Hannah for Master! The posh, modest, kindly, wholesome lawyer. She's one big oxymoron.

David should still be in. Travesty. Now left with Mr Ponce and Mr Cheese.

Woolly scarf, shirt collar turned up - Gregg should be on to that.

Molesworth · 09/03/2007 22:36

LOL @ "morbidly fascinated" HAHAHAHA

I think Ben will win

And I'm rubbish at predicting so am hoping I'm wrong and Hannah will triumph

CantSlimWontSlim · 09/03/2007 22:38

I think that it was right that David went tonight. Although his food would be great to eat, his style is much more 'big plates of pub grub', which is not really what Masterchef is about.

I'd really like Steven to start cooking in a way that suggests he should win, as there's something about him that I quite like, but he's not quite there yet is he?

Molesworth · 09/03/2007 22:43

His food today was awful but yesterday he did brilliantly - I think he's going in the right direction, but Ben is already there isn't he?

Tinker · 09/03/2007 22:47

David had a funny little twisted mouth I found a bit of-putting.

I think Steven's food would taste teh best, liek his campness.

pointydog · 09/03/2007 22:47

Ben's been hit and miss. Lacks taste half the time doesn;'t it? Just happened to get it right tonight. He knows how to make it look pretty.

Tinker · 09/03/2007 22:47

off off

CantSlimWontSlim · 09/03/2007 22:48

Ben's sometimes there but not always - he has been criticised for lack of flavour on some occasions, and Greg and John did say yesterday that they couldn't see what he had learned in his restaurant day, as he had done the spicing by rote rather than natural understanding, hence forgetting the salt (as well as overdoing his chilli).

I really do think it's anyone's game at the moment, with all to play for.

(I also liked Dean last year much more than snooty Peter).

pointydog · 09/03/2007 22:49

David was ace. Down to earth, normal, ugly bloke. I like that. Greggish. And he wasn't cocky - he was the opposite, trying his best to talk himself up and believe in himself.

You don't know his pain.

Molesworth · 09/03/2007 22:49

Yes you're right pointy - Ben's curry dish was a disaster!

pointydog · 09/03/2007 22:50

David was not pub grub at all. He was Gary Rhodes stylee, just hasn't yet mastered the art of poncery presentation.

Yo udon't know his skill and pain.

pointydog · 09/03/2007 22:51

Ben's winging it. He and his food look right. Thta's it.

pointydog · 09/03/2007 22:52

Stephen's winging it a la Biggles what with his scarf collection.

CantSlimWontSlim · 09/03/2007 22:52

Very good pub grub though - I didn't mean it as an insult - I'd more than happily eat his food .

Do you know his skill and pain pointydog?

CantSlimWontSlim · 09/03/2007 22:52

lol @ Biggles!

pointydog · 09/03/2007 22:53

I FEEL HIS PAIN INTENSELY. (didn't mean caps but I wuite like them now)

David was so much more than pub grub. Just 'cause he made British food and spoke with a regional accent.

He were shafted.

Molesworth · 09/03/2007 22:54

snort @ david being a normal "ugly" bloke

I have to love steven for his cravats. I'm hoping he'll wear a smoking jacket at some point next week.

foxinsocks · 10/03/2007 18:43

I think they tolerated David's mistakes much longer than they should have done because they liked his style.

Goodness knows how Hannah, Ben and Steven are going to get on this week - that shot (at the end, preview for this week) of the three of them kitted up in army gear made me think of a cross between the video of YMCA and an Animal Cruelty advert of seal pups being beaten.

Ben looks like he's on the verge of tears all the time, Hannah and Steven shake like buildings in a 8 (on the richter scale)earthquake and now they are going to be faced with nerve wracking challenges - I feel like frog marching them to the GP and insisting on valium prescrptions in advance.

AND, as if it could get any worse, all the episodes are on at 8 or 8.30 this week so I'm going to have to Sky+ them so the kids can see them the next day gggggrrrr.

Flower3554 · 11/03/2007 10:41

When is the final on, I've looked through the TV guide and I can't find it anywhere.

Molesworth · 11/03/2007 10:58

I assume the final final programme is on Friday evening?

Flower3554 · 11/03/2007 11:07

My tv guide doesn't have it on all next week. Help anyone

Flower3554 · 11/03/2007 11:11

Phew. Breath Breath slowly. It's ok I've found it.
Its on at 8.30pm next week not 6.30pm as it has been up til now.

purpleturtle · 12/03/2007 20:40

Gggrrrrr

I've been watching this precisely because it's on at a very convenient 6.30 slot when I'm bf ds2 ready for bed. So I've been waiting for this final week's first episode, got carried away on the computer, and missed the first 8 minutes.

Why can't they stick to a schedule?

Molesworth · 13/03/2007 21:00

shit I missed it!!!

damn them changing it to 8.30

can anyone tell me what happened????

TwoIfBySea · 13/03/2007 21:53

Molesworth, they went to Cyprus to cook for the British army there.

First challenge was "in the field" I think you call it, cooking in a tent, not as hard as last year when it was the freezing cold. Anyway, Hannah messed up thinking tinned strawberry jam was proper strawberries and didn't seem to enthusiastic about the task. Ben was acting leader and got really snippy with the army guy when it was pointed out he wasn't really doing his job well, came over as a right tosser. Stephen managed to get his act together and made a clean plate of food, haha, I mean trough of food really.

Second challenge was cooking for the officers, a proper dinner. This time Stephen messed up, wrapping his lobster roll thingy all wrong, Ben didn't serve up enough food (miscounted how many servings he needed.) Good old Hannah did a lot better, making the only edible looking thing of the evening which went down really well.

That is briefly what it was all about. I have to say after redeeming himself slightly Ben has turned out to be a bit of a prat, especially when things aren't going his way, he was really rude to the army cook. He does really well then acts like that. Hope he doesn't win but I think he might.

All of them have posh accents, Masterchef had better watch its diversity
