Is anyone else eagerly awaiting the arrival of taboo starring my lover the beautiful Mr Hardy on Saturday 7th of jan?

Or do I have him all to myself? Grin

Can't decide whether to watch now on the pooter or til tomorrow (my day off) on the big telly whilst still in bed. Hmm may just binge the whole series in bed tomorrow.
Need to watch that Kray film haven't seen that yet.
Not gonna get much done tomorrow I think. Might google the scene in Bronson when he covers himself in butter so the guards can't keep hold of him.

happypoobum · 26/02/2017 16:38

Just caught up as out last night.

Loved the ending. I think Zilpha is dead - I had no interest in her as a character really other than the effect she had on JD and his decisions.

I thought it was quite touching, the final scene between JD and Lorna, so glad she survived, I really liked her. Sad about the doc, I don't think he will survive.

Can't wait for series 2.

PMSL at "Bring your sister to work day" I will keep everything crossed for you force

diddl · 26/02/2017 16:40

Yes, they didn't really seem to know what to do with the zilpha character, did they?

And then (imo), Lorna seemed so much more interesting.

Obviously yes it was the way it was written, but without the incest it would still have been a watchable series!

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 16:44

Thanks happy Grin

Did anyone else properly laugh when he walked out of the house telling Lorna he had things to do and would be back later when they would board together, her little face just lit up! Grin she lurrrves him!

I don't want Zilpha to be dead - she a complex character and the dynamic between her and James is other worldly. Like Cathy and Heathcliffe.

happypoobum · 26/02/2017 17:59

inkanta that's probably the problem for me - Can't stand Wuthering Heights Grin

diddl · 26/02/2017 18:12

Like Cathy & Heathcliff-no wonder it doesn't interest me then!!

Never could decide which of those characters I disliked the most!!

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 18:16

TH had bad hair in wuthering heights! Grin if it's possible I think he was even grumpier in it than in taboo.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/02/2017 18:19

I can't watch WH because of the hair. That's how shallow I am.

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 18:24

Grin it was hard but I persevered. For tom.

[Grin] - Wuthering Heights is pain and pleasure. As Kate Bush sang - 'Ooh the thrill and the hurting'.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/02/2017 18:27

You brave thing, you.Wink

He looks very baby faced in it and not what I imagine Heathcliff tbh. He's more rugged these days.

JD is like a sort of Uber-Heathcliff. With far better hair.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/02/2017 18:32

I did. Also thought it was clever that when JD was being all mopey about Zilpha that Lorna reminded him that there were a whole bunch of people relying on him. If the programme is a vanity project for TH, JD is his own vanity project - he is the only man in London who is his own master and he can't therefore let his own people down.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/02/2017 18:40

Oh it is a vanity project. TH plays the anti-hero and psychopath very well. He's made a career out of it and that side of human nature obviously interests him greatly. He's said in interviews very often that he's not a manly person himself and that he runs on fear and is generally quite scared of very masculine, scary men. He plays the characters he wants to be and JD is the amalgamation of all those classic iconic psycho/macho men but who are not all black and white that he has played over and over again.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/02/2017 18:57

Blush killed the thread with my over- analysis.

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 19:00

Totally agree. I think TH is plagued with insecurities. Watch him in interviews, he is nervy with eyes darting about all over the place, very little eye contact. He speaks with a low voice, and struggles to find his words. Not at all the gruff, arrogant, cocky characters he plays. Acting is how he gets to have and explore those characteristics that he doesn't possess IRL.

Low voice = low volume.

Some good analysis - here. Smile

foofooyeah · 26/02/2017 19:18

I loved that last episode. Chemist must survive ..... please. Love the character and Tom Hollander. Thought the boy was good this week and liked the bit where he was singing to let James know they were all set.

I might have to watch it all again.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/02/2017 19:22

Foofoo, I reckon the chemist will live on in a very scarred and hairless way Grin.

One, yes TH can come across like that in interviews. I think anxiety has played a big part in his life. And of course an addict is an addict which usually carries it's own psychological 'quirks' whether they are an active addict or not!

Laska5772 · 26/02/2017 19:24

OK.. (forgive me if I am being a bit dumb here ) so JD was working for the Americans all along anyway and killed the American doctor because he was a double agent ?

I still cant work out the whole Zilpha thing though.. was all a bit weird..

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 19:28

He wasn't really working for the Americans, he was working with the Americans, providing them with gun powder, in return for them guaranteeing him free passage to Nootka. At the end when he said "we are Americans, he meant that they are Americans now a son that's where they were going to be living.

OP posts:
OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 19:29

as that's!

OP posts:
Laska5772 · 26/02/2017 19:34

one thats what I thought , but now I am not sure... Whats in it for him? . Just freedom from prosecution ? The Americans want Nootka also dont they?

pieceofpurplesky · 26/02/2017 19:40

So is series 2 him going after Stuart Strange's brother? And more about the slave that frees him!
