University Challenge, especially Monkman

Is it just me who thinks that Monkman, the captain of the Wolfson college, Cambridge, team is the best thing on TV?

We give some of the more striking contestants nicknames, Oscar Powell was Babyman, Boyle is Woodstock etc. Two from a team now eliminated were Crabbe & Goyle (DD not me!)

Aw, shame, there I was thinking that Mr Boyle is distinctly easy on the eye and he goes and disappears.

Monkman v Goldman will be epic although unlike the semi against Seagull I think Monkman's going to have the public completely on his side !

Don't be too sad, Megatherium. In Casa Nettle we decided that Boyle and Smith (who is the real brains of the Edinburgh team) were a bit sulky and petulant when outfaced by the Goldman/Pope blitzkrieg, and that it was unbecoming and unsportsmanlike.

Goldman did some good gloating, we thought. So did we.

Agree that the final is going to be EPIC. Monkman v Goldman with Chaudhri (the ginger bloke from Cumbria, we are bamboozled by his surname) and Pope holding their coats.

BTW apparently Boyle properly fancies himself. My stepdaughter is at Edinburgh and says he keeps turning up on the meadows shirtless to dig up bits of turf and pose.

Ah, right, that's killed any Boyle-fancying round here stone dead.
