After watching worst tv of the 90's on five I was having a quick google of worse tv ever and one show universally panned was one I loved- called 'out of this world' 80's sitcom about a girl whose half alien and another one me and my sister remember but no one else about a ghost haunting a family that had moved into her house after she'd choked on a chicken bone.
What ransoms do you remember?

No-one ever remembers Graham's gang

Also Scully and Murphy's mob. I loved these

paddypants13 · 04/12/2016 18:28

Anyone remember Heartbreak High? Aussie teen drama set in a high school. Loved that show!

Also The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard with Jane Horrocks, 2.4 children, Common as Muck, Outside Edge, A bit of a do or Roger, Roger?

I may be getting a little overexcited at the memories of all these great tv shows.

I loved The Brittas Empire and So Haunt me

Big John, little John - wow that's a blast from the past. I can still vaguely remeber the theme tune.

2:4 Children - used to enjoy this sitcom.

The Owl service - was that a kids programme which was quite dark?

228agreenend · 04/12/2016 19:28

Swish of the curtain - about a group of children who discovered a stage and used to out on shows. Sarah Greene starred in it who, later became a Blue Peter presenter.

Remember Fantastic Journey with Roddie McDowell. The only episode that I really remember is of a young couple they visited were really old and were kept alive by some crystal thing

Only a few posts into page 3 and I remember:

Life Without George - LOVED this. Ben, Larry's estate agent partner was my crush of the 80s.

The Denis Waterman thing = On The Up. Remember it well, the housekeeper was played by lovely Joan Sims.

Sitting Pretty - yes, I remember this!

Ditto That's My Boy. Managed to get hold of a DVD of it a few years ago....oh dear!

Now for one of my own before I RT rest of the FT: The River, starting David Essex. I have this on DVD.

I'm the queen of obscure 80s sitcom.

Vids on late at night on Channel 4, late 90s.

I have fond memories of a program called 'How to Be Cool'. No one ever remembers it but it was real.

wowwee123 · 04/12/2016 19:48

I think it was called 'so haunt me'.

It must have been late 80s early 90s and was funny from what i remember but id have been about 8 / 9 at the oldest.

Still remember it being a favourite at the time though.

Ooh I have more:

Me & My Girl with Richard O'Sullivan and Tim Brooke-Taylor. They ran an ad agency called Eyecatchers. T B-T stole the show every week.

Robin of Sherwood. Ok I'm cheating here, I have the box set and my one time DP starred in it (he was older than me).

Joint Account with Hannah Gordon and Peter Egan. Twas ok.

There was another sitcom based in an ad agency which my brain is certain was called something like The Cabbage Patch. But I can find no reference of it anywhere.

That's Love with Jimmy Mulville and Neil Pearson (swoon)

confusedandemployed · 04/12/2016 19:51

And Chelmsford 123 with Rory McGrath, Jimmy Mulville and Neil Pearson plus Howard Lee Lewis. I love Chelmsford 123.

confusedandemployed · 04/12/2016 19:51

Lew Lewis

CountdownConundrum · 04/12/2016 19:53

Sunburn with Michelle Collins
Playing the Field
The Young Person's Guide To Becoming A Tock Star
Twenty Things To Do Before You're 30

CountdownConundrum · 04/12/2016 19:54

Rock Star I mean

Autumnchill · 04/12/2016 19:55

Favourite kids show was The Queens Nose and as an adult does anyone remember Murder One?

confusedandemployed · 04/12/2016 19:55

Kit Curran's Radio Show with Denis Lawson.

Jossy's Giants

Shitonyoursofa · 04/12/2016 19:58

Maelstrom...I think it must have been in the 80s, I have a vague recollection it was an adult programme and I wasn't supposed to watch it. Loads of spooky dolls in a room.

Eerie Indiana
Tales of the Golden Monkey
Manimal

pklme · 04/12/2016 20:03

By the sword divided. Anyone else?

NannyR · 04/12/2016 20:07

My mum used to love watching the Australian soaps (before neighbours and home and away came along), Sons and Daughters, The Sullivan's and The Young Doctors - I've just been listening to the theme tunes on YouTube and been taken right back to the early eighties!

formerbabe · 04/12/2016 20:09

Does anyone remember "wise up"?!

Pootle40 · 04/12/2016 20:18

No place like home with Martin Clunes as one of the sons. Loved Life Without George too. My oldest memory of a tv show that stayed with me was The Adventure Gane where they had to avoid the vortex at the end-bit like an earlier Crystal Maze.

MichaelBuble · 04/12/2016 20:23

Really enjoying this thread. Pugwall was only on in school holidays I think! And Growing Rich was AMAZING. I was only about 12 when it came out but loved it. Read the book after too (Fay Weldon I think)
80s comedy-wise May to December I loved!!
