I watched The Halcyon, quite enjoyed it but not really a Monday night sort of program. I watched Death in Paradise on catch up this eve and still can't get over that little lizard is computer generated!!!

Lovely BA pictures Wink

Nickel45 · 06/01/2017 22:42

Is it really computer generated? I never knew that!

MaddieMoo82 · 07/01/2017 08:34

Morning all. Sorry bit rubbish at posting last few days. No years resolutions here... I can never stick to them! Good luck with all the walking though to those doing it, sounds fab.

Mrmads wants to watch taboo tonight on BBC 1. Not sure myself but it has got Tom hardy for me to enjoy!

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2017 08:53

Must be something in the air, I was asleep on the sofa by about 9:30. Got to crack on with organising son's birthday party. Whole class to be invited and games etc organised by me. Hoping to rope in a couple of other mums to help. Any suggestions for games to entertain 20+ 5-6 year olds gratefully received!

MaddieMoo82 · 07/01/2017 08:59

Whole class pix?? Shock blimey.

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2017 09:15

I know! I'm hiring the village hall.

icemistOBE · 07/01/2017 10:23

I'd hire a bouncing castle, do good in little bags like a picnic. And have a few games like musical bumps, pass parcel in case is needed.

Your rave pix hope you have plenty of wine for the adults!

Both the boys are summer babies so I was fortunate to have their parties in the garden, we had a mixture of bouncy castles, magicians and entertainers and in my experience they just end up playing. It's always good to have some organised games but my lot used to just run around like wild things! Confused

I fancy watching Taboo tonight, for Tom Hardy. Wasn't there some press pictures of him semi naked during filming??? Hope so!

Richtea19 · 07/01/2017 10:36

pix I'm sure your rave! But it was meant to say brave!

DreamsAndFairytales · 07/01/2017 10:37

Hi everyone :)
Oh that photo of BA 😍
pixie the whole class?! Good luck! I second a bouncy castle, kids love them. Maybe facepaints, an art station, pin the tail on the donkey, pass the parcel (in groups), musical statues/chairs, oh and that game with the huge coloured sheet (can't think of the name of it for the life of me). It's always a huge hit with kids.
I'm dreading doing DD's party in the summer - especially as I am supposed to be getting married a couple of weeks later.

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2017 11:08

It's hard having a winter born child. If I could do an outside party I would, but can't risk it in January.

So far we have musical bumps, grandmothers footsteps, pass the parcel (min 2 parcels on the go at any time), piñata and a game where 2 teams battle to pop balloons. MrP was thinking bouncy castle but the hall has beams and I'd be worried about fitting one in.

Nickel45 · 07/01/2017 11:53

Lots of wine for you. Shipwrecked is good, lots of running, gets them worn out. In fact anything with lots of running! Chuck a football in ... Sorted! Can you tell I don't do parties!!!!! DDs party in a few weeks, just for girls. No clue what to do, doing it joint with a friend, she suggested cake decorating. I suggested running outside with a football! Good luck 😉

MaddieMoo82 · 07/01/2017 12:25

My friend had a cake/bisuict decorating party nickel... the kids all loved it but don't think the parents were too happy with all the sugar high children at the end of it after they had eaten all the icing Grin

pixieg1rl · 07/01/2017 13:45

I'm vetoing anything that means lots of cleaning up afterwards. Slightly daunted at how much I need to do. Better get ordering party bag crap contents this weekend

user1471547055 · 07/01/2017 16:31

YorksOAP
Fantastic shots from Ben's new role I wish it was on tv as I can't see DH being persuaded to go to London as it sounds a bit 'way out ' for him well probably me also but not with Ben in it!!

Nickel45 · 07/01/2017 16:43

pix for party bags I buy those collection packs of books from the book people, usually works out about £1 a book, pack of sweets, done. Kids feel they have something, parents happy they don't have morel plastic crap toys.

Ilovelblue · 07/01/2017 22:50

Wow pixie you are very brave. Have you got much further with your planning today?

I am at the other end of the spectrum as I have to entertain a 91 year old lady next Saturday. Don't think she'll be into party games somehow. She was a friend of my mother's and has sort of stayed in touch now and again after my Mum died. She came about 14 months ago and to be fair she is pretty sharp given her age, but she also likes talking about her ailments and barely pauses to draw breath! If anyone has suggestions of how to entertain her, then feel free to tell me!

I am going to see the elderly friend who was very insulting about my offer of a couple of hours gardening as her birthday present on Sunday morning. I can't say I am really looking forward to it now. Hope I manage to keep a lid on my temper.

Ilovelblue · 08/01/2017 20:10

Evening everyone. It looks as if it's been a quiet day on here.

I went to see my elderly friend and had no intention of mentioning her rude email unless she did and certainly she did within the first five minutes. After she said she knew she'd annoyed me, I told her she had in no uncertain terms! Unexpectedly, she started to cry. That really surprised me as I've never seen her cry before in all the 30 odd years I've known her and it threw me a bit. Anyway, I told her I was still here even though others had told me I should leave her to do her own garden so we needed to move on. I cleared one long border which was probably about 20 feet long and just a mass of surface weeds and moss and actually not that difficult to do. Hopefully, she'll be more careful in future not to upset me! I've got to the point where I'm fed up of tip toeing around her and I think she's realised that now.

What has everyone else been up to today?

SoEverybodyDance · 08/01/2017 21:20

Pixie, we once did a party with plastic dinosaurs hidden in sand and ice in a big tray (we put the dinosaurs in balloons in the freezer) and whoever found them got them. There was also a big dinosaur skeleton in parts which they dug out of the sand and fitted together... that went down well.

And I once threaded monster munch on a piece of string and hung it up high for them to eat off the string. I was in the kitchen when a huge cheer went up and I realised that one of the dads had untied it and the monster munch were being eaten off the carpet.

Good luck, it's a bit stressful isn't it!

Ilovelblue · 09/01/2017 19:41

Come on pixie. Spill the beans.

pixieg1rl · 09/01/2017 20:11

I was stopped for lunch and 2 women of advanced years and waistlines walked past me. One wearing a wolf fleece and the other had a fleece with a doe on it. I so hoped it was woof and orphan out on a coach trip together.
