A new thread for the new year Smile

Will the truth come out about how Roxy and Ronnie died yesterday?
Will the new exec producer lose his obsession with bins?
Has Max really forgiven Jane, Ian and Phil?
What secret does the new 'Chelle have?
Will Johnny Sausage learn to act?
Is Denise going to go through with the adoption?
What's going to happen with Lee?
What are your hopes for EE this year?

Come and discuss here!

Well, after last night its not going to a 'happy new year; for jack, the mitchells, Glenda and that mute brother of theirs!
Or Max.

bluebell34567 · 02/01/2017 10:43

do they have to kill the characters all the time? it is going away from the real life.

bluebell34567 · 02/01/2017 10:43

now they killed 2 of them.

Pud2 · 02/01/2017 10:45

It isn't real life! If it was too close to real love fe it would be pretty dull.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 02/01/2017 10:46

Thanks for the new thread Smile
Just caught up, loved the episode last night, really gripping.

I thought Ronnie looked gorgeous, even though her veil was a teeny bit like my mum's net curtains in the 80's. Wink
Was getting sick of all Roxy's dramatics on the day. She will/won't come to the wedding, she won't come to Ongar and then flouncing off to the car. She seemed hell bent on spoiling the day.

I thought Roxy's dress might have got caught but she did float to the surface at the end. I guess we'll never know. I wonder if people will blame Roxy as Ronnie was always viewed as the sensible one? even though she murdered a couple of people.

Jack fell asleep with the kids, so I predict Max will find the sisters Sad.

My hopes for EE this year? The drama continues, they bring back the cliff hanger duff duffs and far fetched storylines, Lee gets help and doesn't top himself and Nancy comes back, preferably with the same head.

celeste84 · 02/01/2017 10:58

A very appropriate time for the old thread to max out and a new thread to begin Smile Looking forward to tonight's episode.

celeste84 · 02/01/2017 10:59

I watched the last 5 mins of last nights episode again this morning. Roxy was definitely motionless before Ronnie entered the water and never moved again. Ronnie simply got caught up in her wedding dress.

MrsJayy · 02/01/2017 11:08

Yeah Roxy was dead before Ron went in. I saw the floating bit at mums my dad flicked it over i was like lalala cant see it

IhatchedaSnorlax · 02/01/2017 11:12

I'm so annoyed that they killed them off - just let people have some bloody happiness!!

celeste84 · 02/01/2017 11:17

The actresses asked to be killed off though.

MrsJayy · 02/01/2017 11:18

Ronnie &Roxy wou,d have hated Ongar they wouldnt have had a happy ending

coolpotato · 02/01/2017 11:19

Just been reading on wiki that Samantha Womack and Scott Matalan (jack b) are very close friends in real life. Families often go on hols together and they are godparents to each other's kids etc. Must have made it a bit harder to film the inevitable scenes coming up.

coolpotato · 02/01/2017 11:19

Matalan?! Maslan I meant! Shock

Lifeisbeautiful2 · 02/01/2017 11:21

I wondered if the necklace Ronnie was wearing got snagged and choked her, especially as it broke off and went to the bottom. Who knows?!

gunnergirl · 02/01/2017 11:21

Was very disappointed how 2 good character were killed off that way also please hurry up and get lee out

IhatchedaSnorlax · 02/01/2017 11:54

Celeste, I read that they wanted an explosive exit storyline but absolutely didn't want to be killed off.

Streuth · 02/01/2017 13:03

I also found EE shocking last night.

You knew something strange was going to happen. That Sinatra song in the car about witchcraft. Roxy dressed in black. Their complete recklessness sitting on top of that high wall, drunk, and nearly falling off.

Maybe they couldn't face domestic life in Ongar! Especially after their free party Ibiza livestyles. In other words, it was a different kind of "Thelma and Louise" ending.

They were also very strange sisters to my mind, very overly-involved in each others lives. Maybe they didn't want to be separated confused.

I actually liked the attempt to do something interesting. Apparently there's a new producer at EE. So much better than looking at Phil's puffy face in a hospital bed for the umpteenth time. But I also found it too traumatic an ending. Her entanglement with her wedding dress was squeamish to watch. Drowned by her own attempt to be conventional? Her up and coming nupitals were never convincing.

There will also be even more misery on Albert Square, ugh. Lee has only just escaped suicide. Its just toooooo grim that programme. But I found the two Ronnies, or Roxy and Ronnie, were dull characters really, two-dimensional cardboard cut outs, and their stories had nowhere to go. Still a traumatic and sad ending though.

celeste84 · 02/01/2017 13:57

You ask for an explosive exit in soaploand and you are pretty much guaranteed to be killed off. The actresses knew what they were asking for. I wouldn't be surprised if they even got tired of basically doing the same storylines over and over and will be pleased to have gone out in a exit that people will remember.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/01/2017 14:22

They were very over involved in each others lives Confused

They shared men, Jack was Father to Ronnies son, Roxys daughter and Sam Mitchel (cousin?) son

Then Roxy was going to cop off with Max - Ronnies BiL.

All the "Mitchell Sisters and Branning Brothers"

LineyReborn · 02/01/2017 14:34

It was a striking tableau at the end, all a bit Ophelia / pre-raphaelite.

celeste84 · 02/01/2017 14:40

Yeah that Mitchell sisters and Branning brothers in one hotel comment was a bit wrong Grin
