Trailer of lots of people with angst and not Phil Collins here. There's another trailer on the Homeland FB page but I can't find a non-FB page to link to. 15th January in US so I reckon 22nd for us - it's usually a week later.

So - Salieri/Dar Adul features prominently and Carrie has some issues with him. Someone's having a torch shone on their pupils - does that mean Quinn's alive but non-responsive? Baby Brodie is now school-aged. Could I be more excited?

Poor lovely Quinn. Sad

northender · 26/02/2017 23:11

Can anyone help re the significance of the holes in the carpet in the apartment opposite Carrie's??

Charley50 · 26/02/2017 23:12

Quinn will be ok he's indestructible.

Charley50 · 26/02/2017 23:14

I think maybe the holes signify an implied tripod, used to take pics of Carrie's apartment.

I've gotta say I've not seen Otto much in this season; I think I must nod off for a bit whenever he's been on.

Summerof85 · 26/02/2017 23:18

I think the holes caused by the stool meant that the stool had been there a while in front of the window or that someone had been sitting on it for long periods ie looking at Carries house.

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 23:24

Yep the holes were from the weight of the man sitting on the stool for hours watching carries house leaving indentations in the carpet.

Charley50 · 26/02/2017 23:32

A tripod style three-legged stool then! Grin

UnGoogleable · 26/02/2017 23:36

Ooh that was a bit tense wasn't it.

Just a sliiiiight over reaction from our Quinn there. Oh dear.

Also just a tiiiny bit unrealistic. There's no way he would have got out of that alive in real life. But I'm glad he did. I think they'll go easy on him because of his severe PTSD and all.

So your daughter has just been involved in a hostage situation / SWAT team shoot out.. so what do you do? Give her a quick hug and send her off to her nannies house for a couple of days while you run around NYC of course!

I was seriously distracted by the Alt-Right TV guy's ridiculous accent which swung between cockney and deep southern USA. I don't get it - the US has a population of over 300 million, and they can't find an actor with an actual american accent?

Jux · 26/02/2017 23:48

Of course Quinn would have got out of there unhurt in real life - he's Quinn, that's what he does fgs! Indestructible.

Carrie annoys me. Not enough to stop me watching and enjoying, but she's a mild irritant. Writer's fault, not actress's. She makes far too many stupid decisions to have ever been in the CIA, be an advisor on security, or anything else.

OneWithTheForce · 26/02/2017 23:59

What's going to happen to Quinn now? They'll have him locked up in solitary confinement or sedated so much he doesn't know who he is Sad

UnGoogleable · 27/02/2017 00:03

Carrie annoys me too. And I agree, its the writer's fault.

She faffed about with the cops when her house was under siege, instead of saying 'look, he's a trained assassin, this won't end well - let me in NOW to talk him down'.

And then when she got in, she knew he was armed and unstable, but just clattered about with her keys then blathered at him. Instead of clearly stating 'I'm opening the door - I'm coming in - there is a SWAT team outside - put the gun down - where is my daughter' uuurgh.

And yeah, she's far too emotionally reactive to be a plausible CIA operative. She'd be cold, hard and calculating in real life. I kind of wish she was, it would be far more interesting.

Charley50 · 27/02/2017 00:09

Agree about Carrie not being suitable for her job (understatement), but she's very watchable with her madcap impulsive ways. She's never going to win a mum of the year competition either..
It annoyed me as well that she was going to leave her apartment with doors and windows smashed in.

UnGoogleable · 27/02/2017 00:13

It annoyed me as well that she was going to leave her apartment with doors and windows smashed in. oh god me too - she's in the middle of NYC and she's about to leave her house with the door wide open??

It also annoyed the hell out of me that she had clear glass windows in her front door, then a second door which also has.. clear glass. In the middle of NYC. Who lives like that?

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/02/2017 02:22

On the plus side, her bipolar seems pretty under control at the moment.

I think Dar is behind it all, to bring down the P-E. Otto also involved (I have a mad idea that he is Mossad)

Carrie will form alliance with Angry FBI man - who looked genuinely concerned when she told him that her source wasn't her source after all - to help resolve things.

FoolandFitz · 27/02/2017 07:40

Am I the only one who doesn't think it's Dar behind it all, rather he is taking full advantage of the situation? At the end of the day Dar is very loyal to the CIA and, therefore USA, but he has some pretty dodgy methods. This is where it comes out he has been a double agent for Iran for the past 6 series

What about an alt-right organisation behind it all? You know, create terror so they can push their own agenda. Maybe I have been lurking too much on the Trump threads. I've got to say that Homeland always seems to have it's finger on the pulse as far as the wider issues are concerned.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/02/2017 08:02

I suppose you are right Fitz it would I'd be too obvious.

Lweji · 27/02/2017 08:11

I agree with the possibility of alt-right involvement.

That radio guy was too much like Alex Jones.
I wonder if there'll be a Bannon behind the scenes. :)

nightswimming1 · 27/02/2017 09:28

Good thoughts Fitz. I guess we are meant to think it's Dar... there is always a twist!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/02/2017 09:31

I feel so sad for Quinn.
Everybody uses him and then discards him.

BlackDoglet · 27/02/2017 12:34

Was the ranting TV guy supposed to be of Irish descent? His character name was O'Keefe. Think he's a British actor.

OneWithTheForce · 27/02/2017 12:36

The rangy guy was fantastic! Really spot on from what I've seen of RL similar ranties.

nightswimming1 · 27/02/2017 12:44

I thought the ranty accent was poor. I started off thinking he was a Brit and then realised he wasn't... bizarre. However the episode was great.

I don't think Carrie could really have done much more for Quinn? Granted it was silly to leave him in charge, but that was an honest mistake. She tracked him down, effectively saved his life, let him move in, tried to call the swat team off, tried to talk him down and then threw herself on top of him so he wouldn't be shot... not sure what else she was meant to do? I'm sure she will continue to support him.

What was odd that after a traumatic day she packed her daughter off with her nanny for a few days - that was unrealistic.

Cocolepew · 27/02/2017 13:43

The accent went from English to Southern to Australian Hmm

Charley50 · 27/02/2017 14:25

Night swimming - Carrie's daughter has often been away from her mum while Carrie's been working or ill. It's quite normal for Carrie's character to leave her with her nanny for a few days.

Charley50 · 27/02/2017 14:28

I loved the 'rabbit babes after me...' 'Peter Quinn?' 'No, Peter Rabbit' exchange.
