I thought the ending was building up to show him stood over dead joe miller ...

He was great in that thing with Maggie Gyllenhall a couple of years ago.

God that was so emotional, I was crying at the end and I am a cold soul when it comes to films and TV.

Leaving aside total bloody heartbreak of that ending, this is a very good point. Maybe Ed was scrambling through the grounds of the house stalking her, hence the grass stains on his jacket, and maybe he saw something.

In this house we think the rapist is either ex-husband or taxi driver.

Joe killed him, strangled him to shut him up (half by accident we are led to believe) in the beach hut on the cliff, because they had been meeting in secret for "hugs" and Danny was getting upset, Joe was creepy aspiring-paedophile, telling himself it wasn't wrong.

I was a bit dissatisfied with the ending of that first series, we had a right barney about it on here when I was under a previous name. It seemed a bit lazy "Oh right, he's a secret paedo and oh, Ellie took sleeping pills that night which has never been mentioned before."

Fantastic acting by Andrew Buchan I thought he would walk away and say goodbye to Danny

What was particularly heart-rending was I think that was the older Danny sitting in the boat opposite Mark, as in Danny the age he would have been if he hadn't died.

Devastating ending. One of the saddest things I think I've ever seen on TV.
I think it may be the taxi driver. Could have picked up Neera 's call to the breakdown truck on his radio?

What was the reason Joe got aquitted? I remember he unexpectedly pleaded not guilty in court but was there a crucial piece of evidence or something that got him off wasn't there?

He is just such a pathetic character. That meeting with Mark and he was like 'I didn't mean to kill him' like he was saying 'i didn't mean to knock your tea over' or something????

Joe got off as his lawyer argued Ellie beat the confession out of him.

The other thing i kept thinking about with Mark is Sara Payne's father in real life. After she was murdered her parents split up and he basically drank himself to death and it was just so fucking awful.
