PS: Yes, I'm watching The Replacement. Didn't think it was quite as good as last week but still very watchable. The actress who is playing the replacement architect looks very much like the woman who has been doing my physio.

Good morning lovely and sunny here at the moment if a bit windy
I am trying not to get too carried away with the meeting of TG KS and BA but it does mean they are still 'in touch'. Any glimmer of hope keeps me going.

I think ilove you are going to be busier than ever when you finish work but hope you really enjoy your different life. Certainly no set timetable will be much more relaxing

PS I think one or two of you said you were Tom Chambers fans in the past and he is popping into both Casualty and holby each time so a nice bit of eye candy to keep me going!!!!

Oops posted too soon meant to add that CJ/BA has really ruined it for anyone else though!

Ilovelblue · 09/03/2017 22:31

Evening all.

Yes Yorks I am a Tom Chambers fan. I know what you mean though that CJ (perhaps a bit more than BA) has spoiled it for anyone else.

People keep asking me how it feels to be finishing. All I can say is that I will be very, very sad to leave the people but not sorry to be leaving the company which is definitely not what it used to be. How I will feel in a week's time, I am not sure. A week tomorrow will be my last day.

Rhubarb01 · 09/03/2017 22:49

I know exactly what you mean ilove. I had a period of quite a few years of not working when the kids were younger and I have to say I never missed the work or my job but I did miss the people and the social side of work and that relationship with people. On the other hand, when I stopped 'working' I used to wonder how I ever had time to go to work at all as I was always very busy. By the sounds of it I really don't think you'll have time to get bored. It's a good plan to give yourself six months, I bet it will fly past.

Did anyone watch Prime Suspect 1973? It's ok but I don't think it's in the same league as Endeavour although it's based on a novel so I suppose it's not going to be in quite the same mould.

pixieg1rl · 09/03/2017 22:52

I'm enjoying Prime Suspect, though it's not exactly taxing. Mind you, on a day like today it's just what I needed.

Alwaysfrank · 10/03/2017 20:47

So one week to go ilove - strange and exciting at the same time I'm sure. I read with interest a sponsored thread about "returnships" as I've been wondering whether I ought to try and return to my "proper"career which I abandoned some years ago. (I have been working very flexibly in a much lesser role, of course for a lot less money). It's tricky because whilst the extra dosh would be very welcome, do I really want to go back to a proper job with only a few weeks holiday a year? I'm not sure I do really!

Rhubarb01 · 10/03/2017 21:36

It's the classic dilemma really isn't it Always. Before I had the little darlings I also had far more of what would be called a 'career' - professional qualifications, better pay but also much longer hours and a lot more stress. I now use only about a quarter of the skills I had with the resulting big drop in pay BUT I actually enjoy my work much more and I look at it quite differently. Before, much of what I thought of as personal achievements and successes were related to my job but not anymore. I'm more interested in finding personal fulfilment from things outside of work that I enjoy doing. I've also realised that even though I was quite competent in my previous job there were only certain aspects that I actually enjoyed and large parts I didn't that made me feel very stressed. In my current job I'm able to focus on the aspects I enjoy. It's also a completely different industry and what we do has a real impact on other people's lives. That has made quite a difference to how I view the job.

That all sounds a bit like 'Thought for the Day' so having done the philosophical bit let me now think of a few things I enjoy doing outside of work, hmmmmmn- no can't think of anything Grin

Ilovelblue · 11/03/2017 22:40

Evening all. It looks as if it's been quiet on here. I was babysitting for my friend's two boys last night and they were at least an hour later home than they said. I fell straight into bed when I got home. The heating had gone off and I couldn't work out how to turn it on either! I might take a hot water bottle next time.

Rhu and Always your comments make me think about the husband of one of my close friends who had a heart attack and is now recuperating after a bypass operation. He was the type of person who defined himself by how important he was at work (well, in reality, how important he THOUGHT he was at work). It came as a shock to him I think that the place has functioned perfectly well during his absence. He does have hobbies but my friend is a little concerned as to how he will adapt to retirement in a couple of years.

I wish there was some OG news.

Off to bed shortly.

Nickel45 · 11/03/2017 22:51

Just caught up with Prime Suspect, and really enjoying it, a real page turner, or whatever the TV equivalent is!

pixieg1rl · 11/03/2017 23:36

I've spent the day in the garden, gorgeous weather today, it's lovely, pottering about, tidying up, but I'm aching tonight. It was great to get out though.

I know what you mean ilove. I hope we hear some casting news soon.

Ilovelblue · 12/03/2017 10:03

I spent yesterday afternoon in the garden too pixie. I think spring is here. I need to start some potatoes off in bags and leave them in the greenhouse. One of my first jobs when I finish work though is to paint the back fence. I find that sort of painting quite therapeutic as you don't have to be too precise.

Off to The Clink today for Sunday lunch. I am clearly taken with prison food!

Richtea19 · 12/03/2017 17:04

nickel I'm watching Prime Suspect too and really enjoying it. I can't work out what the actress has been in before, she's really pretty though. I'm loving The Replacement, of course Richard Rankin helps!!!

My life has been taken over reading across Stitch (Outlander book 1) followed by watching the first series on TV. It's soooo good. I've just started reading book 2 before I watch season 2.

I too managed to get in the garden yesterday but today is rainy and quite miserable. Had MIL over for lunch so now I'm finishing off the wine chilling out!

I can't believe there's no OG news yet!!! Has no one got any Intel????

Rhubarb01 · 12/03/2017 18:25

Evening. I've been having a mini binge watch of OG2 this afternoon and I have to say that I think it's much better viewed in bigger chunks. I found myself actually engaging with Georgie's character (she really wasn't very glam in the first two episodes apart from her teeth - it's just envy on my part!) and had a twinge of emotion at the end of episode two. I also think that CJ's role seems better viewed this way - not so disjointed or quite so peripheral. Perhaps it was just watching it initially in one hour sections a week apart that made us so critical? I've found that I prefer to watch stories in their entirety if I can (The Living and the Dead and Happy Valley being examples) and they have more of an impact. Oh well, just saying, in the absence of any OG3 intel.

It's drama night tonight for me, Call the Midwife, SS-GB and The Good Karma Hospital (light relief after the middle one). It's probably the only night of the week I make an effort to watch live TV.

Ilovelblue · 12/03/2017 21:42

How is your MIL Rich?

Rhu Call the Midwife needed tissues at the ready tonight, didn't it?

Had a lovely lunch at the prison again though somebody decided to put a rather controversial comment on my Facebook post. He apparently didn't think we should patronise the prison restaurant at the expense of other eating establishments where nobody had committed a crime. The person in question is pretty opinionated at the best of times.

This popped up earlier. Not a Sun reader, I have to say but maybe there could be some truth in it. Who knows?

The pud looks delicious ilove

MIL is doing really well, although her treatment hasn't started yet. She has quite an aggressive form of cancer so she will start chemotherapy in a couple of weeks, she also gets an injection of a special drug. When the chemo is finished she starts radiotherapy, so quite a long way to go. She is going to the wig makers today,

It's a beautiful morning, sun shining and im off to the hygienist!

Alwaysfrank · 13/03/2017 08:10

Rich - we were relying on you (well your friend) for Intel - see my post from 8/3!

Alwaysfrank · 13/03/2017 08:13

Sorry - cross post Rich, I sound heartless. It sounds like your mil is in good hands. I hope she finds a good wig. A friend who is undergoing chemo loves hers! Think it was very pricey though.

Richtea19 · 13/03/2017 08:47

Sorry frank I must of missed that! No Intel I'm sorry. If she did get any then she didn't share with me!

I'm guessing we will find out through the normal route ... The Daily Mail ! Confused

user1471547055 · 13/03/2017 17:55

YorksOAP
Hi, have just read your post rich and guess what there is an article on the DM about MK which says she will be starting filming in South Africa for OG this month !!

Rhubarb01 · 13/03/2017 17:56

Evening. Oh my goodness ilove, I had to get the buckets out for Call The Midwife last night for lots of different reasons - when Trixie asked the children to say goodnight to Mummy, when Shelagh's happy event occurred and when Barbara made an honest man of the vicar (loved the incident in the bathroom though!).

Rich glad to hear your MIL is doing well and staying positive.

pixieg1rl · 14/03/2017 18:39

Rhu while I was dicking about on Twitter at work I read a tweet from someone who met Rik Rankin at the weekend who said they had a long conversation about Crimson Field and how they had planned 4 series of it before it cor cancelled.

kazzaD66 · 14/03/2017 20:45

I did enjoy Richard Rankin The Crimson Field, so much so that I bought the DVD so that I could rewatch RR and his brilliant facial expressions the series again. Still not completely sold on his beard though, but perhaps now nothing can quite match up to the loveliness that is BA Grin
