As part 3 is full.

I'm having a day off due to illness, so am planning a re-watch from the beginning as have got used to the time switches that confused me at first. Quite looking forward to it - will pay extra attention to all things yellow, legs in fireplaces and anything else that you suggest. Probably cover my eyes at the drilla moment again though!

Anyone notice the actress who plays little Lucy in the Morrisons Christmas advert?

FuckYouDailyMail · 28/11/2016 22:37

I've been rewatching the titles and I think there are more clues in there, they move so fast though. Deliberately I'm sure. There is something about the angle they are shot from, are they all from the same characters perspective?

S1lentAllTheseYears · 29/11/2016 00:27

There will be something in the titles I'm sure - it will be like the fox in series one which Ollie followed and led to him being run over. The fox was there in the titles every week but we only found out the significance of it in the final episode.

Counting down the hours till Wednesday!

mikado1 · 29/11/2016 07:14

Yes Margot I know , which is why I said all those reasons can be explained ! Just thAt pps' comments have made me doubt him a little and those instances could be seen to back that up.

As an aside, I know of course it would be horrendous to hear your daughter was raped but did anyone else think, it's not about you right now Sam? I would hope my father would stay by my side during such questioning.

LillianGish · 29/11/2016 07:29

Watched the most recent episode again last night as DH needed to catch up. Noticed that during Iraq incident there is a clear division between Reed and Stone - Reed seems to be kind one who talks kindly to the little boy, expresses horror at the girl's age "She's just a few years older than Eve". Stone doesn't actually say much - he's the one who shoots the father and who sets fire to the house (is this a foreshadowing of setting fire to the shed - same MO?) He is doing in Iraq exactly what he does in Eckhausen - covering up because he's in a position to do so. That's how Gatterick gets away with it in Iraq and that's how he gets away with it in Germany. I think he does it because they are in it together.

LillianGish · 29/11/2016 07:34

That's why there are two girls - maybe Sophie is Getterick's girl and Alice was Stone's. Maybe they took Lena for Reed - she would have been 16 (so not underage). It appears they both died around the same time.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 29/11/2016 07:40

My theory is that Stone and Driller are related. The Army connection being incidental to the main relationship, but used cover up the crimes.

I think Gettrick's creepy uncle (who may be Swiss, to account for property ownership there) had sisters, who married Stone and Getterick's mother.

What we need to find out tomorrow:

  • detail on how and why two girls were taken
  • how were they kept and what happened to them
  • who had babies and are they still alive
  • why was Lena taken when older (but still same age as S&A)
  • who was the body in the shed
  • how was the whole reappearance-shed plot intended to work (esp as Driller said he was very cautious in his planning) and which bits were reworked on the hoof
  • role of Stone
  • significance of the timing of Reed's death and what really happened to him (and remember to tell Ilsa)
  • justice for the lovely Jorn
GrumbleBumble · 29/11/2016 08:01

Can we add Baptiste to have surgery to that list so we can have series three to speculate about?

OutwardBound2016 · 29/11/2016 08:07

AllPowerful, great summary and the family connection might be right......DH is out tomorrow and has forbidden me to watch without him, I may have the LTB

LillianGish · 29/11/2016 08:25

If Stone and Getterick are related I think Eve would have been to Getterick's house. I don't think anyone has been to his house - he wouldn't have wanted anyone in there. Also if they were related Eve might have turned to him after her Dad became ill. I think Getterick is someone who very much flies under the radar - hence Sam's reaction when Julien mention his name. I think the Swiss property is just a plot convenience (i.e. noone has really thought through the ins and outs of owning property in Switzerland). It being in Switzerland will help Julien to trace him through the Swiss Francs left behind at the house - if it was elsewhere in Germany or in France there would be no such clue.

LillianGish · 29/11/2016 08:26

Forgot to add, what the three (Driller, Stone and Reed) seem to have in common is none of them has a wife in the picture (Stone and Reed must have had them once, but they are no longer around).

LillianGish · 29/11/2016 09:01

I wonder if Stone's secret we have yet to uncover has something to do with his wife. Is she dead? Are the diveorced? Funny to have no mention when one daughter is acting as surrogate for the other - suggesting a close family. No "Mum would have loved this", "Mum would have been so proud of you", just a rather strange ref to Eve's own birth.

LillianGish · 29/11/2016 09:02

Apologies for utter indulgence of three (now four!) posts in a row Blush

MoonfaceAndSilky · 29/11/2016 09:25

I'm going out Wednesday night. Confused

Don't be so ridiculous Grin

MoonfaceAndSilky · 29/11/2016 09:28

I wonder if Stone's secret we have yet to uncover has something to do with his wife. Is she dead? Are the diveorced?

Yes, I think this could be important, who is/was his wife?

Fiderer · 29/11/2016 09:32

Indulge away Lillian Grin

I don't think there's any related stuff going on. More likely bonds from past and present (?) misdeeds and/or blackmail. But find it hard to figure out how the Brig would be involved in abusing the basement trapped, malnourished, terrified girls. 2 total sociopaths?

SarahJessicaParkersLostCurls · 29/11/2016 09:47

Lillian, there was definitely something odd about the conversation in the truck in Iraq. Did Stone say something like 'we thought she was older?' I think it's possible he was also sleeping with the Iraqi girl?? Oh I don't know! Can't wait for tomorrow night!

MmmCuriouSir · 29/11/2016 10:32

Can someone tell me how Jorn knew to go to the drillers house? I must have missed that bit....

LarkDescending · 29/11/2016 10:37

Jorn telephoned Lena's mother. In their (offscreen) conversation he learned that Gettrick had been a friend of Lena's family and made the link in that he also knew Alice's family. The rollercoaster photo showing both girls meant that their disappearances must be linked.

MmmCuriouSir · 29/11/2016 10:38

ah! Thanks- much appreciated! :)

GrumbleBumble · 29/11/2016 10:51

Lark I don't think Jorn thought of Gettrick as involved/a suspect until Lucy talked about Mummy and me in the basement. If he did suspect him he would have been more careful, taken backup or at least told someone where he was going. The photo showed Lena and Alice and Sophie were linked I think he was just expecting background from Gettrick as he had known her before she disappeared.

TheBruteSquad · 29/11/2016 11:13

Has anyone else had a look at the IMDB cast list for tomorrow's episode? (I won't say much because I know that was classed as a spoiler on the Series 1 thread). It doesn't give a lot away but think it could give a clue as to whether or not there will be a series 3.

Also, I can't remember when was the photofit of the abductor released, was it around the time of the abductions? Because it looks very like the butcher and not like Gatterick.

TheBruteSquad · 29/11/2016 11:19

Sorry for the double post. Just thought of something else!

This is the photo that was up in Stone's office (and it's in Julien's file). Can't tell if Sam/anyone else is on it though, although their younger self could be played by a different actor.

I don't think Gettrick and Stone will be related, because wouldn't Eve ring him instead of Sam when she needs someone to watch her Dad while she goes to the theme park?

THE MISSING IS BACK - part 4
THE MISSING IS BACK - part 4
LarkDescending · 29/11/2016 11:49

Grumble yes, that must be right. Just before Lucy came down the stairs Jorn was saying "I was hoping, since you knew the family, you might...".

AlasEarwax · 29/11/2016 12:10

I haven't read any of this new thread yet... You lot talk too fast for me!!

I'm rewatching series 2, ready for the finale on weds. Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but I've just watched the part where Eve and Sam were chatting outside the hospital. Sam's about to be discharged and Eve's having some fresh air after having the baby. I know it was mentioned before about Eve saying 'yes sir' when the brig took her back inside but this time I really payed attention to what the brig said to his daughter.

Brig - "that's enough fresh air for you. Back inside"
Eve - "yes, sir"

That sounds even more odd to me now that I'm watching it again and now I know more. It sounds like something gettrick would say to one of the girls.
