As part 3 is full.

I'm having a day off due to illness, so am planning a re-watch from the beginning as have got used to the time switches that confused me at first. Quite looking forward to it - will pay extra attention to all things yellow, legs in fireplaces and anything else that you suggest. Probably cover my eyes at the drilla moment again though!

Thanks lizard

So why was there a 10yr wait till got put on lighter duties

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 17:07

There wasn't.

He recovered from 1991 beating, carried on, was posted to Afghanistan in 2001 and injured there (nfd) leading to reassignment of duties on medical grounds.

SapphireStrange · 30/11/2016 17:09

Lark. Yes.

So why was there a 10yr wait till got put on lighter duties Yes, I've been wondering this.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2016 17:12

So two wars 1991 and 2001 - sorry being thick

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 17:13

Stone refers to Sam coming under fire with his unit in 2001 or 2002 I think. And then talks of "3 souls lost". It's in Episode 4 while Sam is babysitting Brig, and Eve is at the rollercoaster place with Gemma. Do we know it was Iraq or could it have been Afghanistan (with Driller)?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 17:15

I'll check ep.4 but I really did think it was Iraq.

The 'souls lost' phrase is more Navy than Army, but though very old-fashioned us sometimes used to refer to deaths in combat.

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 17:19

Brig may have been confusing 1991 with 2001/2 of course. Immediately after the 3 souks comment he loses lucidity. But I thought 2001 must be significant and we will hopefully find if/out why tonight.
So excited!!!!Wine Chocolate

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 17:26

He said 2010, Basra. Then that his (Sam's) unit came under fire, '3 souls' pause. 'I'm sorry about what happened to your daughter'

(ep.4 starting at 30m17)

First 3 episodes are no longer on iPlayer.

Just wondering why Brig remembered that incident. For there were so many incidents of hostile fire and lives lost or lives changed by injury around that time.

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 17:38

Yes that's why I think it must be significant. But 2010 doesn't fit at all Confused
I was most put out that Episodes 1-3 disappeared (TIDAY OF ALL DAYS when I took a sickie so I could do some stealth re-watching, I really wanted to see ep 2 again!)

Marmitelover55 · 30/11/2016 17:39

Can't wait - only 3 hours and 20 minutes to go! Have got supplies in too WineCake

MrsderPunkt · 30/11/2016 17:45

I can't remember ever having such frustration in waiting to watch something on the television. I'm going to have to go and clean the living room or something to hurry things along, as whiling away the hours on here isn't working right now. I NEED ANSWERS - and for the electricity to stay on, the skybox to work, and the internet signal to be good enough to keep up with the messages on here. Sadly 2 of the three are dodgy at the moment.

I won't be posting whilst it's on!

I'm about to go and cook, which will take up some of the intervening time. As will strangling DH because he's opened the wrong bottle of wine Or should I pop down to the shed for a drill? Grin

LillianGish · 30/11/2016 17:52

I am so grateful to everyone who has contributed to this thread. It really has increased the enjoyment ten-fold being able to ramble on and 'listen' to others for hours! I second that. Will miss the thread as much as the programme.
Lark your post made me laugh out loud. Hope you are feeling OK - plenty to take your mind off whatever it was.

GrumbleBumble · 30/11/2016 18:13

Step away from the shed Allpowerful

GColdtimer · 30/11/2016 18:33

I have so many frustrations tonight. DH is IN when he was going to be OUT. How dare he (he hasn't watched any of this series but has a terrible habit of walking it on the last episode and asking stupid questions. I know, I should LTB.

And DD had an audition on Sunday and finds out tonight if she has made the show. They said they would post the cast list on their website about 9. So if she's in she is going to be too excited to sleep and if she's not she is going to be so upset. Honestly, 9 o-bloody-clock. Its obviously been a while since these people have had young children.

FFS.

Sorry, rant over.

I won't be watching live and must stay away from the thread.

AmIthatbloodycold · 30/11/2016 18:52

I am disproportionately excited. I can't wait

whyistherumgone · 30/11/2016 18:53

I think I have enough snacks for 9pm....

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 18:57

Haha I just went out and got myself a whole bar of green aero!!!! (No Matchmakers in local shop Shock)

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 18:58

Are those Matchmakers lurking under your giant bar of chocolate why? Gutted Envy

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 19:05

I have snowy rocky road that is already gently singing to me

JungleWait · 30/11/2016 19:09

I'm going to take my junk food out too :-D

MillieMoodle · 30/11/2016 19:14

Nice one Why! That lot should keep you going.

Preparations are being made here...

I'm currently doing dinner, DH is under strict instructions that everything that needs to be done, is to be done by 20.50 and silence will be required from then on. I hope suspect he will go off to bed and leave me in peace. He referred to it as "your boring programme" Shock.

Poor DS1 will be packed off to bed as soon as we've eaten. DS2 hopefully won't need milk until just after 10. The peanut M&Ms have been hidden at the back of the cupboard so DH doesn't get his hands on them they're mine, all mine.

Honestly cannot remember ever being so excited about a tv programme. I second what others have said, will miss this thread almost as much as the programme itself. They had better make a third series!

storminabuttercup · 30/11/2016 19:15

I've been to Aldi for sea salt truffles and I have wine chilling!
