Aaaargh! Urgently need your advice, oh fellow LOD obsessives.
Moral dilemma:
7am voicemail left by relatives emotionally blackmailing us asking if they can break 4hr journey from airport, with an hour or so at ours.
AT BLOODY 8.30ish TONIGHT!!
Do we
(a) Laughingly question why any sane person is doing anything tonight between 9 and 10pm? Fake delighted surprise at impromptu visit, make them welcome, try hard not to button them into their coats at 8.59pm, and resign ourselves to iPlayering at 10pm

Thereby missing the 'live' transmission excitement/ communal watching with you crazy folk and immediate MN thread post-mortem. (For us, an equally brilliant part of the experience).
Or
(b) Act like selfish arses, make up some excuse as to why we can't extend 5 star hospitality (well, at least coffee and use of a loo!), feel guilty, and that we are Bad Human Beings...but hooray, hurrah, get to watch LOD finale
They aren't exactly a barrel of laughs...pretty humourless types who wouldn't remotely understand why we'd need to sit in silence, fixated by a (to them) mindless tv show.
Guarantee she'd witter continuously throughout it, and he'd pontificate about it dumbing down the police (a son in Thames Valley Police!).
On the other hand, they're generous to a fault, and we've pit-stopped at theirs at least twice before.
I'm reluctantly thinking (a); DP says sod that, we'll invite them another time soon, and that nothing except natural disaster or ambulance requirement is moving him from LOD finale...
Help. We've got to let them know by 10am.
