Anyone else who is eagerly awaiting the start of the next season and want to chat about predictions and theories for what is going to happen as the Game of Thrones draws to a conclusion over the next two series?

Spoilers inevitable, as it's almost impossible to look forward without looking back at what has happened in the show already. But please mark spoilers about leaks relating to Seasons 7 and 8 in case some pp don't want to see photos and things ahead of the show.

So, who is going to win the Game and who is going to die? Share your thoughts, theories and crazy tinfoil hat suggestions here!

Ah, yes, good point Olenna's I'd forgotten that Dany can't have anymore children. Interesting...

MaQueen · 24/05/2017 21:28

I would like Sansa to end up with someone, who actually loves her and makes her happy...

ZedWoman · 24/05/2017 21:36

I would like Sansa to end up with someone, who actually loves her and makes her happy...

Me too - someone who doesn't just love her for her claim. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen very often to highborn women in Westeros.

Fortunately for show Grey Worm, he still has 'the pillar' but just not 'the rocks'.

Book Grey Worm has neither. Then again book Missandei is 10 so it wouldn't happen anyway.

AdalindSchade · 24/05/2017 21:39

I'm sure grey worm could certainly have some fun and he would definitely be some fun, penis or no penis Wink

AdalindSchade · 24/05/2017 21:41

Definitely ellaria and yara

MaQueen · 24/05/2017 22:21

If they don't have an actual penis anymore, how would they urinate? have often pondered that while reading the books...

OlennasWimple · 24/05/2017 23:27

Can Grey Worm still lead the Unsullied once he has been, ahem, sullied?

Sansa deserves to end up with her handsome, brave prince, though I'm sure she won't

Trailer looks great. Good to see Theon; wondering what he'll be up to and hoping he's okay.

I don't like Ellaria, but I adore Yara/Asha so excited for her scenes.

ThatItBe · 25/05/2017 07:38

Hope Yara has a wash though Grin I know it's ridiculous but I do spend time shouting 'have a wash!' at many characters. What those leather trousers must smell like........could probably fell strong warriors at ten paces.

MyOtherProfile · 25/05/2017 07:50

Bit gutted that there's no mention of Sandor in any of the spoilers! And yes they do all in general need a bit of a clean up!

DispatchReady · 25/05/2017 08:09

Ooh looks good! Didn't see any white walkers though? And was that Dany sitting on the iron throne all alone - I couldn't tell?

ZedWoman · 25/05/2017 08:10

MyOtherProfile I think we are going to see a lot of Sandor this season. Rory was spotted in Belfast, Spain and there was that still photo of the Hound on the HBO website with some of the other production stills.

The 'leaked' plots don't seem to mention him going to Winterfell though.

MaQueen · 25/05/2017 10:24

Dany wasn't sitting on the Iron Throne. I think she's sitting on the throne at Dragonstone (her ancestral home).

user1487175389 · 25/05/2017 10:54

Haha, ThatitBe I'd be happy with Yara even unwashed. Then again I'd be happy to give her a bath too Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 25/05/2017 11:26

As a straight woman I confess that I would deffo shag Yara 😂

This is a good article analysing the trailer shot-by-shot ^

Can't wait!! Although hoping Jaime eventually sees sense and leaves Cersei's side (or kills her Grin) - and praying he and Brienne don't have to fight each other!!

AdalindSchade · 25/05/2017 11:51

Can we avoid leaked spoilers on this thread please in case they are true? Thanks!

WingMirrorSpider · 25/05/2017 12:04

The trailer's ace but July is aaaages away Sad

Re. Sansa's love life, in the book there seems to be more of an emphasis placed on her interaction with The Hound. It hasn't really been explored as much in the show, but he did save her from being raped and has a definite soft spot for her. Still seems a bit icky though.

MyOtherProfile · 25/05/2017 12:30

Ooh excited at more Sandor but definitely don't want him hooking up with Sansa. That would be a bit grim. She was a kid when they met.

MaQueen · 25/05/2017 12:36

I think a lot of people don't realise how very young Sansa, Joffrey, Arya, Bran, Jon, Dany....etc, are in the books.

They're only very early to mid teens (Arya even younger). So, Sansa is only 12/13 when the Hound is getting the hots for her. Dany is only just 13 when she marries Kal Drogo (and has sex) etc.

I think HBO made them all 5 years older than in the books, to not cause offence.

expatinscotland · 25/05/2017 12:42

Sansa is a month off 13 when she is married to Tyrion. She's all of maybe 14 the last time she's in the books, possibly 13. What was Jon, 19?

ZedWoman · 25/05/2017 12:56

I think Dany discovered she was pregnant by Khal Drogo on her 14th Nameday. He was about 30 at the time.

Pod is about 12 (so no great brothel conquests) in the books and Missandei 10.

Even the 'oldies' are younger. Littlefinger is less than 30, Tyrion is (I think) about 25 and Sandor is 27/28. Ned Stark is 35 in GoT. Walder Frey, on the other hand, is about 90.

Theon is 20 and Robb becomes KitN at 14 (marries Jeyne Westerling about this time).

I read an excerpt from an interview with GRRM where he said that, in Westeos, a woman is considered suitable for 'wedding and bedding' when she has 'flowered', but would not be considered an adult until 14.

Certainly, book Tyrion considered Sansa at 12 (one month off 13) still a child but was prepared to 'bed' her if she had been willing. I think Tyrion was about 13 when he secretly married Tysha who was about the same age.

I may be remembering some of these incorrectly.

OlennasWimple · 25/05/2017 13:20

Zed - I think you're right with the ages

I assumed that the show characters are older both because audiences would not watch something with 13 year olds having sex (willingly and otherwise) or believe something with 15 year old kings leading troops into battle, but also because child actors are really difficult to cast.

Personally I'm glad that they did - I'm finding it really hard to read the books' descriptions of breasts and pubes whilst thinking "these are 14 year old girls!!". It feels like something written in the 1970s, not 1990s

The hound will go north with the brotherhood , they will team up with john / tormund, plus Gendry, who Davos will find near Dragonstone, they all go beyond the wall to capture a wight so they can take it to Kings Landing to show Cersei what the kingdom faces.

I've read that Jon will die twice beyond the wall, saved the second time by a dying Thoros of Myr.
Whatever happens , I am ridiculously excited. So much going on in that trailer!

MaQueen · 25/05/2017 19:19

Zed I think you're accurate with those ages.

GRRM has said many times that he has based GofT on the Wars of the Roses/The Borgias etc. In which case, girls marrying at 12 and becoming mothers at 13/14 was fairly commonplace.

King John married Isabella of Angloueme, when she was only 12. And Margaret Beaufort gave birth to Henry VII when she was only 13. As I recall, Henry Vs Mother, Mary De Bohun was only 12 when she married Henry IV, and had her first baby at 14.
