Spin away oh sequined ones...

OP posts:
MrsJamin · 27/11/2016 21:15

Couldn't stand k and k's dance, it was too frantic.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2016 21:18

I want to be entertained and this year, it seems Ed was the one who entertained me. It's not usually one of the "duffers" but this year was different. I was surprised at how much I loved him!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 27/11/2016 21:21

Kevin and Karen's dance was a holy mess. It looked as though the producers went "Shit - we totally forgot to choreograph a dance for Ellie Goulding! Cliftons - get on that dance floor and do - something!" I've never seen a dance that screamed "Making it up as we go along" more. They actually just disappeared completely a couple of times...

CaptainBrickbeard · 27/11/2016 21:22

He was much better than a usual duffer; he did some proper dancing. I really enjoyed some of his dances, I just felt he'd given us all he was going to give now.

Polyethyl · 27/11/2016 21:31

What would the judges have done if Rinder had completely messed up the dance off. If he'd dropped Oksana, tripped over his feet and missed the beat. If nerves had got to Rinder would the judges have gritted their teeth and voted for Ed?

In strictly history has a dance off contestant ever gone to pieces under the pressure?

ilovesooty · 27/11/2016 21:33

I reckon they'd have voted Ed off no matter what.

WouldHave · 27/11/2016 21:39

I don't recall a dance-off contestant doing anything awful, but there was that time when Matt di Angelo forgot his steps and just sat down. IIRC some of the judges still gave him 8s, which was extraordinary.

MargotLovedTom · 27/11/2016 21:41

I was slightly agog at Kevin and Karen's dance - I find her to be a rather ungainly dancer for a professional (obviously I am grace personified Wink) and I don't like the barefoot thing.

Sad to see Ed go. I'm not a fan of Rinder at all, Louise is massively benefitting from judge bias, Ore does nowt for me, like Claudia, and the more people slag off Danny, the more I get behind him.

2kids2dogsnosense · 27/11/2016 21:43

I agree with Sooty

The judges were going to get rid of Ed come Hell or High Water.

I suppose voting him off is preferable to a hired assassin with a long-range rifle on the top of the Blackpool Tower . . .

MyWineTime · 27/11/2016 21:44

Definitely time for Ed to go, but I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him every week.
He's been funny, entertaining, charming and such a great example of how to approach anything. Really impressed with him.

FlowerFairiee · 27/11/2016 21:44

What on earth was Kevin doing with his feet at the end of his dance with Karen?

MargotLovedTom · 27/11/2016 21:45

Remember the time Scott Maslen lost the plot and Natalie was basically dragging him round by the neck? Don't think it was a dance off but it was definitely when he was practically on the verge of a nervous breakdown with exhaustion.

QueenMortificado · 27/11/2016 21:47

Flower I was wondering that too, it looked like when you put your hands on your knees in an 80s dance move thing

CaveMum · 27/11/2016 21:48

Young Matt Whathisface, danced with/had a fling with Flavia, did something similar. Just forgot his routine and went to sit on the steps!

JennyHolzersGhost · 27/11/2016 21:50

The K&K dance puzzled me. I was onboard with the early parts (liked the barefoot idea, the passionate flinging-around seemed more like a climax than an intro but I was waiting to see where they took it) but then they disappeared from the floor for what felt like a very long time. 'Did she get something in her foot or was there some kind of flinging-strain injury?' I was wondering, thinking 'oh dear how awkward for poor Ellie, she seems to be styling it out though, good for her and her strangely tufty feet'.
And then the Cliftons appeared again and did some more flinging around. Baffling.

FlowerFairiee · 27/11/2016 21:51

Queen you've made me laugh! That's just what it was like though! Grin

QueenMortificado · 27/11/2016 21:52

The pros always do a bit of dance and then they leave so the focus goes back on the guest singer then they come back again

FlowerFairiee · 27/11/2016 21:54

I thought maybe they'd left part way through to choreograph the second half of the dance Wink

QueenMortificado · 27/11/2016 21:55

Do you reckon they made it up themselves? I can imagine them arsing around in their kitchen and then saying "yep, we will perform this!"

Liiinoo · 27/11/2016 21:56

I think Louise is consistently over marked because she will be appearing on the Strictly tour so 'they' want her to get into the final.

BalloonSlayer · 28/11/2016 07:10

It was time for Ed to go, sadly!

I think that any of the five left could go on to win it, so if any of them went out instead of him it really would not be fair.

Incidentally I looked at an article about Strictly on the BBC website last night (after the show) which had been posted mid-afternoon. It had quotes by, and pictures of, everyone but Ed. I am glad I didn't look at it earlier in the day as it was a definite spoiler.

SoupDragon · 28/11/2016 07:19

Judge Rinder couldn't.

StrictlyPan · 28/11/2016 08:04

Highly amused at the thought of Phil 'spreadsheet' Hammond as current Chancellor losing sleep over a stalling economy, anticipating inflation, a rise in world energy prices, the Tory right looking for a hard Brexit, a legal challenge on the procedure for ratifying Brexit.....
........and Ed having a whale of a time, learning new skills, making new buddies and having been able to dance with the beautiful Katya for the past weeks.
Funny how things turn out. Grin

MrsJayy · 28/11/2016 08:46

Aww shame Ed went but it was his time to go Katya seemed genuinely lovely and i will miss them, I ff ellie goulding so didnt see the barefoot dance

ppeatfruit · 28/11/2016 09:10

Funny I'm reading this and on the news, R2, it said that Dave Cameron and Vince Cable BOTH thought EB was brilliant and will miss him. Me too I didn't expect to either!

I quite liked the barefoot dance (i love bare feet dancing, but I used to do modern barefoot ballet!) Makes your feet dirty though Grin It looked like they were improvising.

Ellie was good singer but I HATED the song and her fish pout. Yuck so fake.
