I love that horsey might go back and rewatch now which I had no desire to do previously

HermioneWeasley · 02/01/2017 21:22

I liked Mary, but agree it's got too self involved. I prefers it when he was just solving mysteries!

I think they've jumped the shark

HermioneWeasley · 02/01/2017 21:23

I preferred it, not I prefers it. I'm not Golum.

My precioussssssss

CaveMum · 02/01/2017 21:28

Wasn't there some fan speculation after Series 3 about Mrs Holmes? Something to do with a book she was reading or claimed to have written . I think people were claiming she might be the criminal mastermind behind everything.

OP posts:
whyhastherumgone · 02/01/2017 21:32

CaveMum I didn't see the speculation but is that referencing the Maths book that Mary commented on when they were all in the cottage?
Mr Holmes referred to his wife as being a genius...

CaveMum · 02/01/2017 21:40

Yes I think so. Someone said that the title of the book had something to do with Moriarty in the original canon. Of course it could have just been a fan-boy drop in courtesy of Messrs Gatiss and Moffet!

I quite liked it, but I struggled a bit because it's been so long since the last series. I can't be doing with 3 episodes then a year break.

Randomishusername · 03/01/2017 06:04

What exactly did Mary say in her message to Sherlock. I recorded the show but my idiot husband switched off the Sky box a few minutes before the programme had ended. Sad

Nakedavenger74 · 03/01/2017 06:35

She said to do one Last thing for her realising she would be dead. That was to 'save John Watson'. Cut to credits. End of credits she comes back. Not clear if Sherlock has seen it or not. She says 'Go to hell..Sherlock'.

If anyone wants a theory about what that's about that I got from Tumblr then I'm happy to share (I thinks it's probably bollocks) Grin

Gallavich · 03/01/2017 06:49

I'd like the tumblr theory please!

Nakedavenger74 · 03/01/2017 07:20

So we see Mary doing her random roll of the dice travelling around. She hides the Agra memory stick in a place called Norddal in Norway. Someone pointed out that There's a place in Norway nearby called Hell.

It is but I checked and it's 350km away. Nice theory though. Tumblr are wetting their knickers about it though!

Nakedavenger74 · 03/01/2017 07:29

Oh and same people believe it was Sherlock doing the late night not-quite-sexting not the Scottish bus lady. Confused

whyhastherumgone · 03/01/2017 11:34

Hmmmmi don't think it was Sherlock but i don't think it was the bus woman either. I think when he was going to tell Mary something it wasn't going to be what we were expecting if that makes sense?

Breagha85 · 03/01/2017 11:41

Nakedavenger I wonder if there is something in that theory?

I had a quick Google and Norddal appears to be an area, the administrative centre of which is called Valldal - close enough to Valhalla perhaps?

ShadowHarts · 03/01/2017 12:00

I've also read that bus lady is just a red herring. They always do things like this, lead us to believe something that's not true. Could have been his sister Harry even.

I love Tumblr picking apart the clues. But then I've been a Johnlocker from the start Smile

GerardNoWay · 03/01/2017 13:12

Ooh, could wiggy bus lady be Harry?

Could the texts be from Harry?? That's why the texts started so much more personal - 'It's been too long'

Ooooooh.

I need to rewatch! Why do I have to be an adult and have work???

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 03/01/2017 13:41

He did say 'it's been great getting to know you,' afair, but then said 'I'm not free,' which doesn't strike me as something you'd have reason to say to your sister. Can't femember the whole content.

GerardNoWay · 03/01/2017 13:51

Ah, you're right Shotgun.

Damn.

givemushypeasachance · 03/01/2017 14:05

The maths book Mrs Holmes had written pre-children was "The Dynamics of Combustion"; in the original stories Professor Moriarty had written "The Dynamics of an Asteroid". So a nod to that.

On the wiggy mysterious "E" lady - Sian Brooke. She's turning up in a more significant role next week. One of the TV guide mags put out an overly detailed plot summary for The Lying Detective which would tell you the context for the character she plays, don't want to splash spoilers around but the details are in out there on the usual sorts of blogs.

whyhastherumgone · 03/01/2017 14:34

ooh I will have to search that out. Thanks Give

APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/01/2017 15:02

I thought bus lady was maybe offering Watson a different job or a private case. But Watson then decided he wasn't free to take it up.
I was a bit bored by that episode. I'm not a super spy but rather than follow Mary round the world I would have attacked/kidnapped John or the baby and waited for Mary to come to me.
I hope next week's is better ...

givemushypeasachance · 03/01/2017 15:32

I don't understand how the actions this week would tie into the role she's (apparently) playing next week, have to wait and see how that pans out! During the filming process people didn't know who she was, so she got the tag of "Lady in red".

I would still quite like Mycroft to turn out to be involved in things somehow. There's a new promo picture emerged today of Sherlock & Mycroft playing chess while John watches on - with Mycroft in checkmate, Sherlock is upsetting all the pieces. Seems a bit heavily loaded with meanings!

The wait is almost over! Sherlock Series 4!
Davros · 03/01/2017 16:34

Unfortunately I found it tedious. I hate Mary as international spy, ninja woman of mystery. Couldn't give a shit what happens to her but they need to stop focussing just on the three main characters and their interaction. Work on a case ffs and include some of that stuff. It's all too self indulgent, just the way DW has gone Sad

Finewineandcake · 03/01/2017 16:42

Ginger Wig Bus Stalker Dangerous Liaison Sexter is wearing a necklace which looks to me like a gold Rose - reference to Rosamund the baby or Rosamund Mary?

YorkiesGlasses · 03/01/2017 16:44

He did say 'it's been great getting to know you,' afair, but then said 'I'm not free,' which doesn't strike me as something you'd have reason to say to your sister. Can't femember the whole content.

But that was in the day, not the same conversation. He could have been texting Harry at night, bus girl the next day.
