Anyone else watching tonight?

(Ireland apparently gets Wednesday episodes instead.
No spoilers, please!).

The tube in his nose isn't for oxygen. It's a feeding tube.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 09/06/2017 22:57

barry,

She'd got him on some form of feeding tube. She was whizzing up liquid in her Nutribullet towards the end.

Very grim. Wonder if he'll choose the 'other' option, and remove it?

Why did the dog and her need to be sedated? Where did she get the syringe from? It's just like the replacement in that there is an entire episode missing. Bloody annoying.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 09/06/2017 23:14

She tested the dog sedative on herself, to see if it'd be effective enough on a human
(i.e. James).
Bit pointless, as he's entirely different weight/ build.
And isn't she a chemistry teacher, so she'd surely have a rough idea.

Not clear on why the dog was at vet's in first place: normal people would've taken an abandoned animal to get microchip scan & reunite with owner.
Doubt was neutering or op so soon. Didn't appear injured.

Bit confused as to how many days had passed between times.

Why is Paula's house in constant darkness? Switch big light on woman!

MiaZadora · 10/06/2017 08:36

It does get freakier the more you think about it doesn't it. AS the credits roll we all think meh but that was days ago now and the thoughts of it............. 72 hours later, yikes.

barrygetamoveonplease · 10/06/2017 12:17

barry, She'd got him on some form of feeding tube. She was whizzing up liquid in her Nutribullet towards the end.

Got it. I've never kept a man in a box so I didn't know how it was done. Thank you.

Was Paula really James's sister. Was that girl Paula. I wonder if the girl survived from the cupboard experience with James. He thought she'd died but maybe she survived and got taken by social services and adopted by parents.

Paula said as a child she lost consciousness after a choking game with her brother, and felt like she was gone a long time in a nice place. Sex took her back to that nice place.

So if she was also that child in the cupboard with James - it would make sense that he comforted her an an incestuous way and maybe she had some memory and sense of comfort.

James said that seeing Paula was like seeing his sister for the first time .. as if she had come back. I think there is meant to be a link....

CeeBeeBee · 10/06/2017 16:04

Inkatha, I really don't think Paula is the grown up Mary as she appears as a ghost when she comforts James. My interpretation of that scene is he is going to die slowly and she is finally taking him home.

Clawdy · 10/06/2017 16:25

How can Paula be his younger sister when she is so obviously older than him?

ScrumpyBetty · 10/06/2017 19:21

But if she is his sister then they had sex....ewww no, that can't be right

MiaZadora · 10/06/2017 19:58

Not his sister. She is about 40. James not more than 33 and in the photo james about 7 and the sister Mary a baby

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2017 21:18

About 40?!! She's not 40! She looks mid-30s possibly. He looks 30ish, but they could be playing younger/older characters.

Clawdy · 10/06/2017 22:31

No, he is definitely some years younger than her, that theory does not make sense. The casting would surely have looked at that.

mizu · 11/06/2017 09:08

I quite liked it - watched the last one last night. I do keep thinking about James in the box though, just the thought that he's never going to get out [shocked] makes me feel queasy and a bit panicky.

ruru1981 · 11/06/2017 10:22

Hi. I have a few questions if anyone can shed some light.

I don't understand what the boy who got beaten up had to do with anything? The dog could have easily turned up near her home lost without the boy. Why was it in a bag?

If he did care for Paula or thought she was his sister why was he trying to hurt and scare her?

Why show he had two girlfriends and that one hurt the other? What was the relevance?

Why did the cop introduce his kids to Paula? It would be too risky with his job? He knew some psycho was after her abs he put his kids in danger?

Why show her parents behaviour towards her but not tie it up?

Why show James mother in the home and not tie it up?

Why did she never close her living room curtains!!

Why are these men so keen on getting her to bed?

Surely the cop would demand to know if it was his baby?

If it was James baby would she want to keep it?

SoupDragon · 11/06/2017 10:40

Beaten up boy and dog : no idea. Just a plot device to get a dog in and then the vet trip for dog sedative.

Lord knows about the rest.

I guess the cop could have had a vasectomy and thus know it's not his or he could have asked over dinner - it was all finished quite quickly after that little bombshell. The thought of her as a mother is terrifying though!

MiaZadora · 11/06/2017 10:48

ruru

The boy with the dog being beaten up right outside her house was a bit random I thought, perhaps it just gave her the idea to experiment with sedation on the dog, or perhaps she would have gone and practiced on another dog or on herself, or got the drug somewhere else....

I think James and Paula were just drawn to each other in that way that two people whose wounds mirror eg, a giver and a taker, an avoidant and an anxiously insecure person, but in their case it was more fucked up.

He wasn't trying to scare her. I think domination, control, misogyny and aggression are part of a relationship to him. (crystal and megan)
Showing that he had sister wives made us assume that Paula was 'The Normal One' in this story.

Yes, agree the cop was out of his mind to bring Paula out with his kids - just a plot device, for her to think she saw James in the mirror. For us to see her nervous and losing it.

Her parents werent supposed to be the cause of her weirdness. It was supposed to be her brother right?? although her brother was / had been the golden boy before his drug addiction I think.

James mother lost her daughter Mary and remained sad and depressed and she never really communicated with James much in their visits. In hindsight this could be interpreted as her revulsion of him...? his guilt? Her anger. Not sure.

The married cop might be afraid to ask if it was his. He's digesting the possibility first.

I thought she wanted the baby regardless of whose it was. It makes no difference to her, she said ''it's mine!''. Earlier she said to Mac that she doesn't really have feelings and it gets her in to trouble. So now this woman who admits to having no feelings is going to bring a child in to the world.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 11/06/2017 10:52

I didn't get anything - none of it made sense.

The only bit I got was the practicalities of the feeding tube. Not because I've kept a body in a box Hmm Grin but I have watched an awful lot of TV medical dramas. I'm practically a doctor now.

MiaZadora · 11/06/2017 10:56

Same here, after several seasons of House MD I'm a consultant, in all fields.

NotJanine · 11/06/2017 11:02

Well that was damn creepy. Only just caught up with the last episode.

As soon as the dog appeared I thought 'noooo'. Obvious he wouldn't last long.

I agree a lot of it didn't make much sense. Maybe if it could have been a longer series they could have explained more.

Great acting by the woman who played Paula though.

Temporaryanonymity · 11/06/2017 13:17

I have just finished watching episode three. What a load of rubbish...

ruru1981 · 11/06/2017 18:22

They could have had 4/5/6 episodes instead of rushing it. Seems a shame x
