Fingers crossed for you Ilove!

Yorks - that looks nasty! I've only ever had one black eye - a badminton incident (!) but I'm sure everyone thought I was "protesting too much" because I felt the need to tell everyone how it had happened in case they thought it was domestic violence!

YorksOAP
Yes Always that's what I seem to be doing even while DH is there!!

Ilovelblue · 02/03/2017 23:25

Yorks you have been in the wars. That looks nasty. I fell last year on the pavement outside my house - felt really stupid and I managed to wind myself as well so was gasping for air as I tried to get up.

My VR is actively being chased by my manager - he doesn't know why the figures are taking so long to come through because he approved them about 10 days ago. We've provisionally agreed a date of 17 March. He had said 24 March but I will be coming back from southern Spain on that day so we've gone for the week before. Eeeeek, it's becoming very real now.

pixieg1rl · 03/03/2017 10:06

I had no idea the date was so close ilove. That is indeed very exciting/terrifying. I hope your final date comes through soon.

Hopefully ilove every thing goes to plan and you will have all the better weather to enjoy at home

Rhubarb01 · 03/03/2017 19:36

Evening! It's Friday and I really feel like a drink right now but I have to wait until I've been out and collected DD and some friends of her and delivered them home. I could just about throttle the entire family tonight. It's too complicated to explain but they've all got the hump about various things and needless to say I'm getting it in the neck from all of them. I've just had a rant and told them all to "be off with themselves" sort of! Grrrr!

I didn't realise your VR would be so soon either ilove. Hope it all goes as you're wish- - exciting times and the world is your oyster!

I also spotted Molly's Nan in Prime Suspect - that's what the poor lady will always be to us, I've no idea what her real name is .

Ilovelblue · 03/03/2017 19:52

Got the final figures this afternoon. It's a very strange feeling to see it all in black and whilte and I felt rather wobbly. My two immediate colleagues thought I was going to cry, but it was just the shock and reality of seeing it all in black and white. I have two weeks left to work. It would have been three weeks but I am away in Spain that last week. It's definitely a very, very strange set of emotions.

pixieg1rl · 03/03/2017 21:03

I hope when the weirdness subsidies it goes smoothly ilove. I'm sure you'll keep yourself busy.

icemistOBE · 04/03/2017 06:56

Oh ilove!so glad it's all sorted. I'm sure it will be very strange at first not going to work! We can meet up soon!

Morning all. Looks as if it was quiet on here yesterday. What's everyone up to? I had an old work friend up from Manchester yesterday which was very pleasant apart from the fact she turned up half an hour early and I was still in my dressing gown as I'd been making our meal ready! Need to do some ff reviews today so apologies Rhu for my late response.

Richtea19 · 05/03/2017 11:58

I was a breast cancer fund raising lunch yesterday which was fantastic. I've been going for the last 9 years and we manage to raise some great amounts of money. I won a "booze bag" including champagne, wine and chocs from the raffle and a beautiful decorated sponge cake from the guess the weight of the cake!

My MIL goes to see the oncologist tomorrow. SIL has gone back to Australia, so was basically over to make herself feel better and going home when we really need her! I've "de friended" on her FB as I can't stand her daily diary progress report on my MIL. It is so not appropriate to air on FB.

Boring housework day today, I've so much washing and ironing to do, good job it's raining!

I've started reading the Outlander book, Crossstitch. It's bloody brilliant, i now need to find out how I can watch it too as we do t have Netflix.

pixieg1rl · 05/03/2017 15:45

Outlander is on Amazon prime or you can download from iTunes etc. (Or you could dm me your address and I'll lend you the DVDs)

Nickel45 · 05/03/2017 23:11

Wow rich sounds like you had, and are going to have, a good time from your lunch. Brilliant :)
ilove so pleased everything is working out well with the redundancy. Bet you'll love not working (pretty sure I would!!). Now you'll have lots of free time (bet you don't!) you'll have to come South more often Wink
Just caught up with CTM. So impressed with the thalidomide storyline. And liking Trixies dentist, very easy on the eye!

pixieg1rl · 05/03/2017 23:29

I noticed Trixie's dentist did a bit of BA 'open your mouth to say something' acting. Maybe it's subliminal nickel

Ilovelblue · 06/03/2017 08:21

Thanks Nickel. Maybe I could do a UK tour like we organised for CJ? Even better if we got CJ to come along too.

Rich I know of a cancer sufferer who insisted on putting every detail on Facebook. I hate to say this but she was always an attention seeker and it was difficult to know whether to respond to her comments or not. I tended to leave well alone.

Ilovelblue · 06/03/2017 08:22

Off to work now for my last but one Monday.

Ilovelblue · 06/03/2017 08:23

PS don't you think the dentist in CTM has a look of her former fiance, the curate?

Rhubarb01 · 06/03/2017 18:59

Evening all! (channelling my inner George Dixon of Dock Green)

Hope you've all had a good weekend and satisfactory Monday. Seeing as we're talking about similarities between Trixie's dentist and OG - spot the plot similarity - Dentist has kept secret the fact that he's divorced and has a child! Mind you that still doesn't explain why Trixie found a perfume soaked ladies scarf in his car? Are we supposed to think that was his ex-wife's? I love the fact that they are continuing stories from the last series with the little Thalidomide girl. When they were sitting at the table at the end all telling their stories I was wiping away the tears. I can remember an older boy at school who was a Thalidomide child. He had very short legs and arms but could walk without assistance and was in the sixth form. It must have been so daunting for families back then when there was so little knowledge of the condition or what it would mean going forwards.

As for the other dramas I watched last night, I have to rewatch both as I fell asleep through significant sections which made them meaningless - so that's my task for this evening plus trying to watch episode one of The Replacement before tomorrow.

Richtea19 · 06/03/2017 20:34

Thanks pix for the DVD offer but DH has found all the episodes on his Kodi box thing where they show all box sets and movies etc.
I'm in for the binge watch!

Ilovelblue · 08/03/2017 08:09

Going back to the thalidomide storyline, I was born in 1962 and my Mum mentioned a few times how she had been offered the drug. I'd forgotten all about it until CTM. Scary thought.

I'm really on a wind down at work now and trying to write crib sheets for some of the things where I am the only person who knows anything about them. It feels very odd.

Nickel45 · 08/03/2017 08:14

I was only a little while lat, ilove, it is truly scary, it's our generation.
How's your last weeks going? Has it sunk in yet? Any plans for when you finish?

pixieg1rl · 08/03/2017 13:13

Not long now ilove. The nearest I've been to that is the handover for maternity leave, it's strange to let go of things you've been the only person doing for so long.

Talking of mat leave, has anyone been watching The Replacement? Really intriguing stuff, although the writing seems quite manipulative at times.

Alwaysfrank · 08/03/2017 16:01

Hello all!

I had a private message from someone who reads this thread but doesn't post who was at the same evening as me for "Run the beast down". She pointed out that the people Ben was sitting with in the bar afterwards were none other than Tony Grounds and Caroline Skinner! I'm certain it was TG - he exchanged some pleasantries with dh at the bar about the beer, before the show (did I mention that dh was enamoured with the craft beers Smile) and although I didn't make the connection at the time, it definitely was him. I didn't get such a good look at the woman but can only assume the lady who contacted me was right. In which case, Rich did your brave friend who joined them get any OG Intel?! You must ask her!

Rhubarb01 · 08/03/2017 16:23

Nice Intel Always! Let's hope they were discussing all things CJ!

DH was spared from CR this time but I expect it will rear its head again. Its a pretty regular occurrence. I haven't paid any attention to the Budget but I bet it's not good.

Ilovelblue · 08/03/2017 23:15

I know what Mr Rhu must be feeling Rhu. We have gone through it so many times since 2012 and is why I put in for VR this time - just couldn't face it all again.

Always what a great story! I do hope they were all discussing OG? It goes to show we tend to forget there are people who read all our drivel but don't post.

I've said I will work as a volunteer at the children's hospice which we raise funds for once I finish and have also applied to be a dog walker for a charity! Plus I want to take at least 6 months off to see whether I need to find a part time job and/or have enough money and enough to do. Not forgetting all the usual stuff such as housework, shopping, gardening etc which I won't need to cram into a weekend.

At a meeting I attend once a month and would be the last I went to this morning, they presented me with £80 of Jamie Oliver restaurant vouchers
which was a lovely surprise.
