After watching worst tv of the 90's on five I was having a quick google of worse tv ever and one show universally panned was one I loved- called 'out of this world' 80's sitcom about a girl whose half alien and another one me and my sister remember but no one else about a ghost haunting a family that had moved into her house after she'd choked on a chicken bone.
What ransoms do you remember?

Gosh yes, 'Agony'. I think Anna Raeburn was involved somehow or other as a script consultant, wasn't she? And Lynsey de Paul sang the feem toon in a very, very high voice

ShangriLaLaLa · 03/12/2016 23:09

The Owl Service. Gave me the shivers and I can't remember why.

And Gems. Rubbishy ITV daytime soap. I remember bunking off school regularly just to watch it. Explains a lot.

Namechangingbastard · 03/12/2016 23:20

Out of this world was my favourite, I'd forgotten all about it! The theme tune was would you like to swing on a star carry moonbeams home in a jar.
My ringtone is theme from around the world with willy fogg

MagicalMrsMistoffelees · 03/12/2016 23:30

Dark Towers (think shown within Look and Read? Theme tune sung by Derek Griffiths?!)

Aliens in the Family. BBC. Baddies were the wyrdigans? I still use 'wyrdigan' as an insult!

Growing Rich. Circa 1991 on ITV, Fridays, 9pm. Starred Martin Kemp. Would love that yo come out on DVD.

The Adventure Game with the gronder gronder plant

Red Hand Gang

Dungeons and Dragons (had a crush on grumpy Eric)

Programme about a boy who turned yellow?!

And I totally remember the Little Bits! Don't know where I'd have been on a Saturday morning without it! I even vaguely recall the theme-song Wink

I loved Tales of the Unexpected and Last Day of the Triffids (I think it was called)

Jellybean83 · 04/12/2016 01:01

Oh I love this, so many great TV shows I'd forgotten about.

The Tribe, Heartbreak High, Wishbone (the talking dog), Secret world of Alex Mack, Clarissa explains it all, Round the Twist.

Saturday morning Tv isn't the same anymore, cooking shows seem to own Saturday mornings nowadays.

Bob and Margaret
Stressed Eric
Round the Bend
Some thing with Rebekah Elmaloglou with the name Kefalonia in the title I think
Jimbo

SapphireStrange · 04/12/2016 13:41

Yes, I loved Party of Five!

And Round the Twist, and Heartbreak High. Didn't they all live in a flat that you had to get into by climbing up a ladder or something?

I'd love to see So Haunt Me. I'm assuming it was a Jewish ghost and there was lots of Jewish humour?

Also, Channel 4 once ran a dramatisation of the whole of the Mahabharata. It was on every Sunday (I think) morning for what seemed like about fifteen years. Grin Gods used to appear in trees and things via the medium of extremely ropey special effects.

Mistoffelees · 04/12/2016 13:49

I loved Rex the Runt, theyrenon YouTube I believe. Did anyone else watch God, the Devil and Bob?

allegretto · 04/12/2016 13:58

Does anybody remember Monkey early 80s Japanese programme

Yes, also The Water Margin - very similar. I thought they were the same programme but Google tells me they weren't.

MrsJayy · 04/12/2016 14:07

Thanks for remembering monkey it was absolutley bonkers

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 04/12/2016 14:14

I used to watch Monkey. Did the theme tune go 'Monkey Magic' or was that a different one?

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 04/12/2016 14:15

I used to love the book of it too. Used to get it from the library all the time!

duskonthelawn · 04/12/2016 14:19

Not read all the thread as about to go out but have we had the Spooks of Bottle Bay yet?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 04/12/2016 14:19

Slightly odd, dubbed tv from late 70s/early 80s.

It was set in some middle European country in the nineteenth century. One half of the river was a rural utopia, the other side an industrialised dystopia, with a super-weapon. I remember one scene where the weapon is accidentally discharged. I have no idea what it was, and no-one else seems to have a clue what I'm talking about. Any help?

Oh, and Ulysses 31 - Ulysses set in the thirty-first century. Cult viewing at my school.

Whattheduck · 04/12/2016 14:22
