Spin away oh sequined ones...

OP posts:

When Darcey said that, I wanted to shout "so stop giving them shitty teenage costumes and music!"

But they didn't have shitty teenage costumes with the AT and there was still zero chemistry. To be fair to Louise and Kevin, they do seem at least to try to demonstrate chemistry and their waltz was romantic.

dontcallmelen · 28/11/2016 15:19

I really really hope the cliftons get a couple of complete duffers next year.
Would make a nice change & interesting to see if they could make dancers of them, like Katya did with Ed.

areyoubeingserviced · 28/11/2016 15:40

Runny- I don't like Giovanni either. He is a bit of a creep. A poundland version of the lovely Vincent Simone.
I really don't care who wins to be honest.
Louise- obviously a lovely lady but dull.
Ore- i find him highly irritating
Judge- ok
Danny aka Ringer- Not fond of him, but like Oti
Claudia- nice, but not very interesting , but i loved her AT.
Enjoyed watching ED,

WouldHave · 28/11/2016 15:40

To be fair, Joanne Clifton has never danced previously on Strictly with anyone but a duffer. And no-one could conceivably have made Scott Mills into a dancer.

CaveMum · 28/11/2016 15:56

Is there word yet on whether Will Young is coming back for the big group dance in the Final? It was interesting to hear Darcey more or less confirm that he pulled out because he underestimated how hard it would be.

PonderingProsecco · 28/11/2016 16:08

Ahh just watched Ed again on Gangnam Style..
He will be missed...
Sheer joy to watch.
What would he and Katya made of a Rumba I wonder?!

dontcallmelen · 28/11/2016 16:09

Would I stand corrected you are right forgot about Scott Mills, she still annoys me though 😃

SapphireStrange · 28/11/2016 16:12

it was interesting to hear Darcey more or less confirm that he pulled out because he underestimated how hard it would be.

Did she? When? I've totally missed that. What did she say? Odd – he seemed to be going for it with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

CaveMum · 28/11/2016 16:27

When she was on Chris Evans Show last week she pretty much said "It's a lot of work and Will underestimated how hard it would be."

I'll see if I can find a link. Len is on the show this Friday.

MoonriseKingdom · 28/11/2016 16:36

I can only think he'd not watched much of it before agreeing to take part. Apart from the huge task of learning a new type of dance each week there must be costume fittings, filming the VTs, ITT, publicity. Also the Saturday show must be exhausting. I don't know how people like Kellie Bright with actual day jobs manage it.

SapphireStrange · 28/11/2016 16:37

Thanks CaveMum. A bit indiscreet of her, no?

CaveMum · 28/11/2016 16:45

Link to Darcey talking about the Head Judge issue. Don't think they've put up a link to the rest of her chat: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04hvk5z?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign+=the_chris_evans_breakfast_show&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=radio_and_music

CaveMum · 28/11/2016 16:50

I took it to mean that Will thought he would find it easy, having a musical/stage background. Some people pick it up pretty easily, others will struggle, there's just no way of knowing until you try it. Each dance has its only peculiaralities so you find that what you learn in one dance is totally irrelevant to the next one you do.

There are similarities and of course learning technique becomes easier but it is hard physical work.

MoonriseKingdom · 28/11/2016 17:07

I see what you mean Cavemum. Even for someone like Danny Mac with all his previous experience it must be very hard learning a completely new dance type each week. One week heel leads are all the rage, the next week they are verboten. Grin

If you are good the pressure is in to have more complex choreography and more precise technique.

MoonriseKingdom · 28/11/2016 17:10

I think it was a shame though as he did some interesting dances with Karen and I think he could have still been in it. Maybe he was worried about being outshone by Danny and Ore. In some other years he would have been the standout male contestant.

SapphireStrange · 28/11/2016 17:12

I think it's a shame too. Apart from his appalling choices in training apparel, I was liking him. And I love and miss Karen too.

Horsemad · 28/11/2016 17:42

Soup, I do believe there's a video on 'tinternet from a couple of years ago of Ed Balls doing Gangnam at a Labour Party Annual Conference or something.

SoupDragon · 28/11/2016 18:56

Yes, there is :)

RTKangaMummy · 28/11/2016 19:12

He just did it again on ITT SmileSmileSmile

CaveMum · 28/11/2016 19:37

Love that Erin and Matt came back!

ppeatfruit · 29/11/2016 08:29

Yes cavemum I heard Darcey say that about Will too. Does he forfeit his payment? Chris Evans also said he likes to read a lot!

DiegeticMuch · 29/11/2016 09:14

Katya has come out of this series extremely well. Lovely woman, hard worker, great choreography for her particular partner.

Ed could make a fortune on the tv circuit. He'd be mad to return to front line politics. He's a good example of someone who's bounced back from an enormous setback and I hope he's given viewers who've recently had bad luck professionally, confidence that things could get better - "if life throws lemons at you" etc etc.

areyoubeingserviced · 29/11/2016 12:00

Totally agree Diegetic.
Ed must have been devastated when he lost his seat. But look at him now. Signing up to Stictly has given him a new lease of life.

RTKangaMummy · 29/11/2016 13:24

Ed is going to be on ITV LOOSE WOMEN tomorrow lunchtime

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 29/11/2016 15:16

Monkseal's recap is up - loved it as usual. Wacth out for his riff on Tyra Banks... Grin
