morning!

Couldn't get too involved last night, was at a charity sports fundraiser for some of dh's softball team, it was a quiz, so checking phone a lot would have looked suspicious. I think I jinxed it for foggy by checking when he 5-2 up, and getting excited.Sad
You will be pleased to know, I got all the tennis related questions right, though there was a badly photo copied picture round featuring Naomi Broady. You'd never guess it was her from the picture- but the sports club was in Stockport( where she's from) so it seemed the logical guess. Grin
Got lots to do today, but am hoping to catch some of the matches.

3 times!! Envy think my trip in 1994 is destined to remain a one off.

For those of you who are keen to see live tennis can I (again) suggest Devonshire Park, Eastbourne. My court 1 ticket (giving access to all bar Center Court) was £11 for quarter finals day. I saw Anderson, Gasquet, Zeverev, Monfils, Kerber, Wozniacki, Plishkova, Halep & the Bryan brothers. Some of them only for a few games & some for whole matches. It was a stunning day out.

Looking forward to seeing Djok & Fed later - off for my first sea swim of the year now!

Had a lovely day at Wimbledon yesterday - was on court 1 so saw the lovely Cilic, Konta and Williams match. All their opponents played pretty well and the matches seemed closer than the score lines suggested.

Would have loved to have seen Rafa Sad(destined never to see Rafa at Wimbledon!). Henman hill was heaving for the Murray match - we left just as he won.

Looking forward to seeing some tennis from the sofa today - it was very hot on no 1 court - my sunglasses kept sliding off my nose - don't know how they manage to play tennis in that heat!

BagelGoesWalking · 08/07/2017 13:01

I will definitely try to remember Eastbourne for next year - incredibly good value - and by the seaside!

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2017 13:04

Just catching up on yesterday's Wimbledon today programme - loving Clare balding and Rafa talking about the Tesco self serve - he got a bit confused by them as they don't have them in Spain - yes I love Rafa even more now - there was no mention of bags for life though!

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2017 13:43

Just checked out the tweet from the guy that helped Rafa at Tesco - he said that Rafa didn't need a bag as he was being environmentally friendly. (Realise that I now need to get myself a life and stop googling Rafa at Tesco)

OneInAMillionYou · 08/07/2017 14:14

I never forget how lucky I am, having been going to Wimbledon since I was five and all through my childhood and onward to my 'mature' self!!

As well as the Eastbourne tip above, don't forget the year end championships at the O2. Top 8 singles and Top 8 doubles, easy to get tickets and a less formal atmosphere.

Raahh · 08/07/2017 15:09

I'm done with all my seemingly endless jobs (who knew buying goal keeper gloves for dd1 would get so complicated??!)

Have been listening to the radio, so just back in time to see what is probably nearing the end for Ramos -Vinolas, against Raonic.

Raahh · 08/07/2017 15:14

I've just caught up with the Rafa/Claire interview about the self service tillGrin. I loved him already, but aww, he's so sweet. I think Claire wants to take him home. Grin
I hate self service tills. I have been know to answer them back loudly and swearily. Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/07/2017 15:18

Where can I see the Rafa/Clare interview??

Raahh · 08/07/2017 15:24

I'd recorded 'Today at Wimbledon' last night, I'm not sure if it 's on iplayer.

I need to go through my tivo box, actually- at this time of year, from RG on wards, it records everything remotely tennis related, that I might have watched previously. And for some reason, just before RG, I got whole load of repeats from the Aussie open! So I need to delete things before I run out of spaceGrin

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2017 15:29

I also hate self service tills - I thought I'd mastered them until I encountered bananas! Someone had to help me out and I felt old! Grin

Raahh · 08/07/2017 15:37

I hate them, as you only have to look at them the wrong way, and they go wrong. And they don't like things that hardly weigh anything. They drive me nuts.

Love Milos taking his time to sign autographs for kids.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 08/07/2017 15:47

Claire Balding? I luffs her.

Raahh · 08/07/2017 15:50

I do like Gulbis. Would rather he hadn't beaten Delpo though. But-playing the way he was the other day, he could be a problem for Novak. And I'm sure it was the the 3rd round , middle Saturday, when Djok lost last yearGrin

Raahh · 08/07/2017 16:00

Claire is great. Ditching Inverdale for her, for 'Today at Wimbledon' was a good thing.

I haven't watched any of Djok's matches yet, I'm really watching for Gulbis. Interesting that Boris is commentating, I wonder what he is really thinking ? (because I bet he would love to say!) Grin

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2017 16:04

Here's hoping! I liked Raonic's interview after the match where he said that things like signing autographs especially for kids didn't take much time but was really important to give something back to the fans (I'm paraphrasing - he put it really well). Definitely put the likes of Krygios and Tomic to shame.

Raahh · 08/07/2017 16:06

oh dear. The calls are shocking though, especially this early on.

Raahh · 08/07/2017 16:19

Andre looks like he is praying, with his white towel covering his head Grin

The80sweregreat · 08/07/2017 16:27

Come on Gulbis.
I like Andre, seems a sweet man and does a lot for the kids in US.
Becker is being diplomatic !
John is talking about it now. Sounds a massive barney on the quiet with Djok and old team.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 08/07/2017 16:32

So who dumped who?

Was hopeful that Gulbis could be the one but Djok looking as robotic as ever Sad

The80sweregreat · 08/07/2017 16:38

No idea, although they both seem ego driven !
Was hoping djok would lose first set..but no.
Rather a flat game so far.

Raahh · 08/07/2017 16:38

There is definitely more to it , I think, than 'Djok didn't spend as long on practising' . And I bet Boris would love to spill the beans. Grin.

QuiQuaiQuod · 08/07/2017 16:39

Phew! Im welcome! Grin.

I only really tip Angry Murray cos Im a Brit. Hes okay sometimes.
Love Jamie. shame he and Bruno lost.

and well done Konta.

Not a huge fan of Gulbis but Im hoping hell win. used to like Djoko tillhe got all stroppy and dodgy private life. didn't he have a go at a spectator last match? missed it.

Hope Bethanys ok, shes brilliant.

Claire Baldings fitted well into the TAW programme. and shes prettier than inverdale!

Stavros prob has the towel over his head to not get head sun burn!

the thing with Federer is- when hes not playing well/injured/losing matches he comes acroos so nice, when he's on top form he preens and postures and seems very big headed.

Fabio looks like an extra from Pirates of the carribean!

and I love the Aussie players of od- Cash, Woody's, Lleyton, Laver, Rosewall, Margaret Court, Yvonne Cawley etc.

todays, Kyrios and Tomic to name but 2, well......the complete opposite.

Kokinakis kookyknickers isn't too bad though.

If Andy/Cilic don't make it to the final Im hoping Raonic will get it. Tennis
why did they keep Andys match on BBC1 and move the 1 progs to BBC2? aren't both channels top channels? is one more important than 2? everyone with a tv has those channels.

will miss it tomorrow, no tennjis for a whole day Sad.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/07/2017 16:45

What's up with Gulbis? He looks like he doesn't really want to play.
