OP posts:
2kids2dogsnosense · 28/11/2016 09:15

Oh Lordy!

Already I am missing Ed!

SittingDrinkingTea · 28/11/2016 09:19

I feel like it was Ed's time to go, he was by far the weakest dancer left. However for a tubby, middle aged man with no dance or even showbiz background he did extremely well.

I think a lot of the credit for that needs to go to Katya, rather than taking the safe route of just shimmying around a non dancer while they wiggle on the spot that so many pros do, she made him actually dance and learn choreography. Her efforts paid off and have made this year's competition all the better to watch.

raisedbyguineapigs · 28/11/2016 09:23

strictly I was thinking the same thing Grin Or he could have been sacked as Shadow Chancellor, moaning away on the backbenches! Who would have thought 2 years ago that Ed Balls would have got a standing ovation and been held aloft on National Telly!!

MrsJayy · 28/11/2016 09:23

Yes Katya made him dance she taught him steps and how to perform good for her.

SoupDragon · 28/11/2016 09:27

He may have been the weakest dancer left but by god he was the most entertaining and the one who I think put the most in. Katya choreographed for him brilliantly.

When he was voted off, he still looked happy to be there.

I had him down for First to Leave at the start.

MrsJayy · 28/11/2016 09:44

I was cringing at him to start with but then embraced him.

raisedbyguineapigs · 28/11/2016 09:45

Agree. Many of the professionals, Natalie, for example, when they have a weak partner just dance around them and use distraction techniques. She actually taught Ed to dance, and he put the hours in. He was definitely entertaining!

MrsJayy · 28/11/2016 09:50

If Natalie was going to distract from Greg her dress was always shorter and there was fringing Grin

SoupDragon · 28/11/2016 09:58

I would like to know whose mind put together Ed, Gangnam Style and Salsa and thought "that's a great idea!" :)

WouldHave · 28/11/2016 10:02

To be fair, there are some bad dancers who just refuse to put the work in, so there's not much the pros can do except dance round them. Ann Widdecombe and Nancy Del'Ollio, for instance.

WouldHave · 28/11/2016 10:03

MrsJayy, you've reminded me - we always knew when Ola thought her partner was in trouble because the body stocking came out Grin

MrsJayy · 28/11/2016 10:08

Oh yeah i miss ola and her bits of costume

StrictlyPan · 28/11/2016 10:29

to be fair to the sex kitten she's doing pretty well in the jungle, I'm told. Getting on with the trails and facing fears.
Expect there will be jungle shower shots too, against her will.........

MrsJayy · 28/11/2016 10:31

She is doing great in the jungle i thought she would be a bit divay but she is lovely

Theromanempire · 28/11/2016 10:34

I think Katya deserves a proper ringer next year - she did amazing and has definitely earnt her stripes unlike KFG

TimTamTerrier · 28/11/2016 11:14

Yes, Katya definitely deserves a good one next year, and I think Giovanni should have a difficult/bad partner to teach him a little humility. I hope that Gorka, Oksana, Katya and Neil are all back next year and that Neil has a partner. I don't think that I would miss them much if AJ and Giovanni didn't come back.

SapphireStrange · 28/11/2016 11:16

Claudia asked why Claudia hadn't had a ten
Darcey said its because there's no chemistry with her and AJ

Bit of a bullshit answer imo as Kevin and Louise don't really have any chemistry between them

Couldn't agree more. Total fix. Louise wasn't that good in the cha-cha and, to be fair to her, looked astonished to have won.

She is insipid insipid insipid. Kevin gets right on my tits too with his fist-pumps and roaring when they go through. He could learn to be a bit more gracious.

Danny is a ringer, although Oti is FIERCE.

Rinder is so sincere it makes me come out in hives.

Ore needs to stop crying and hugging Joanne and man up.

Claudia is dull and AJ's face gives me the creeps.

I want Ed back! His speech was so true and gracious and grateful. I adored him and Katya. I love how she actually insisted on dance content rather than just giving him comedy stuff, even though the producers clearly made him into the comedy turn.

SoupDragon · 28/11/2016 11:22

When Darcey said that, I wanted to shout "so stop giving them shitty teenage costumes and music!"

awaynboilyurheid · 28/11/2016 11:37

yes that was a very lame excuse by Darcy

MrsJamin · 28/11/2016 12:44

Katya was brilliant at teaching Ed, I hope she stays as she deserves to. Can you imagine the catsbum face aliona would have done if she'd had ed to dance with? Katya rose to the challenge with a genuine smile on her face. Bravo to her!

StrictlyPan · 28/11/2016 12:49

A. would have approached the situation with her usual good grace and managed the situation with aplomb.

TimTamTerrier · 28/11/2016 13:16

It's sweet that you can't see any flaws in Aliona Pan, but she would definitely have left Ed standing still while she gyrated around him, and also been quite moody about having a bad partner.

CaveMum · 28/11/2016 13:23

Nope Aliona would have "injured" herself, as happened in a previous series Wink

Runny · 28/11/2016 14:43

I've taken a bit of a dislike to Giovanni as well. Very arrogant and smarmy and not as attractive as he thinks he is, he defintely wanted to have a showmance with Laura to cement his reputation as the show 'lothario' too bad she didn't want to go there!

What a douche.

ppeatfruit · 28/11/2016 14:52

Sittingdrinking yes but Ed actually WANTED to learn to dance. I had to laugh when Ann Widd. said on the news that she and Ed were popular because they were entertaining ( she wasn't Hmm )
