Will Gloti get a historic 120 points, will 3x bridesmaid Kev finally make it up the aisle, or will sis Jwan steal the glitterball and if so, do we have enough Kleenex for Ore?! It's #SCD10 FINAL 2016

In preparation for tonight. So who are you rooting for? Danny, Louise or Ore?
My preference would be:
Danny
Ore
Louise
But I really don't mind who wins and quite like the idea of Ore taking the trophy.

I think it must show how little I know about dancing that I far preferred Danny and Oti's Samba to that Blush

Charley50 · 18/12/2016 14:58

No one choreographs in a vacuum.

CaveMum · 18/12/2016 15:23

I get that TheOnlyLivingBoy, it's probably because Oti and Danny's is more "showy" and not what you would see in a proper competition, unless it was an exhibition class.

All the dances you see on Strictly are jazzed up "cabaret" versions of the syllabus dances - you'd never be taught to dance a Samba like that in a dance class!

A strict "on syllabus" Samba that you'd expect to learn in a class (advanced level) and see on a competition floor would look more like this (Karina in this video is one of the Pros on DWTS):

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 18/12/2016 15:55

Ok, that makes sense about the jazzed up versions of the dances. I don't think I've ever really seen anything other than Strictly, so I guess I've become accustomed to everything being more glittery and dramatic and OTT.

CaveMum · 18/12/2016 16:14

Get thee to YouTube! Look up more of Joanna Leunis and other dancers like Christopher Hawkins (Ballroom Master!) and Yulia Zagoruychenko.

There are some good Channels to subscribe to too like "DSI London" and "DCL & DCL AL".

chicaguapa · 18/12/2016 17:04

Just back from a weekend away and I have just re-watched all of Danny's dances from the series (DH is very patient!).

I don't mind that he didn't win the glitter ball. He was my winner and he made the whole series for me.

I need tickets for the tour now.

morningtoncrescent62 · 18/12/2016 17:05

Just caught up! I thought it was one of the best finals of recent years. I enjoyed all of the showdances (including Louise's) though I thought Danny and Oti's was in a different league to the other two. Same with their final dance.

Watching Ore and Joanne's Singin in the Rain routine reminded me that was the week I went off them - it was their first sob-fest for no apparent reason. Anyone else surprised by the age of Gene Kelly's widow? I looked her up online, and her exact date of birth isn't known (probably because of Things Being Said about the age gap) but recokened to be 1958-59. So an age gap of 46-47 years.

I was kind of resigned to Ore and Joanne winning after the judges' comments and marking. I wasn't too bothered, really, because I didn't have anyone I was positively rooting for - I didn't want Ore to win because of the crying which has been embarrassing and over the top, with even Claudia clearly having had enough of it. I would rather the glitterball had been won by someone who had sufficient grace and maturity to be able to put aside their mega-emotions (it's only a contest, after all) and look pleased and focus on the audience. Ore and Joanne were simply childish and selfish IMO. Still, I couldn't make myself care that much.

I loved the cast of 2016 dance - and I do wish Lesley Joseph had been able to stay for longer.

I reckon they'll announce the new head judge a couple of weeks before the 2017 season kicks off, to start building for it. Bring back Arlene! She would be fantastic.

MerryMarigold · 18/12/2016 17:17

Just caught up too.

Came on here to see any gossip on the end of Danny and Oti's showdance. You have to watch it backs. She seriously nearly snogged him on the lips and he had to push her away. It was intense! I've thought there was stuff going on with him the whole time, but then saw she was married...and he lives with his fiancé. Will be highly surprised though if something doesn't come out later. Love Oti, she is class and I wanted her to win. Kevin's a bit vacuous. Jo seems a bit up her own.

Theromanempire · 18/12/2016 17:32

merry yes, there was some serious eye contact going on at the end. I noticed the way he looked at her during their tango (the musicals week one) - sparks flying everywhere Grin feel a bit sorry for his fiancee if the rumours about Natalie and Ricky W are true- could be a case of lightning striking twice!

CeeBeeBee · 18/12/2016 17:49

Merry, I agree about the way Oti looked as if she was about to kiss Danny and he politely removing her hand.

It's a real shame about their first dance but the show dance and samba made up for it.

I was undecided between Ore and Danny but in the end, Ore was better on the night. I am pleased he won and I think he deserves to but I feel bereft for Danny.

rollonthesummer · 18/12/2016 17:57

Merry, I agree about the way Oti looked as if she was about to kiss Danny and he politely removing her hand.

Yes-we said this! She was a bit all over him when they were taking to Claudia afterwards and he looked like he was trying to hold her at arms length!

MerryMarigold · 18/12/2016 18:12

I reckon he's trying to distance himself but all the stuff about 'she's helped my find myself' SO smacks of an affair.

I thought he actually pushed her. And she was snuggled into his neck at one point. Looked very 'natural. Hmmmmmm

sheldonesque · 18/12/2016 18:48

I thought he pushed her too... I caught a hint of irritation.

I mentioned the nuzzling many threads ago. After what happened with Ricky you'd think it could have been avoided so as not to cause his fiancée any angst.

I get that she's married and closeness is inevitable and innocent, but last night went that wee bit too far and into uncomfortable territory..

CondensedMilkSarnies · 18/12/2016 18:58

I did a sharp intake of breath too , it really looked awkward . I'm glad he pushed her away .

raisedbyguineapigs · 18/12/2016 19:12

I'm watching this now as I was out last night. Yes, I saw what looked like a kiss! She was deffo a bit too close to him! I thought they were best though. That showdance was great to watch. But I'm fine with Ore winning too.

Runny · 18/12/2016 19:27

I've been on affair watch with Danny and Oti for weeks.

228agreenend · 18/12/2016 19:36

Morning - I was surprised how young Gene Kelly's widow was as well. The googling imdid discovered that she met him in her 20s, whilst doing some work for him and married him when she was 31. He was 77.

I didn't think Ore was fake at all, but just an emotional guy.

oit was superb throughout the series, probably, the best pro, this year. I watched her as Much as Danny.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 18/12/2016 19:46

Maybe Ore is so emotional because he didn't expect to do so well and is thrilled/amazed at what he's achieved . Whereas , Danny knows he's good IYSWIM.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 18/12/2016 19:47

I just don't get the love for Oti , I can't put my finger on why though.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 18/12/2016 19:55

I thought Oti was lovely.

Other dancers are touchy feely too. Natalie is worse.

MerryMarigold · 18/12/2016 19:58

I know this probably sounds deeply intellectually snobby, but I just feel like Oti has more substance/ intelligence. She also has amazing legs and boobs.

Runny, what did affair watch throw up for you?

MerryMarigold · 18/12/2016 19:59

I caught a hint of irritation.

I thought it was more like, "Don't give it all away, love. This is a PUBLIC arena."

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 18/12/2016 20:05

Oti is married to her Let's Dance partner and professional dance partner Marius. Has been for four years. Seem very happy.

Fiderer · 18/12/2016 22:55

I bloody missed it as was on an important mission regarding international relations.

Was being taught the rumba by a Cuban musician. I think I was Fab-ul-OUS and think CaveMum would applaud my efforts.

Came home and put the news on, saw the winner on the ticker, which annoyed me at first but now means I can catch up knowing that Oti and Louise didn't win.

bonfireheart · 18/12/2016 23:20

Am sure Oti has an engineering degree and a science background. Brains, beauty and personality. If I was Danny I would have fallen in love with her ages ago!
