Pleaseandthankyou, you can buy the earlier series on DVD from Amazon UK and some supermarkets and HMV or CEX if you have them where you live, and possibly watch them on YouTube. They are brilliant, wouldn't watch with small doc as some bits are nasty in all three series.

FeralBeryl · 24/04/2017 22:38

Ooh I'm doing the forensic rewatch Grin
I'm 11 minutes in to episode 1 and already I'm pretty convinced Roz is a goody.

She arrives at the crime scene (Michael Farmers house which then goes on fire) her mobile goes and its ACC Hilton, she ignores it but exclaims 'wow news travels fast'

She also risks her life to untie Hana from the burning house.

She stops Jodie going to arrest Michael Farmer as 'no one who has been present at this crime scene can go anywhere near Michael because of cross contamination. I'm not having some smart arse lawyer getting him off because of it'

Is this why she's going round cross contaminating everything? Because she wants it to collapse?

Back in a bit...

More dates - Tim writes to Ros to raise his concern about Michael Farmer's guilt on 10th March (at 02:07). She visits him on 17 March and he goes out that night to the DIY store (gets caught on camera in his balaclava).

Leonie disappeared on 25th January.

And yes, from the news report into Michael's arrest, the presenter says that Baswinder's dismembered body was found in November of last year.

OutToGetYou · 24/04/2017 22:44

I just remembered - Jodie said they'd run forensics on the tools found at Ifield's flat and none had been used. What tools were still there? Does this mean someone else came with different tools? That fits with other episodes where fingers have been removed, or threatened to be, with bolt cutters?

tribpot · 24/04/2017 22:48

OutToGetYou I think Tim bought a number of different tools and the killer took away the ones that had been used. But it certainly seems possible that Tim wasn't killed by the tools he bought?

OutToGetYou · 24/04/2017 23:04

Yes, I think a tool audit is needed. What did he buy, what was still there (by us, the cops are clearly clueless!)

Ferrisday · 24/04/2017 23:16

That's a great interview with Adrian Dunbar and the clip explains the trailer

CopperRose · 24/04/2017 23:29

I've just had an idea!!

Tim Ifield^^ was a wrongun after all - he's the man who chops up the bodies.

He feels bad that Farmer was getting fitted up though, which is why he's trying to convince Roz/AC12 etc.

He had called one of the head-honcho bad guys when he thought Roz was dead, and they told him to do 'the usual' and chop her up, ready for when they got there.

Unfortunately, Roz wasn't dead & woke up - scuffle ensued, Roz knocked away Ifield's saw hand, and saw nicked his jugular.

Ifield scratches Roz in the struggle and shock abounds for both.

The head-honcho bad guy (with minions) comes round to deal with dead Roz, but find dying/dead Ifield & shocked/scared/panicking Roz.

This is the point at which Roz's blackmail begins - in her shock & panic she agrees to go along with the cover up of her killing Ifield.

.....Don't know who balaclava man or head-honcho baddy is though.....

FeralBeryl · 24/04/2017 23:30

Right - he's just got back from B&Q Wink
On the plastic sheeting he has laid out:
Yellow hacksaw
Bolt cutters
Green jigsaw which he holds above Roz at the end.

Just skimming through the episodes again...

At the end of episode three when Roz is talking to Hilton in his office he gets a call and asks Roz to leave... Next bit is Steve going to see Nick at his office and there's Maneet making calls SUPPOSEDLY to Steve, but what if she was actually tipping off Hilton about Steve going to Nick?!?

FeralBeryl · 25/04/2017 01:37

Yes Nell and Jamie is also on the phone to someone whilst Steve and Maneet are discussing him going to see Nick H too. Hmm

OP posts:
Fiderer · 25/04/2017 06:07

Jamie bit v weak though. Hastings not asking sarcastingly, "Well who else had access to your account?" & his penny-dropping answer - Maneet.

Did like the Nana scene.

Was v Shock at the amputation. Was it really that bad so quickly?

NoWordForFluffy · 25/04/2017 06:32

It's been a few weeks, Fiderer, so it's not really that quick for a wound that wasn't treated properly for 3+ weeks. MRSA is a nasty piece of work, even when treated.

Episode 1 expires on iPlayer today, even if downloaded, so I'm going to re-watch it again on the train this morning and see what I've missed.

What I did notice yesterday (before I went sleep, rather prematurely!) were all of the pointed looks from Ifield at Farmer's house. Both with others and when he was looking at Roz. There was definitely history of some description there!

WipsGlitter · 25/04/2017 06:59

Blatant place mark

Whywaitfortomorrow · 25/04/2017 07:02

Copper re Ifield being wrongun, i had thought about too, that perhaps he was doing these murders because he had been downtrodden by the DCIs over the years and he was doing to show them he was not some sad little person in forensics. But then I couldn't tie everything else in either Confused
And now body parts been found with both Farmer and Ifield out of picture ConfusedConfused

Roz was extremely rumbled when more body parts found because two suspects were of out the picture - but she seemed initially very surprised before expressing relief it was Leonie.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 25/04/2017 07:11

I always assumed the tools forensics were looking at were the ones Ifield bought, since he didn't get to use them! But then I remembered his fingers.

The blackmail of Roz does work, though : in isolation, you'd think it unlikely the baddies wouldn't kill Roz if events happen as described above, but in Series One, this is what happens with Gates (sorry, minor spoiler) so it would be a parallel and there are lots of those .

Feral , bolt cutters, eh? Interesting....

Whywaitfortomorrow · 25/04/2017 07:12

Please, please can everyone visualise, pray, whatever positive thinking you do to make things happen that this has a satisfactory ending. If this goes the way of the Replacement and other oh so promising dramas, I might just have to get a chainsaw myself.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 25/04/2017 07:20

It's bound to have a silly ending! these things always do, LoD especially Grin

fairycakecentral · 25/04/2017 07:21

Hmm, until yesterday I thought Nick was innocent, however did anyone notice the exchange at the hospital when Roz was accusing him of punishing her (by letting them amputate her arm)? The nurse comes back and Nick says something jovial to her like, "she's delirious, poor thing". It was such an odd thing to say and his tone seemed forced. He probably said it in case the nurse overheard anything but it just jarred a little with me and made me think .Nick actually does have something to hide. Don't think he's balaclava man though.

copperose your theory sounds brilliant. It does seem such an extreme reaction to start chopping up someone you think is dead that it makes sense he had orders from others.

I think the last episode will leave us wanting more answers or there will be a miscarriage of justice, or Hastings will be dismissed, all to to investigated in season 5.

Aside from a few medical miracles, this series has been brilliant

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 25/04/2017 07:37

The ending will be crazy but it won't be wishy-washy and at least 50% of the questions will be answered.

buggerthebotox · 25/04/2017 07:47

I'm loving copper's theory. It does help explain why Tim started chopping at an undead body.

But it wouldn't have bern planned, surely? He wasn't expecting Roz. But he DID seem to be expecting someone else. Hana? Perhaps he knew Roz was onto something and was either told or decided to dismember her when she fell unconscious? But she woke, nicked Tim's jugular, panicked and fled, or maybe not.

I still think that whoever cleaned up afterwards was forensically aware enough to recognise that the isolated blood spatter belonged to Roz and hoped to implicate her with it, maybe just to take the heat off himself/herself.

onedayatatime73 · 25/04/2017 09:45

So I re watched ep 2 last night on the hunt for clues.
When Roz opens the boot to look at Tim's lap top - and discovers that ac12 are investigating she gets upset - goes to close the boot and then as an afterthought decides to swab / switch the forensics. It's odd as it doesn't look premeditated at all. Definitely think she's not the baddie here - just ended up in a situation she can't get out of. It's a really strange moment on second watch.

cheesydoesit · 25/04/2017 09:51

With regards to Jamie's username and password, I thought it was just a nudge to his age and personality. Jamie T, as pp has mentioned is a singer and his band and one of his songs were both called The Pacemakers. Also, I was camping in Yorkshire over the weekend and overheard someone say 'Line of duty tonight!'. I love how into it everyone is. Can't wait for Sunday.

DubiousCredentials · 25/04/2017 09:54

Just watched the whole of ep1 again. I am certain that in the first instance Roz is acting totally normally and professionally. There is nothing to suggest that she is hiding anything or that she is expecting the call or knows about Farmer. Whatever has lead to him being set up, it's not her that's done it. She only starts getting shifty after Hilton visits her and again when she goes to see him and he mentions "facts" and "the truth". Nick also seems to be acting naturally, apart from the scene after Roz returns from arresting Farmer and she says to him "its over" when he looks uncomfortable doesn't comment.

Also re Hana's fingerprint, we see Tim looking at it on the mug in the cafe, next shot is him leaving the forensic evidence room looking worried. So what did he do with it in there? And why did he have cigarette butts, hair etc in his backpack? I also noted a lingering shot of the knife he was using to chop up his peppers, it must be he knife she used to kill him.

It's a shame Tim was bumped off so soon, great actor.

OutToGetYou · 25/04/2017 10:10

Maybe Roz thinks Nick did it (from the bio pic and knowing he lied about where he was a couple of times? Maybe he has 'previous' that Jimmy got him out of?) and thinks she might as well frame Ifield for it as he's dead anyway?
