Gosh I remember that day ice and Rich. The hotel was further away from where I had parked than I thought and it was tipping it down. I looked like a drowned rat!

Ilovelblue · 03/01/2017 14:56

Sheffield is a bit far for me, sorry, and Leicester further still. Was he not thinking of Leeds at one stage?

YorksOAP
And another here Lacey, all you ff writers have made my year, I have enjoyed reading them all more than once! Thank you. Don't think the family realise the books unread on my tablet are all OG😋

rich check out www.livefortheoutdoors.com/walk1000miles/ basically you can set your own rules, I've worked out a three mile ish route I can do near me, which includes a coffee shop about two thirds of the way round! I'm only likely to be able to actually do a decent walk (ie about three miles!) one of two days a week, so might as well make it as enticing as possible!

DreamsAndFairytales · 03/01/2017 20:33

Thank you ladies. My NY resolution is to actually write more. I started a book this year, and I've done chapter one and the ending but nothing in between 😂 should probably try to finish that lol.waiting on my muse to throw some OG inspiration at me 😂

Pleasantly surprised to find 3 sleeves of rosabaya coffee pods on my countertop waiting for me when I got home earlier. OH really is one of a kind ;)

Ilovelblue · 03/01/2017 22:19

How did the training day go mooj? How many OGisms did you manage to slip in?

What a long day it seemed at work today. Everyone said the same and we were complaining how tired we felt.

Can I have a moan? Most of you know I have an elderly friend who I visit every few weeks. Her husband is very poorly and is bedbound with carers twice a day. She is difficult to buy presents for, especially as her birthday is very close to Christmas and she doesn't go out much because of her husband. This year, I offered her a couple of hours gardening instead of a present and she thought it was a good idea. I rang last night and said that as long as the weather is ok this weekend, I will go round and do a general tidy up for her or anything else if she would prefer. I got this email tonight. I am soooooooo cross. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth:

I was so surprised when you suggested gardening this week because I read in Alys Fowler's article at the weekend that we should not do anything until the spring!!! For the butterflies and moths! She says we can prune apples and vines and mulch as long as the ground is not frozen.it says don't dig or pull or cut back until winter is well and truly over!!!!! But if you fancy coming for a tidy up that's fine or do you want to leave it until the spring?

Maybe I should put this on one of the AIBU threads, but honestly, wouldn't you have been cross at her tone? I think it was the exclamation marks which really wound me up the most.

Ilovelblue · 04/01/2017 20:27

Ooops, have I killed this thread then with my question!?

KeziaOAP · 04/01/2017 21:07

Must admit ilove I now leave seed heads until spring for the birds and also to protect perennials vulnerable to cold weather, after years of cutting back and losing plants.

Rhubarb01 · 04/01/2017 22:26

Well ilove I would have been sorely tempted to say "Seeing as you're such an expert - do it yourself!!!!" - it was a bit cheeky.

I couldn't get on here yesterday due to t'internet problems which bizarrely fixed themselves after about eighteen hours - very odd.

My New Year's resolution is also to walk more. I started walking to work as much as I could a few weeks before Christmas which is about a three mile round trip or 30 minutes brisk walking each way. Mind you it's got to be dry or I'd look like a drowned rat by the time I arrived. I will try to keep it up in the hope that it will counteract the cake and wine Grin

Ilovelblue · 04/01/2017 22:35

I have had to bite my lip but I had similar (if more crude) thoughts to yourself Rhu. I'm a pretty good amateur, though I say it myself, so I wouldn't do anything in her garden to harm any plants, any more than I would do it in my own garden. I think it's the fact there were five exclamation marks after one sentence as if I was a naughty schoolgirl which p*ssed me off more than anything.

My two best friends have problems with ill parents at the moment. One's father has been given 6 months to live and the other mother, nearly 90, is in hospital with blood clots and is severely anaemic. It's been like an episode of Holby City at Ilove Towers tonight.

Night all.

Richtea19 · 05/01/2017 10:27

Thanks for the 1000 mile link nickel. I don't think I can commit myself to that, but I am going for a walk today and hoping to do 5 miles. Started to change my gym routine as well. I'm going to start doing Pilates. More gentle on my old bones.

ilove I think you have been very restrained I would of told her where to go!!

moojangles · 05/01/2017 20:46

ilove, reckon you should tell her to read your t and c's & that goodwill is only valid when it is appreciated, you did well not to rise to that. Sadly training day was mainly sit & listen day, and try to stay warm as the venue predated central heating, so I did in fact mumble a few appropriate profanities. Also found out that 'to diarise' is considered a verb- didn't think it could worse than incentivise!

moojangles · 05/01/2017 20:51

Posted too soon! Resolutions wise, well definitely more walking-we always take the dog out for long weekend walks. Otherwise, trying to get in and stay in good physical & emotional health & get back into allotment properly. Also keeping the low slung combat dreams alive

Ilovelblue · 05/01/2017 23:33

I may well quote my T&Cs on Sunday mooj. I like that idea. I have had to keep a lid on my temper though I felt like ringing her and telling her not to insult my intelligence.

Also mooj that last resolution re combats won't be difficult to keep??

YorksOAP
Brilliant news Nickel and still in England we do need him to stay here and not disappear to the USA
All we need now is to hear he is in the newOG. You are all so good at keeping us non techies up to date

KeziaOAP · 06/01/2017 16:03

Thank you nick he looks very scrummy in that pic Grin

Rhubarb01 · 06/01/2017 17:57

Evening! I read the article. The play sounds a bit strange but then so did Fleabag and that turned out alright. From a timing point of view it sounds perfect should there be a possibility of being in series 3 of OG. I just really hope he has a meatier role if he is in it. The problem is that I just feel it needs Molly to make that role into something more significant and that's not very likely. Without Molly he'll just be behaving like everyone's conscience and sounding board again or sitting about in a certain person's tent with his bum parked on the desk flashing his big watch and looking concerned. I've said it before but I'd really enjoy a series with both of our 'girls' in it together . It would certainly give the series a new dynamic or failing that maybe Jackie? Preferably Molly though.

pixieg1rl · 06/01/2017 18:55

Wine? I hope it's just the one glass or else disapproving daughter will start pulling faces Rhu

Nickel45 · 06/01/2017 19:02

Getting a bit arty in his old age, isn't he! I don't reckon they'll start filming in the next couple of months, will they, if TG hasn't written the scripts yet? Although maybe he'll get his finger out? I guess they need a decentish script so they know who to cast ... Can they do that in a couple of months? And given the weather in SA don't this need to start filming ASAP (sorry, couldn't resist that?) to be able to get it all done, unless I suppose they film a lot more over here. After S2 I'm not as excited about S3, guess we'll have to wait and see what happens, just hope they don't tell us the whole plot before it airs. That definitely ruined it a bit for me last time.
Look, rambling now, feel the need for chocolate now you've mentioned it rhu!

Ooh. Is anyone planning on watching MKs new role as Tina Moore? Can't understand why they cast a Mancunian as an Essex girl, am reserving judgement, but will watch it as my dad knew her before she was a WAG (TM not MK, obvs!)

Rhubarb01 · 06/01/2017 20:04

Pix I bribed DD to shut up with a spare box of chocolates - in any case she's not too well at the moment so can't be bothered. Might have been slightly more than the one glass but I have eaten a largish dinner and some chocolates to absorb it.

Nickel I imagine that TG started bashing away at the old typewriter fairly soon after the end of Series 2 seeing as series 3 was announced straight away - well that's what happened in my imagination as he was fueled with enthusiasm and all the wonderful suggestions from ourselves as to what would make series 3 fantastic Grin. Realistically I expect he had some ideas of what he was ideally going to do although more research would have been needed if it's going to be a disaster relief type story OR maybe not as we will find out! I assumed that if they hoped to bring out series 3 in September/October that filming would start April/May time as before. I agree I don't really want to know too much about the story in advance apart from the cast list!

I might watch the Bobby Moore thing but I haven't watched any of those biopic stories (Cilla, Mrs Biggs etc) so I'm not sure. I'm looking forward to 'Endeavour' at the weekend. I don't like 'Lewis' and wasn't mad about 'Morse' but I have a soft spot for young Morse in this although it will be weird to see The Brigadier from 'The Missing' back as Fred Thursday. I watched 'The Halcyon' too on Monday which was alright. I'm surprised they put it out on a Monday as it looked more like a Sunday night drama but then I suppose they didn't want to compete with Sherlock (fell asleep while that was on New Year's Day and apparently didn't miss much that made sense according to DD and DH).

Nickel45 · 06/01/2017 20:24

Oh yea, forgotten about Endeavour, I really like that too. I've taped the Halcyon, but not had time to watch it yet. Also Death in Paradise is back, which I also really like, and I've still got Granchester taped to watch ... Just need to find some time now!

Ilovelblue · 06/01/2017 22:11

Evening everyone. What a lovely photo of BA. Something to drool over when I go to bed! I did like that the article described BA's character as being in a neon hazed insomnia in which the lines between reality and fantasy are blurred. Not sure about the neon hazed bit but I think we are between reality and fantasy in our dreams of CJ/BA.

Took all the Christmas decorations down as soon as I got home tonight and it's nice to see everything back to normal again, but it does look a bit bare.

Thank goodness it's the weekend. It's been a real struggle at work this week. Everyone has been saying the same. I've not had any wine or chocolates like Rhu but I made tartiflette tonight for tea (ultimate comfort food). It was so comforting, I fell asleep later on! I think it's time for bed.
soon.

Have a nice weekend!
