placemarking

reader77 · 09/01/2017 07:09

That acronym misses out John though.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 09/01/2017 07:34

DS shared theory- when Sherlock said (about the hidden listening devices)

"three...why does everyone stop counting at three"

that that is a flag that there is a fourth Holmes sibling....
Sherrinford and Euros?

Miss me is Moriarty.
Is it me or are there a LOT of loose ends to tie up in what is apparently the last ever next week.

Purplepicnic · 09/01/2017 10:28

None of you have mentioned Mycroft's potential little romance! Made me smile.

Along with Mrs H's car, the hat references and the hug.

Purplepicnic · 09/01/2017 10:30

The one thing I don't get is, how did Mary's video which was genuine, end up with the evil sister who had put 'Miss me?' on it?

She never had it, Mary sent it to Sherlock in an envelope and put Miss Me? on it to get his attention. She says that at the beginning of the recording (last week).

Ciutadella · 09/01/2017 11:02

But if Watson hadn't found the video, he wouldn't have realised he needed to get to the hospital and rescue Sherlock? Quite a risky plan when someone's trying to suffocate you!

Euros says a mutual friend put her in touch with Culverton. Now who might that be?

Not sure what the point of the 'miss me' in the note was - if Sherlock had found it, how would that have changed things?

LoveforPGTipsMonkey · 09/01/2017 13:15

Purple - thanks! I thought that during the last ep, that she just wanted to get his attention, but have missed her actually saying it and after yesterdays. thought it was to do with the sister. Even thought- to trap him and Watson into a dangerous situation.

I was quite annoyed though by this 'saving John' - from what? Did she mean from him not coping with her death? He doesn't need saving otherwise, he wasn't in danger or on drugs unlike Holmes. And is generally sensible.

Mary's ghost was there FAR too much - yes it had its place, but her also being there when Watson was talking to Holmes, and generally her talking far too much and even joking got on my nerves.

Ignore my other question - that was silly (posting half asleep), I realised after posting that of course the memory drug was a fib.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 09/01/2017 13:19

You've got out of a car on the left, your paper smells of cumin and paprika, you have unseen scars on your arm.... but no 'OH AND ALSO YOU'RE WEARING A WIG AND YOU'RE MY SISTER!'

I know he's not supposed to know what she looks like, but if you can infer the size, use, and orientation of a frigging kitchen, you should be able to spot something's up with weird long red dress chip woman surely?

80sWaistcoat · 09/01/2017 13:21

I think there's a brother (or another sister?) Sherrinford and Euros the sister.

The whole thing was v contrived but rather well done. And I love the fact the absence of the baby was just dismissed with a 'she's at some friends'.

I think that Sherlock was just expecting the baddie to kill him by increasing the drip - which was harmless - but wasn't expecting to be strangled, or shot, or knifed or anything else that could actually or did happen.

I said it up thread - but enjoyed it so much more than last week. Rather worrying that it's 3 years since the last proper series....I haven't done much with my life since then!

HeyRoly · 09/01/2017 13:49

Mary's ghost was there FAR too much - yes it had its place, but her also being there when Watson was talking to Holmes, and generally her talking far too much and even joking got on my nerves.

But it wasn't "Mary's ghost" though, it was John's conscience arguing with himself using Mary's voice. If it had been a version of Mary scolding John and egging him on to ask questions to Mycroft and criticising the words he chose to use with Sherlock, that would have been irritating. But it was all coming from John, realising that his words and behaviour were inadequate and trying to summon up the courage to say the things he really wanted to say.

Clawdy · 09/01/2017 14:04

So there is only one more episode?

CremeEggThief · 09/01/2017 14:44

Yes, of series 4 anyway. Who knows after that!

HeyRoly · 09/01/2017 16:25

It feels like the next episode is the last. I mean, I can't think of any other reason why they'd call it The Final Problem. It's the first time they've used an ACD title and not changed anything about it.

HeyRoly · 09/01/2017 16:27

The last ever, I mean. And I meant to add I'm gutted about that, but equally I've seen too many series go on too long and end up shit, so I'm happy for Sherlock to end on a high.

Bettersleepoutdoors · 09/01/2017 16:48

Btw. Dishevelled, off his tits Sherlock is super hot. Blush

Lorelei76 · 09/01/2017 19:26

Now I'm bugged by Irene Adler as an acronym?

Clawdy · 09/01/2017 19:31

Irene is in the original books though, and not an acronym as far as I remember.

NotYoda · 09/01/2017 19:41

Una Stubbs has been bloody great throughout all series of Sherlock. She deserves an award (if she hasn't had one already)

Lorelei76 · 09/01/2017 19:58

I know Irene is in the original books
Maybe I'm missing the point but I thought the Twitter people were doing acronyms for fun and I can't figure out what it could be.

LineyReborn · 09/01/2017 22:15

Not anagram, acronym. You look down the list's first letters. MISS ME.

Lorelei76 · 09/01/2017 22:37

Sorry Liney I cpuldnt see the pic on my phone so thought it was a game of acronyms using the names. Didn't realise it was Miss Me.

I don't think anyone mentioned anagrams but I am confused enough....another poster says the drug wasn't real?

Mary got on my nerves too, they packed way too much in and that was something that could have gone and made it flow better.

ethelb · 09/01/2017 22:47

Has anyone else noticed the nurse in the hospital is also one of the women who went to Sherlock looking for the Mayfly man, in the Rule of Three.

LineyReborn · 09/01/2017 22:59

Lorelei, I haven't got a clue either so maybe we should just go with the flow ... Grin

verytiredmummy1 · 09/01/2017 23:04

yorkies would you kind sending me the theory from Reddit? I can't find it and against my better judgement I really want to know!!
