I hope the chemist (I won't attempt to spell his name) doesn't die he was quite fun and seemed to really care for the boy. I also hope Lorna doesn't die as she is a brilliant character and I think JD needs her.

JamesDelaneysHat · 25/02/2017 22:43

Oh God it'll be bloody aaaaages till series 2 what with TH being a massive Hollywood star etc. Ooh is that JD's house Sativa?!

JamesDelaneysHat · 25/02/2017 22:44

Yes the horse was always very clean, Angel. More symbolism I'm sure, the show was chock full of it.

springydaffs · 25/02/2017 22:48

This dropped off my watch list and I've waded through MN specifically to find out what happened. That is, I saw it but have no idea what's going on. Mainly bcs I'm terrified to watch bcs of all the brutality and gruesomeness and torture. (whoever mentioned the greater was WRONG to mention it) (I didn't know about a greater).

So, one, what's happening? Tell all, please in fact a full series synopsis wouldn't go amiss

springydaffs · 25/02/2017 22:51

Drat predictive! GRATER.

Now that's firmly lodged in my head

OneWithTheForce · 25/02/2017 22:54

You know what would be the BEST THING EVER? A lie sit down interview with TH where he explained all the symbolism and thought processes behind the whole show. Scene by scene of course. Wink

Yes One, and he'd have to do it in character as James Delaney. Oh yes.

Oh I'm going to miss Taboo on a Saturday night, and this thread.

OneWithTheForce · 25/02/2017 23:09

Yes in his nightie. With his hat on.

My sister may have the possibility of working with TH in a period show in the near future. (She taunts me about it) I am going to have her insist he wears a nightie.

What is this one, TH in another period drama? drools

OneWithTheForce · 25/02/2017 23:22

Possibly, in talks, nothing confirmed. I really really hope it happens on take your sister to work day. That's a real day isn't it?

I wonder if shuffling round in a nightie is what script calls for Grin very disappointed by that, in that he just touches her arm. A little more needed I feel.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 25/02/2017 23:52

Poor Brace. He really loved JD didn't he? Nice to see the dog though.

Sativa · 26/02/2017 00:35

Yes ! It's just down the road from me & I drive past it every day. I saw the film crew there but at the time didn't know what they were filming or I might've shown a bit more interest !

TheFullMrexit · 26/02/2017 08:48

Stavia where is it, high gate

daimbardiva · 26/02/2017 09:17

Really enjoyed this last episode - the violence was slightly less stomach churning and JD didn't disembowell sir Stuart, though he still met asticky end. Zilpha must be dead - how else could they resolve that storyline? Pretty sure Lorna will survive as otherwise there'd be no female characters left - thought she was great last night. Also really hoping that cholmondeley survives - another great character. Perhaps he was apologising to Godfrey symbolically as a representative of all women?! I also thought Jonathan pryce was consistently great - and the other one whose name I don't know - the grey-haired king's henchman? I thought the king was much better last night too - previously I'd found the prosthetics all a bit pantomimey. Maybe it was because he was sitting down for the whole episode!

Thank you to whoever up-thread pointed out how beautiful the staging was - I think either the torture had obscured that for me or my finger-print smeared TV didn't do it justice but I noticed it much more last night. The backdrop to Zilpha's suicide was breathtaking.

FedUpWithBriiiiiick · 26/02/2017 09:26

The scene that took my breath away was when JD was doing away with Dumbarton, and the vat of blue dye was so vividly blue against the grime of the room. Fabulous cinematography and PD.

FedUpWithBriiiiiick · 26/02/2017 09:31

I agree Mark Gatiss as Prince Regent was the only sticking point, I felt he was a bit pantomime-y. However, reading up on him, apparently he was absolutely grotesque IRL. So maybe a better portrayal than I thought!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/02/2017 11:39

Prinny was grotesque. I don't think it's a poor portrayal.

boilingkettle · 26/02/2017 13:43

Haven't posted on this thread before but have been avid Delaney watcher since ep1 and reader of this hilarious and informative thread for last few weeks. Was I imagining things or did we see Zilpha in the water during the suicide, floating but then she did a big gasp and started to swim upwards? So I don't think she is dead. Big incestuous lurve triangle for series 2... Or she'll be used as a lure by Delaney's many enemies.
I loved the line from Sir Stuart about Godfrey being hidden in the "dark alleys and backstreets where Delaney is King and it is treason to give him up".

randomer · 26/02/2017 13:56

Love a costume drama and the scenes of London were tremendous. The rest of it I disliked a great deal.

diddl · 26/02/2017 14:03

Does anyone else hope that Zilpha is dead?

Sativa · 26/02/2017 14:05

TheFullMrexit - no it's in Stepney!

TheFullMrexit · 26/02/2017 15:45

Thank Stavia Smile

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/02/2017 16:15

The Zilpha suicide is very ambiguous imo so it could go either way. Tbh she wasn't really a great or interesting character which was really the fault of the writer, Steven Knight. She was just a vessel for James Delaney and who maybedied in the ultimate passive aggressive way that some writers have female characters go - suicide. He's lucky that he also had the Lorna character to make up for it!
