I wish Leo's character had been fleshed out a bit. It was all a bit brief and unsatisfactory. They could have spent time going over his (no doubt abusive) relationship with the girlfriend, and how it got to the point that she'd agree to have sex with Michael just because he told her to.

Agree the church scene was cheesy and as if that many people would have been cajoled into attending in the first place. I know they needed all the main characters in one place, but still!

Totally agree that Mark was a selfish waste of space in the end. I can't stay here, or even spent time with my ex wife and kids, because too many memories, boo hoo Grin

I caught up with it today and found it very upsetting. I was crying from about half way through Blush
I struggled a bit with the grooming storyline because it felt like a 'degrees of rape' and 'degrees of culpability' argument. It was awful he was groomed and yy it was plausible considering his rubbish home life and lack of a decent role model but he still made horrendous choices at every stage. I didn't want to feel manipulated into having to see how rapists 'are made'. It felt too close to how rapists are excused.
Leo was absolutely chilling. But I think Hardy had to make the NAMALT speech because he could see how bloody terrifying it is to be a woman and how vulnerable Miller was feeling as an ex-wife, a mother and a woman.
The only part I got right was the return of the orange anorak Grin

Well, I beg to differ, Graham (evidently, so do these two!).

Glad Millaaagh and Hardy were allowed to stay true to their bantering, affectionate yet spiky, exasperated selves...it was the best thing about the show, IMO.

(We're nearing the max 1000 posts: not sure how much mileage left for a 3rd thread, but for die-hard MNers still keen enough: here's its link) Wink

Elspeth I agree with you.
Mark waltzes off, unencumbered, to wallow.
Beth had to pick herself up and carry on, despite her grief for Chloe and Lizzie. Let's not forget too that Mark was carrying on around the time their son was murdered.
I thought it was ironic when DT told OC, near the end that not all men were bad and she nodded sagely - she, who was married to a murdering paedophile. Jesus wept.

It was a bit boring, the whole series really. It didn't leave me wanting the next episode.

Nowhere near as good as The Missing.
