Trailer: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0530xzt

Anyone else watching tonight?

(Ireland apparently gets Wednesday episodes instead.
No spoilers, please!).

OP posts:

Next episode looks a bit creepy... at the fair!

cushioncovers · 05/06/2017 10:59

Just rewatched the bit with Mac and the paramedic and the paramedic definitely looks at Mac and raises his arms to help Him so don't think Mac has died.

LorLorr2 · 05/06/2017 12:08

It does look creepy doesn't it, especially with the mirrors!

The new info we get from that clip is that Mac is trying to get info on a girl who went missing in the early 90's, then one of his daughters disappear while under Paula's care and she starts panicking.

Are we any clearer as to what's going on Grin

Nellyphants · 05/06/2017 12:22

I watched this last night, 4 beers didn't help me figure it out. I'm going with Paula as a psycho. Less beer for the next episode I think

tillytubby · 05/06/2017 18:35

Why is it any teacher in a drama is always shown shouting out the weeks homework over the sound of the bell as the kids rush out. Every single time!
I don't really blame them for rushing out as Paula's voice is so deadpan she must be the most uninspiring chemistry teacher.
Anyone else love the sweary headmaster? Is that just how they make them in Ireland? Seriously if he confronted me with a load of "what the fuck is going on?" I'd have him up before a tribunal!

Nellyphants · 05/06/2017 19:00

I think the head master is possibly a caricature from 1950s.

MistyMinge · 05/06/2017 20:17

When is the third episode on?

Nellyphants · 05/06/2017 20:46

Bbc 2 Thursday 9pm

Crispsareafoodgroup · 05/06/2017 21:11

Will nobody ever switch a light on in this programme?
If I was in Paula's house with a psycho out to get me every light would be blazing.
The whole thing is so dark....everywhere.

Nellyphants · 05/06/2017 21:31

There's also how is a teacher living in a ginormous Victorian house in a Des res area? I think about these things too much

cheesydoesit · 06/06/2017 09:22

Haven't RTFT yet as I'm halfway through the second episode. I really dislike Paula though and don't really care about her as a character so although it was initially promising, I'm not too arsed about what happens to her. I hope Morgan gets out okay though. I think the sewn up mouth girl was James' sister and his mum abused them both.

cheesydoesit · 06/06/2017 09:38

Can't stand Paula. Depressingly predictable that she and Mac slept together. I called that as soon as he was on screen in episode one. I do however love his colleague.

Nellyphants · 06/06/2017 09:50

In fairness Paula seems to sleep with every man she meets so not surprising she slept with Mac. I think that's the idea that were supposed to dislike her. She says she doesn't feel anything, she's very cold

Magicpaintbrush · 06/06/2017 10:38

Why is it that when gunshots were fired in the restaurant toilets no members of staff heard it or came to help?? Confused

SoupDragon · 06/06/2017 11:11

In fairness Paula seems to sleep with every man she meets

She said that when she has seen she goes back to the alternate reality place which probably explains why I guess. Although with James she said she'd never slept with a "random” before.

I wondered about the gun shots in the restaurant. Although I wondered if the staff called the police? Maybe they helped Paula as the focus shifted to Mac running after the attacker so we wouldn't know anyway

isobel79 · 06/06/2017 20:57

Just watched EP 2 and im still confusedConfused

EachandEveryone · 06/06/2017 23:25

Is that why she completely blanked him when he was calling out to her as she was led to the car? Why didnt she acknowlege him?

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 07/06/2017 00:02

Just catching up on this.
Bleak as fuck and decent acting - what's not to like!

Nellyphants · 07/06/2017 05:42

Well I hope Episode 3 ties everything up & we're not left scratching our heads

SapphireStrange · 07/06/2017 10:27

How come they repeated last episode's entire sequence with brother??? (Paula getting night phone call, brother collapsed in phone box, fobbing of the passing Gardai, taking him back to his garage squat).

It wasn't repeated, was it? Or did I totally miss a bit? Confused

I'm finding the whole programme utterly bizarre. It better wrap up in some convincing way.

utopialopier · 07/06/2017 14:02

Wow this is different and probably the scariest and creepiest thing I have seen for ages. Arggghhhhh

I think policeman is dead now and that's why she ignored him in the car. I also think her Mother is dead and that explains when she said to her brother they had to go and see Dad for his birthday. And the odd behaviour of the Mum at the top of the stairs when Paula went to stay there. Also it's only the Dad at the hospital with Callum.

She definitely sees dead people. James is probably dead too because his wife said she hadn't seen him for a few weeks.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/06/2017 14:08

Havnt read thread as on e1 but enjoying. Will try and watch 2 before tomorrow's no 3

SapphireStrange · 07/06/2017 14:49

I'm not buying the sees-dead-people theory. There is one scene at least at the hospital when her mum's there.

I fear it's going to turn out to have been a load of nonsense, but will watch Ep 3 as I'm invested now. Also, Denice Gough is excellent and Tom Hughes is SO beautiful.

Nellyphants · 07/06/2017 15:09

I'll be very disappointed if this turns out to be nonsense. It's written by Conor McPherson, I've enjoyed everything he's written

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 07/06/2017 16:56

What else has he written Nellyphants ? (I know you're not google, but some personal recommendations would be appreciated!)
