Mark lied to Carolyn Pickles (the editor) about going to Scotland. There was a whacking great establishing shot of the Liver Building. Joe is in Liverpool.

Carolyn didn't really believe him though did she? She's an ace reporter and knows when someone is fudging the truth.

I'm beginning to think "going night fishing" is a local euphemism...along the lines of dogging! Makes sense, as the seaside location would make it about as commonplace as walking the dog.

Creepy Aaron's mackerel alibi (now disproven) clearly to cover up other parole-breaching activities...meeting up with other Broadchurch porn-sharers? Other women?

Was he relying on his wife to cover for him. And she didn't. Or look too upset when DC Katie arrested him at their door, I noticed. So might there be some repercussion for her there?

Could just be that using such a half-arsed, easily checkable alibi is him toying with the police, and wasting their resources, as payback for (in his view) 'wrongful' conviction/ ongoing harassment.

Or a tactic agreed upon with other suspect(s), to draw police attention away from them?

You've been to Aldeburgh then Thalia; when I go with my friends, who have a house there, we often think the fishing on the beach is a dogging issue - they all get there mid afternoon onwards.

I did wonder if the taxi driver with his radio off in the car park at the party was possibly a dogging scenario?? Could also explain the wink from Leo to taxi man last night? Maybe it's a dogging ring and someone filmed it- taxi man's son to show his mum that her partner is cheating? So possibly not related to Trish's attack but could explain some of the weird goings on and covering up?

Released rapist's wife surprises me- she has clearly had her partner just do time for a rape (or if he is to be believed, a 'cheat') while they were in a relationship, has waited 2 years for his release and now this. And if his story about the rape being consensual but he liked 'to play' as he put it with gags and ties, then she probably has had to put up with that as well. Possibly not a very happy marriage??

cherrytree I remember that series with Trevor Eve too - always wondered what happened to the actress who played the girl. Hadn't realised the dad was in this though. Off to google ...

I was correct about the detective's dd so im even more confident my theory that the rapist is the Manor House owner is right I'm convinced at this point that it's him

I am suspicious of him too Wishful...not enough red herrings about him which makes me suspicious in itself. Trying. Desperately to remember what else I have seen him in too.

Not sure what is going on with the young detective but lots of focus on her at times...and also camera focusing in on her expressions to stuff. Something going on with her.

So the Manor House owner could be planting evidence, such as the sock?

Or deliberately hiding evidence - have they found what was used to knock Trish unconscious yet?

The Manor House owner is a respected stage actor. He's been around in bits and pieces and was Jeremy Iron's army driver in Brideshead Revisited. He's too much of an "actor's name" to be cast in a tertiary part. I'd keep an eye on him if I were you taps nose

I wonder if he only comes to the party house in the summer (because obviously he will have a town house in London for the rest of the year). Then he would fit with the seasonal aspect too . . .

He said that the cricket bat in the hallway was one of a pair and I don't think we've seen the other one.

The rapist has to be someone who has not given a DNA sample because the results have come back and they were able to match one of the samples with Cath's husband (Jim) since he had given a sample. There must be other DNA that they found when they swabbed poor old Trish and they haven't said 'we've only found one set of DNA and it belongs to Jim'. Ed has also given a sample (I believe?) so he is not the rapist. So who has not given a sample?

Trish's husband (Ian) refused to give one. What about taxi-driver (Clive) and rope boy (Leo)? Have they given samples?

If someone can remember who HASN'T given DNA samples then we can narrow down the shortlist .... (although of course it could still be Jim Attwood but I think that is unlikely).

Wouldn't they have found more DNA by now if there was any in the samples?

Only person we definitely know HASN'T Given a dna sample is Ian.

We're not sure about ed, Clive (taxi driver) has given a sample and it didn't match, rope boy has, Michael (taxi drivers stepson) hasn't but we think he's too young anyway.

Definitely Liverpool; saw Lime St station marked on the road sign in the shot where Mark was driving.

Maybe the third victim is the young police woman? She seems a bit like she knows stuff.
As for the actual rapist I have no idea, everyone seems too suspicious, but they're all do nasty I want them all to have done it so they can all go to prison.
I think there must be a porn ring element to it, someone is making porn..maybe all the creepy men? That was where the millers son got the porn from? Because surely its gotta be something other than basic porn for teenage boys to be distributing it. They will all have seen porn so its got to be a bit more shocking

I thought Ian was just breaking into Trish's to sleep because his gf had thrown him out and Ed wouldn't let him stay in the caravan. I'd forgotten all about the laptop - duh!
Maybe Ed has a rapist son who stays in the caravans in the summer but Ed doesn't realise he is back yet. Although I will be a bit annoyed if the caravans are significant again.Not everyone who has a caravan is dodgy
