A new thread for the new year Smile

Will the truth come out about how Roxy and Ronnie died yesterday?
Will the new exec producer lose his obsession with bins?
Has Max really forgiven Jane, Ian and Phil?
What secret does the new 'Chelle have?
Will Johnny Sausage learn to act?
Is Denise going to go through with the adoption?
What's going to happen with Lee?
What are your hopes for EE this year?

Come and discuss here!

When Shazza asked Nuchelle what was wrong and she said "I've got cellulite", I honestly thought that would be the storyline the producers had come up with.

Cue weeks and weeks of Nuchelle scrubbing her thighs with coffee granules and a loofah.

I am overinvested but that age detail struck me as well...I watched Eastenders in the 80s and I'm 45. SHELL IS OLDER THAN ME! Angry

What a weird episode. I actually thought the beginning of Michelle's story was quite well done. Then the 'twist' with the (above consent age) pupil who stood in the rain calling her in the hotel room, it all went a bit bonkers.

Still we know she is here to stay now, and broke. How long before she starts working in the new laundry just as her mum did?

Age annoying me too. I remember distinctively. Michelle and Sharon were equivalent to my sister's age/year at school. They should be 48/49.

Preston howling in the car park. What fantastic imagery is this? I think Nuchelle's escaped from a USian teen drama. She came back to Walford only to discover that no one eats celery with salt anymore. Oh the trauma. This cannot end well. Glad Ethel came home.

It was like a stage play wasn't it An amateur stage play where all the audience are relatives and clap politely with relief when it is over

Michelle should be 48, one year older than Ian.

I didn't watch EE back when old Michelle was in it so I have no idea about the character, although I have seen pictures of her and can see the visual difference. But even so I still find Nuchelle weirdly blank as a character and don't feel she fits in. Her storyline so far has been so dull, i couldn't care less even now they have introduced the backstory to her return. I did think maybe talking about being 45 was her referring to a few years back when marriage problems began etc.

If a man in his mid forties was sleeping with a teenage girl who was 16 and a pupil (she said they'd had a year together) I don't think jokes about cradle snatching would go down that well, but heigh ho.

Love Sharon's 'we were on a break!' moment....I wonder how they are going to find a dramatic way for her to tell Phil. Maybe when she hears about the adoption. Also her confusion that is was physically possible....I did wonder at the time! Still wish it was Kush's, he and Denise would have made a good couple.

Nuchelle's voice is so reedy and whiney.
Trouble online about the swearing etc!
Glad the cat came back.

Nuchelle didn't say she is 45, she was recounting something that happened when she was 45 when Tim stopped having sex with her (or something). I have a "WTF!" moment too but realised what she had said.

I'm rolling my eyes at some of the complaints on twitter about the 'swearing'. I absolutely knew there would be some puffed-up infuriation because "my kids were watching".

So shagging, arse and bloody are offensive, words but discussing and seeing drugs, death, shagging, fighting, drunk driving, arson, theft, baby-snatching, guns, knives, rape, miscarriage, cot death, homophobia, racism, murder-by-ashtray and many more macabre storylines that EE producers have come up with are fine for 'the kids' to watch?
Hmm

Yes, especially as in real life it'd be fakking this and fakking that!

Chelle is definitely not 45. I am 45 and she was at least couple of years older than me in the 80s. Load of bollox! I've got back into watching it, which is annoying me.

last night's episode was indeed poo....have I made it up or was Chelle in california in the US? - I clearly have too much free time, just looked up the age of consent there, it's 18...Doof Doof.

Was far more concerned in that episode as to where Dot's story line is going, I miss Dot's days of going to the Vic and having 'just' a sherry because she doesn't really drink Grin

Florida Buddhas. Probably 18 there too though.

Chelle is meant to be 48/49. She was roughly 15/16 when the soap started in 1984 with Den pregnancy storyline
