Actually watching today, while waiting for DS to get home, but only seen Danny and Ore (who is he?). Completely agree they seen to have already decided who they want to score high. Like CRH being confrontational.

Ilovelblue · 10/12/2016 19:40

I'm late to the party but having whizzed through Claudia's twaddle, I'm up to date. Need to get the laptop out though as I can't type on my phone: too frustrating!

Ilovelblue · 10/12/2016 19:54

........ but then the cat jumped on my knee and I don't have the heart to disturb him.

Who do we think will go tonight? Ore or Claudia?

Rhubarb01 · 10/12/2016 21:43

Hi everyone. To be honest I got a bit cheesed off by the comments versus scoring and felt that something a bit unfair was going on. I know I'm pro Claudia but I'm getting fed up with her doing great dances and not getting the marks. That quickstep was fantastic but it's as if Craig and particularly Darcy just refuse to admit it's as good as other dances they've given ten's to.

As for who is leaving on the basis of what's going on with the judges if Claudia doesn't get voted through automatically she will be voted off by them no matter what she does in a dance off. I have heard it suggested elsewhere that she is the only celeb left who isn't doing the SCD tour because of gymnastic training and the British Championships in March. Just imagine how little the organisers would like to see a tour on which the winner doesn't take part? I know it's a conspiracy theory, probably not true and a bit silly but I am just fed up with the negative comments every week. I think quite a few other people are too from what I have seen.

Am I slightly over invested this year? Don't answer that Grin

Good morning and best wishes for Christmas and the new year before everything goes completely mad with this reminder of the start (well of mine anyway) of our obsession with BA/CJ. As soon as he walked out I thought WOW who is THIS and I was hooked! More than two years on I still look for everything BA, which at my age is a bit crazy but my other life in Afghan helps me weather the storms of everyday life, so where's the harm? I think we all have this parallel universe to escape to something I can't remember ever happening before
Hope you all have the best Christmas possible from a late starter on your brilliant site

Afternoon everyone. Yorks you are very well organised with your Christmas wishes. I think we can all identify with the OG parallel universe. It's a great place to retreat to, especially when everyday life isn't great.

Maddie and Rhu sorry to hear you're both feeling down at the moment. I always think it's worse at this time of the year because the media likes to make out everyone is happy, all gathered together round a roaring log fire opening presents etc and of course, it's not like that for everyone. There's a lot of pressure I always think.

Rich I am also not a fan of round robins. The husband of one of my closest friends sends one out every year. My friend usually writes cards to her special friends but one year, he did them for some reason I have now forgotten and mine came through the post with his annual round robin stuffed inside. I read it and was so cross I ripped it up straightaway. She and I had volunteered for something which had the unexpected bonus of a couple of perks later on, one of which he was able to share. He pooh-poohed our volunteering day but said he got a "freebie" out of it. I suppose I wouldn't normally have seen the complete fairy tale life he created in these round robins. I've never had once since fortunately. They've had a variety of health and job issues this year so it would be interesting to see how he pitched those to his adoring public.

Sorry, that was a bit of a rant. It was about 7 or 8 years ago now but I can still remember it!

Good afternoon
I wonder who actually enjoys these round robins. I also often tear them up unread as we have enough to do
without them and I would rather read our ff stories!

I am not so organised really but can remember how hectic it was once the schools broke up so decided to get there early.

pixieg1rl · 11/12/2016 17:34

Me. I'm someone who enjoys these round robins. MrP has an aunt who really goes to town on hers, its 60% what she did (she's really into am-dram), what health problems she had, 5% her husband 25% her grandchild, 10% her son, who she favours massively and then she squeezes in about 2 disapproving sentences about her daughter who she really doesn't seem to like. I find the whole thing a fantastic insight into her ego and family dynamics. The year her son gave her a grandchild she never mentioned her daughter once, despite her daughter setting up her own business that year.

Ilovelblue · 11/12/2016 17:46

You've hit the nail on the head there pix - despite the fact you like these round robins and we don't, it is nearly always somebody's ego on show, isn't it?

Ilovelblue · 11/12/2016 17:57

Maybe we could start one of those AIBU threads on round robins!

Ilovelblue · 11/12/2016 20:01

Oh dear Rhu, I hope you're not busy writing to the BBC to complain about favouritism in SCD? When Claudia cried, so did I.

Nickel45 · 11/12/2016 20:04

I have to say. I like the round robins, it's about the only way I find out what's been going on in people's lives, but I think I'm lucky, my friends tend to write short ones. With lots of pictures! Have to admit to writing them in the past, but I don't ever do anything interesting, so they are also pretty short!! This year people will be lucky to get a few lines!! Been finally writing cards and wrapping a few presents which need to be delivered this week. What I can't believe is how I can never remember how much I hate cards with glitter on, and this year I somehow have ended up buying wrapping paper with glitter on. Beyond annoying. Now covered in glitter, sellotape doesn't stick and the rest of the roll I now in the bin. Luckily I've only used it for presents that are going to be opened elsewhere (Xmas WinkXmas Blush).
Hope everyone has had a good weekend :)

Richtea19 · 11/12/2016 20:05

I'm really disappointed, i thought Claudia danced better than Danny. I really don't want him to win! I'm routing for Louise

Rhubarb01 · 11/12/2016 20:59

Evening! Well, I knew she'd gone last night thanks to the spoiler ilove so I didn't trust myself to say anything on here about it. I think the BBC know what people think about it thanks to hundreds of comments on social media. It's the first year I've felt a bit cynical about the results. It just felt a bit engineered this year ,manipulating the scoreboard and the marking very inconsistent. Last week Darcy said she wasn't even watching Danny's feet and didn't care when he made mistakes and gave him a ten anyway. Whereas Claudia was perfect apparently but hadn't found her inner emotion so couldn't get a ten - I feel like yelling, "She's nineteen and hasn't got out much thanks to the small matter of the Olympics - give her a break!"

Ok, that's SCD done. I'm not bothering to watch the final as I just don't care who wins - although if we are going for the idea of the very best dancer then it should be Danny - I'm sorry but the other two just are a bit meh! (Don't hate them but don't care much either - sorry!)

Well, we managed to get to the Bath Christmas Market this morning. Thanks to impeccable timing we got there just as everything opened and before the hoardes so we were able to see what was on offer everywhere before it became impossible to get near anywhere or move. DD has some pics but by then it was absolutely teaming with people. I will see if she can assist me at some point with them. By lunchtime we'd had enough - it was like swimming against the tide. I've always liked Bath. It's lovely for shopping and it has character and atmosphere but it's a bit too much on a weekend in December!

Right, going to brave the last episode of 'My mother and ....' to see if manages to strike any emotional chord in me whatsoever - if not just call me Claudia - I could name change to that couldn't I just to show solidarity ha ha! Grin

KeziaOAP · 11/12/2016 21:24

Much preferred Claudia's performance in the dance off..... maybe I'm biased she's from my area......now rooting for Louise.

rhu haven't been to Bath Christmas market for a couple of years, last time was so crowded couldn't get near stalls without being pushed and crowded, that was mid morning, reckon you did right by going early.

Ilovelblue · 11/12/2016 21:33

I knew she'd gone too Rhu as I look on the William Hill website to check up on our "investment". We will do best if Ore or Louise win but will still make something if Danny wins - he has been favourite all along.

I've not been as interested this year whereas in previous years I've been glued to it and would watch It Takes Two at least a couple of times a week as well. I think this year my problem has been not even knowing who half of them were.

I can just imagine CJ and Molly wandering around the Bath Christmas market. In fact I think a few of the ff have featured them at the market??

I'm watching My Mother and other Strangers but just wish something would happen. Half an hour to go and it's just so drawn out.

I've been spraying some corkscrew hazel twigs today to bring in as a decoration and have left them by the fire to dry off. I'd put some in a big glass vase and then the cat jumped onto the newspaper they were on. I am sure he will have a silver bum when he wakes up!

Ilovelblue · 11/12/2016 21:37

Kezia that reminds me, I tried some of that apple tart ice cream last night which I found in Sainsburys. I now need to make another apple cake to go with it! I have plenty of apples in at the moment.

Rhubarb01 · 11/12/2016 22:30

Well I watched it and all I can say is..."Call me Claudia!" What a flipping mess of an episode that was. I've come to the conclusion something's wrong with the editing. It was just all over the place. Do you think they were angling for another series as it made no sense at all and I just didn't care about any of them. I was watching with DS and we just kept laughing at Rose and her staring eyes, mouth continually dropping open and nervous, breathy lines. This won't go down as one of my TV highlights of 2016.

Kezia we went to the market about six years ago and were there late afternoon on a Saturday and we also couldn't get anywhere near the huts and it was almost claustrophobic so aiming for the Park and Ride when it opened was a good plan. I'm ashamed to say that despite all the the lovely things on offer the only item I bought was some special dog biscuits as a Christmas present for the four-legged. DD's were looking for some presents for friends but it was a little too pricey for their pockets. There were also some good buskers there today.

Rhubarb01 · 11/12/2016 23:13

Yorks just noticed flicking through channels that Michael Ball and Alfie Boe have a show on ITV now - was it you or Kezia who like them? Hope you are watching or will watch later/

user1471547055 · 12/12/2016 09:07

Morning everyone
Thanks Rhu yes it was both of us actually so will look on catch up
Watched My mother which was its usual weird self until the last few minutes. So a really unfinished end but not bothered about a second series!! Just do an extra OG PLEASE BBC

Alwaysfrank · 12/12/2016 09:21

Morning all - just checking in after a few weeks absence. It's been a bit of a struggle recently with everything I need to do at this time of year (3 kids birthdays as well as Christmas) coupled with a week or so of a terrible bad back then currently a nasty cold. I've been trying to battle on and get everything done but nearly lost the plot yesterday- half way through cooking/trying to get the Xmas tree done I went upstairs to find that dh had sloped off for a lie down meanwhile me, feeling lousy is doing everything! He does help a lot normally and I shouldn't really complain but that was a bit much.

I agree totally with the strictly analysis and felt sad for Claudia. Do you think they settle on the scores based on the dress rehearsal then stick to them whatever? It is starting to look a bit suspicious.

KeziaOAP · 12/12/2016 09:36

A thought voiced on local radio this morning re SCD result was BBC wanted Ore to be in final hence him not being in dance off, judges wouldn't have voted Danny out Hmm.

Bought two more packs of the Apple Tarts ice cream I love sometimes these new flavours disappear off the shelves!

Rhubarb01 · 12/12/2016 18:17

Yes Kezia I've heard it mentioned quite a few times that the BBC wanted one of their own in the final. I don't think the the public vote is 'fixed' but I do think the judges have a lot of power as the position on the leader boards makes quite a difference in terms of how many public votes those at the bottom need to stay in. I had my say on it on the SCD thread but I think most people would have liked the last four to be the finalists. I'd love to have seen Claudia's showdance - it would no doubt have been spectacular. I don't think I would have minded who won but I would just like to have seen them all in the final with a fair chance and just a public vote involved as the judges scores don't count.

icemistOBE · 12/12/2016 21:18

Hey

Been busy here, as well as being ill (hubby and 7 yo too) luckily 3 yo has so far escaped the bug.

Can't believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away. I feel rather unprepared this year. But I think that's because we are spending it in Ireland. Mum still in hospital but Dr has said she can come home on Christmas Eve and stay the night.

Anyone gone to tonight's Carol service, Phoebe Waller Bridge aka Fleabag is also taking part. Would have been great to see her!
