed to disappear.

Morning! Looking forward to today- but nervous for Rafa. Muller is defnitely a tricky opponent on grass. Roger v Grigor has to be the standout match, if Dimitrov can produce the stuff he played against Rafa in Australia. I'm sure he hates the Baby Fed tag- but it's on my bingo card

I've been reading up on Marcus Willis and his partner Jay Clarke- who is only 18. He seems to be a real had worker and it was his sister who who suggested he play with Marcus. Publicity is a good thing. The trolls have been out in force , saying Willis doesn't take the sport seriously . His mum got involved He is a bit of a joker- but he plays what he can. Ultimately , for the vast majority of players it's an expensive sport. They are guaranteed £50,000 now- up to now Clarke has only earned £18000, and was even playing on Christmas day to try to boost is ranking.

Apparently Andy flew Jay over to Paris to practice at RG. He's clearly got talent . I love stories like this.

Who is Rafa playing today - i have a feeling he will win as he has been on fire and not dropped a set.
i really really wanted Djok to lose on saturday - he was so horrible to the umpire and so funny hearing Becker and Mac talking about their split. Mac seemed to be fishing a bit for information!
a few old photos were on the Daily hail website yesterday showing Djok with the Williams sisters' chef, a rather beautiful woman - turns out they were old photos, but seemed the usual DM job of trying to stir up things which are not true maybe! Who would be famous?

Rafa is playing Muller- who is pretty good on grass. He recently won in Holland , did well at Queen's - he could be a tricky one. But Rafa has been very , very solid.

There had been a few stories lately about Djok's 'infidelities' and that his marriage is in trouble. Is sad that they are digging things up now, when Jelena is pregnant (it's their anniversary in the next few days too iirc). Must be awful for her. As for the stuff with the umpire- the calls were shit- and it was only the first couple of games!! and I say this as not - a Djok fan at all.

And the weather here is is shocking - i am going to take the dog out for a walk whilst it is only spitting and not torrential . am hoping the Wimbledon forecast is better, or only the Centre Court will get to finish.

I reckon Djok was the best singer there - good baritone

I watched half of the doubles the other night because I got fed up of Fed! Jay Clarke is a great returner. It was a great match. Lovely to see Willis back. He brings a bit of fun to proceedings.

Sorry for double post - Djokovic was singing as well? Sounds like I missed a treat there. Clarke and Willis almost 2 sets down.

More red button hunting to find the Kerberos/Muguruza match. I like both of them so I am being neutral. It would be lovely for Kerberos to win it though.
