Tennis Tennis Tennis

Am most excited & thought the grass needs a new thread.

I'll stick my neck out & say Fed to win the mens' & Carolina Plisshkova (sp?) for the womens'.

OP posts:

Hi all. I love Wimbledon.

Shame about Laura. Wonder if she'll ever get back up to where she was.

I'd like Andy to win, though doubt he'll do it. Federer would be nice, or one of the younger guys coming up like Zverev or Thiem.

I'd love for Kvitova to win.

Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2017 13:24

Bublik looks very young (20 I think) but I am old so everyone looks young to me.

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2017 13:25

Hi Fizzy the housework will be on the back-burner here too (any excuse).

DS's reckon the net cord beeper is very loud this year. I have been googling pictures of when there used to be a net cord judge for them. They have both left the room Grin

DramaAlpaca · 03/07/2017 13:26

Afternoon all. As usual I'm stuck in the office so can't watch any tennis, but I do have the live scores page up on my computer.

I'm relying on you lovely lot to fill me in on any gossip Grin

Sorry to hear Laura has gone out.

Raahh · 03/07/2017 13:28

It's funny having Boris commentating. He probably needs the money. Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 03/07/2017 13:29

Hi to fizzy and MrsPear. Tennis

GrouchyKiwi · 03/07/2017 13:30

Grin Raahh

I'd forgotten how sycophantic Castle is.

Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2017 13:32

Thank you for the welcomes - I remember the line cord judges as well!

Raahh · 03/07/2017 13:32

Grouchy I'm blocking him outGrin.

Boris is making me laugh. And is not as biased - but I wonder if he will commentate on Novak?

BagelGoesWalking · 03/07/2017 13:36

Changed the beds and put on a wash - that's all the housework for the week day Grin

Don't think Murray will win considering his recent form. Stan always says he doesn't like the grass which must have an impact on his confidence. Federer or Nadal, I suppose, but I don't know who!

Saw quite a lot of the women's last week. Plishkova is so languid around the court, it's quite weird to watch but I'd like Halep to win.

GrouchyKiwi · 03/07/2017 13:39

Bublik looks a little like he's given up in this set. I don't like when they do that.

Raahh I get the feeling Boris doesn't like Andy very much. Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2017 13:39

I agree Bagel Pliskova is almost robotic. I like a bit of emotion in the players but not to Kyrgios levels!

Welcome MrsPear

Raahh · 03/07/2017 13:41

Bagel I really like Halep. Much as I was delighted for Ostapenko, I felt for Simona at RG, losing after she had such a lead. Again.

I think Bublik is doing o.k- despite the score line.

Raahh · 03/07/2017 13:42

Grouchy I was trying not to say that- but no, I don't think he does either Grin.

His early comments before the match certainly made that clear. Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2017 13:44

Have to laugh at Boris saying you have to start a family. Or a few families in his case Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 03/07/2017 13:46

Kyrgios - what a sad early exit (not). He always look like he's in a massive sulk, injured or not, and as if it's massively putting him out, having to be on court. Not remotely charismatic. I did like his opponent, Herbert, though - very elegant player.

Kim looked a little nauseous just now. Wonder how pregnant she is?!

Raahh · 03/07/2017 13:46

Jane Grin yes, he didn't really plan his, did he ?

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2017 13:50

Kate M looks lovely today. Poor Kim, not the best place to be if you're feeling nauseous, surrounded by people.

Raahh · 03/07/2017 13:54

Sue Barker is brought to us today by the word

'charismatic'.

At least it is correct , in relation to Dustin Brown.

Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2017 14:01

Boris is making me laugh about the Russian rappers. Yes Dustin brown is charismatic but did he beat Rafa at Wimbledon a few years ago? Not sure if I can forgive him for that Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2017 14:03

I feel the same Fizzy Grin

Gaah I leave the room for a few minutes and they change the match to BBC1

Raahh · 03/07/2017 14:13

Fizzy he did beat him, which I did struggle to forgive him for. I vented my anger on the draw, instead, which I maintain was fixed Grin(the commentators were always very gleeful when Rafa lost early- it might be different this year).

Raahh · 03/07/2017 14:14

Jane it was a 'Sue Barker announcement of Doom'. It's all she's good for during Wimbledon, coming on and telling us they are switching channels/stopping the match you are watching to a Murray one instead/telling us 'it's raining'.

Grin
Raahh · 03/07/2017 14:18

Sue also likes to constantly remind us Dustin beat Rafa...
Rosol is playing somewhere, she will probably mention he beat him too, when she gets the chance.

Raahh · 03/07/2017 14:20

Halep is doing well so far.
