As part 3 is full.

I'm having a day off due to illness, so am planning a re-watch from the beginning as have got used to the time switches that confused me at first. Quite looking forward to it - will pay extra attention to all things yellow, legs in fireplaces and anything else that you suggest. Probably cover my eyes at the drilla moment again though!

Sapphire ?

Watch it. And that's an order!

SapphireStrange · 30/11/2016 15:10
Grin

Really, I can't – well, don't want to. DP would be upset.

MillieMoodle · 30/11/2016 15:12

Sapphire. A birthday? How very dare he! I hope said "friend" realises what you are going through so that he can celebrate his birthday Grin

altik · 30/11/2016 15:21

Maybe he discovered something which he kept quiet. Yes, I agree; the original investigation reeks of cover-up.

Yes, I think this too. I think the Brig is corrupt / covered up / irresponsible / guilty of something but I don't think he'll have a direct involvement. I think Adam was acting alone.

However, I think something happened in 2001 - something which will be revealed tonight. I think this will explain why Adam suddenly changed jobs, why he then abducted Sophie and I think it will implicate the Brig in some way. Indirect guilt, like Iraq. I think this will be the reason why the Brig kept quiet / covered up after Alice's returns and I think it will explain his later actions / ambiguous behaviour without him being directly involved.

SapphireStrange · 30/11/2016 15:29

Millie, so do I!

altik, I agree with you.

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 15:30

Agree about 2001

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 15:31

Sapphire withdraw all favours.

whyistherumgone · 30/11/2016 15:31

I had plans tonight which I was really grumpy about. Had to hide my relief/glee when friend phoned to say she couldn't make it.

My priorities are fine, right?!

GoldenGumballs · 30/11/2016 15:34

5 and a half hours to answers!! Do you think Gettrick hates the girls fathers so much he's doing a payback thing? I bet Sophie's dad was an army man and I think the whole army thing has to be central to the story.

Jetcatisback · 30/11/2016 15:35

I absolutely cannot wait for tonight. I've put my tree up today, got wine and chocs in etc to have a nice cosy atmosphere Grin

I do think Lucy may be Alice'a, and I have a slight niggle re Eve's involvement so I'm really hoping all the answers are provided tonight!

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 15:36

We've had a partial explanation of why he changed jobs in 2001 - he had been in Afghanistan, was injured and moved into a PR job rather than take the medical discharge he was offered. I suspect Stone might have had a hand in arranging things to he could keep stay on (they wear the same cap badge, even though a Brig should wear a general staff one, so are same regiment). Sam is in a different one.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 15:40

DH has watched all of it this week (and I've re watched with him)

I'm planning to open a good bottle of red.

I've never watched it 'live' with anyone else, and he'd better not be irritating!

I hope someone tells Ilsa what happened to Reed Senior - only Julian and Jorn know about her, I think, so as Jorn can't tell her, I hope Julien does (or we see him entrust the task to Gemma). I think we do need to know what happened to him, as I suspect it's a precipitating factor in the rest of the events of Dec 14.

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 15:42

blackcat I have no provisions for myself. Am going out now to get Matchmakers Grin

SapphireStrange · 30/11/2016 15:44

Grin shalli.

I want some Matchmakers now.

whyistherumgone · 30/11/2016 15:57

Hadn't considered snacks. Off to do a grocery shop in a minute, matchmakers and pringles may fall into my basket.

LillianGish · 30/11/2016 16:02

Saphire can't you watch it tonight and not tell DH then watch again with him? I always watch at least twice anyway - can't me it all in otherwise.

ktel1 · 30/11/2016 16:02

Why is it that we get so obsessed with this series?

I have never been this way about any other program.

I suppose it's because we have this drive to solve a mystery and because it taps into our active imaginations?

I will be managing my expectations for this final episode.

After all of our theorizing it's inevitable that not every aspect will be explained to our satisfaction.

I was happy with the final episode of season 1 but I know that many people were not and I think that was because people were so deeply invested in the outcome.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 16:04

I think, ktel1 it's because of the multiple timelines, so developments in one ripple to the others and there's a gradual unfolding from various points of view. It's one of the very, very few programmes you really have to pay attention to when watching it, so that makes the audience more invested too.

Iggity · 30/11/2016 16:12

Won't be able to watch it until 10 hrs after you get to see it as in Japan. Only hope the vpn and iplayer plan works!

SapphireStrange · 30/11/2016 16:14

Lillian, no, my face would give me away if I tried to say I hadn't watched it!

shallichangemyname · 30/11/2016 16:23

We need to be like that Mnetter who accidentally ordered £40 worth of knobbly bobblies. £40 worth of Matchmakers, now you're talking - they were on offer in Tesco last week and I had 2 boxes....

Iran was 2001?

When was Sophie taken - she was first? Then Alice then Lena

What timeframe ?

Still think lucy is Alice's not Sophie even tho called her mummy

And how very dare dh go out and forbid you from watching

I would watch if I could tonight but can't due to work :(

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 30/11/2016 16:58

Iraq (not Iran) was 1991 (First Gulf War just ended).

Gettrick was in Afghanistan and invalided to lighter duties (in Germany, presumed) in 2001. Just before the girls went missing.

Sam did an Iraq tour (Stone mentioned it in conversation) in ?2003

LarkDescending · 30/11/2016 17:00

I had a hospital procedure today and insisted on no sedation so that I could be home in good time, clear-headed and able to imbibe Wine this evening.

My priorities are normal, right?
