But Marilyn, didn't your voicemail only come through much too late today as you don't know what's wrong with your phone lately..?

ButtonMooooon · 30/04/2017 10:00

If I had a journey to do I wouldn't want to be hanging round at someone's house, I'd just want to get on with it!!! If they come to yours at 8.30 with two hours still to go they won't be home until at least 11.30? Madness I tell you!!!

What did you do in the end?!

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 30/04/2017 10:16

Thanks, you lovely lot!

  • Actually, Button,
Sadly, the fact they've got over 2 hrs further travelling won't speed them up...she merrily informed us on voicemail "...we're nightbirds, so won't have to tear off", plus they're retirees, so no pressing work commitments or early start in morning, plus they've had a fortnight of Spanish late night lifestyle.
  • Ali,
They definitely wouldn't be LOD fans: he once gleefully told me he only watches cricket, rugby or war documentaries. She considers TV the work of the devil, which numbs brains (oh how little she knows of the mental agility needed to follow Jed M's plot twists).
  • Beans,
Good to know we can catch up with everyone together, if need be!

DP's leaning towards a combination of the rest of your ideas: he said murdering a talking interrupter would be in keeping with general theme of crime drama Shock, we'd feel too bad if we outright lie about illness Halo ...but we compromised by forewarning them they're most welcome and we're expected for drinks with "an old friend" at 9, an allowable bending of truth.
(By this stage, we sort of regard NobleTed as a friend, Blush and have 2 bottles of Wine Wine in readiness, so...).

Just have to hope they're content with half an hr's chat/ warm hospitality/ coffee and biscuits (have bought in proper, posh chocolate ones to ease my guilt), and take the hint when we make for the door.

FeralBeryl · 30/04/2017 11:02

Ferris you'll have to sit your mum under the stairs with a portable telly so her witterings don't spoil it for you Wink

Marilyn let them in - but maybe remove a couple of fingers at the door just casually so they know you mean business?

Right - back to my whiteboard of title ideas...

That sounds cunning, Marilyn. Better hope they don't offer you a lift to your old friend's ...

Ceto · 30/04/2017 11:12

Don't they have passes to let them in and out of the building? Is someone going to clock that at the time the computer records were accessed, Jamie wasn't there whereas Maneet was?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 30/04/2017 11:34

Marilyn - you won't lei about illness but you are making up a social gathering!

I am horrified by the mendacious lengths you will go to.

Ceto · 30/04/2017 11:47

Well, it is a social gathering, isn't it, ILike? Marilyn, her DH, Ted, Kate, Steve and the lads ...

Ceto · 30/04/2017 11:49

Maneet was clearly upset as she left the building after telling Ted she was starting maternity leave early. She's obviously left so that Hilton can't pressurise her any more. Surely efficient Maneet will have secretly recorded him blackmailing/threatening her and will again save the day by producing it at the last minute?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 30/04/2017 11:50

Marilyn, are you busy constructing further webs of lies now to get out of the 'kind offer of a lift scenario' that Ceto perceptively foresees??!

FeralBeryl · 30/04/2017 11:54

GrinGrin Beans 'the mendacious lengths'

I'm trying to prepare myself that we aren't going to get even half the required information from tonight's finale.

I watched the end of season 3 last night and it was so unsatisfying. Dot carrying on, Denton banged up for life etc.
Yes this was all seen to in S4 but I think we're going to be hitting S5 before we can tick our boxes Sad

OP posts:
ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 30/04/2017 12:11

I've just read a Sunday Times article which says we will find out who BM is!!

However, they don't cite their source, and as all we MNers know that is unforgivable and, probably, inaccurate...

They also say here may be a sixth series in the pipeline!!

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 30/04/2017 12:12

Feral , did you mean S2 and 3 there?

Confused
FeralBeryl · 30/04/2017 12:15

Of course I did Blush
Why WHY can I not get the numbers right. I need help...

OP posts:
Ceto · 30/04/2017 12:43

Adrian Dunbar confirmed that there would be sixth series, didn't he?

SapphireStrange · 30/04/2017 12:55

I think they've confirmed S5, not 6. I wonder if 5 will be the last one.

Gighasmokedhalibutisawesome · 30/04/2017 13:25

I am trying to stay open minded about tonights denouement and all possible outcomes but I have realised that I am going to be absolutely, truly, totally and utterly gutted if Maneet does not save the day or otherwise is shown to be one of the good guys, ideally in a punch the air moment. Do you think I am going to be disappointed?

SapphireStrange · 30/04/2017 13:28

I don't know, Gighas, but I'm with you. If Maneet is a baddie then the world is turned upside down and I can never trust again! Grin

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 30/04/2017 13:28

I hope not!

I know her stomach is visible in the trailer!

I have been thinking about the 'two faced bastard' and 'H'.

Hargreaves is everyone's favourite for this but it doesn't massively fit to me. Dot doesn't have a huge amount to do with him and, moreover, he isn't two faced. He only has one -deeply unpleasant- face, surely?

Hilton and Hastings - nooooooo! - are more likely to seem 'two faced?

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 30/04/2017 13:59

Ceto, Beans,

You very nearly sent me into a right panic...had horrible image of them driving us to random stranger's house (where our "friend Ted" lives...ahem), and insisting on being introduced to him.

Or us declining their very kind offer (as our "friend Ted" is one of the neighbours...ahem), but them delaying everything by faffing around in the car (he wears driving gloves and special driving shoes, apparently), whilst we hide round a corner, desperate to get back inside.

However, DP had considered all scenarios:
"friend Ted" is one of the neighbours (I wish Blush Wink).

But we'll explain shortcut way to his house is down side alley (is actually a dead end, for wheelie bin stashing). We can thus quietly access our garden fence gate & in through back door, no matter how long they out front take. Obviously remembering not to turn on living room lights!
(Nutjob DP currently timing how long a practice run takes).

Jesus...hope LOD cast appreciate the lengths their loyal fan base are prepared to go to!
Anyone else cancelling other plans/ gagging talkative friends and family etc?

Feral,
Yes, our expectations of your top punning next thread title are high.

  • Quite a few people (can't remember if on here, too?) seem convinced that VelmaJodie is a plant, that her sucking up to Roz has been one almighty (cringeingly realistic) cover to gain trust and monitor her closely, and that she'll end up joining AC-12 in reward for producing vital evidence???
Crikey. Shock Shock Shock
  • Bet the mystery of why Farmer's narcoleptic solicitor has got away with such unprofessional behaviour remains unexplained.
I may have missed any clues there, as get too distracted by his magnificent eyebrows!
SapphireStrange · 30/04/2017 14:03

Bet the mystery of why Farmer's narcoleptic solicitor has got away with such unprofessional behaviour remains unexplained.

I think the framing of Farmer is part of a corruption that goes very high up and he was deliberately given a shit solicitor to make it easier to charge and convict him.

ktel1 · 30/04/2017 14:12

Beans- I think most people think H is hilton not Hargreaves

I suspect Hargreaves partly because I think Hilton is too obvious

NorfolksGiven · 30/04/2017 14:13

Series 3 on YouTube for the rest of the day then.. I hope I have time - only started at 2pm Hmm kids won't need any tea will they ?

beargrass · 30/04/2017 14:14

Sapphire and/or the solicitor actually works for the other side

He's so shit it's ridiculous...whereas everything else is 100% believableSmile

notheroldie · 30/04/2017 14:44

Very late to the game here, only discovered there was a series 1,2 and 3 this week!!! So after someone's comment that the boxset was in Sainsbury's I bought a it and have binge watched the whole darn lot to get up to speed. Toast has featured quite heavily on our meal.menu this weekGrin.
I'm now ready to be quite disappointed that Roz won't get her comeuppance for being a cold and nasty bitch. Shame.
Does anyone remember Lakewell, that's L-A-K-E-W-E-L-L bringing Nick some spare clothes after he got called for interview after the stair well incident? I may be mistaken, that was a couple of weeks ago and I've devoured 17 previous episodes since then.
