Trailer of lots of people with angst and not Phil Collins here. There's another trailer on the Homeland FB page but I can't find a non-FB page to link to. 15th January in US so I reckon 22nd for us - it's usually a week later.

So - Salieri/Dar Adul features prominently and Carrie has some issues with him. Someone's having a torch shone on their pupils - does that mean Quinn's alive but non-responsive? Baby Brodie is now school-aged. Could I be more excited?

I thought she could have recognised knitting lady through the death of her son? Maybe their sons died around the same time?

ZilphasHatpin · 06/03/2017 21:11

I wondered if PE recognised knitting lady from a bereaved forces family support group type thing. Or maybe knitting lady was at some protest or something against PE and was interviewed on camera. It was v suspicious that knitting lady wouldn't get out of car in front of the crowds but PE made the whole show of "not" identifying her (but dropping every fucking clue she could think of that would identify her if a person was so inclined) knitting lady is known for something, and if she had gotten out of that car she would have been recognised.

ZilphasHatpin · 06/03/2017 21:15

Knitting lady's son's death was publicised for some reason I'll bet. I bet there was some sort of dodgy business surrounding his death that maybe PE was involved in.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/03/2017 21:16

I did wonder that, but once PE had the context of Knitting Lady's son she would have remembered if it was a bereavement group.

So I came to the conclusion it's some security Dar led thing. I do love a good conspiracy theory on Sunday evening.

TheFullMrexit · 06/03/2017 23:31

If Astrid is good and I am hoping she is can't bear a single other thing to happen to quinn, why oh why did they inject him before moving him???!

Fiderer · 07/03/2017 07:21

Zebra "surely it's more likely that someone called for, or ordered her help. So Carrie, Saul or Dar?"

Agree, & I reckon Dar. Saul out of the loop re Quinn & Carrie not enough pull any more, the most she can achieve is Max. Lovely though he is, he's a tech guy, nothing else.

So Astrid thinks she's doing good & helping Quinn but she's playing into Darth's hands. Which, if true, would annoy me as Darth is being too pantomime baddie this season. Reckon his comment about Franny's hair foreshadows trouble for Carrie ahead.

Ciutadella · 07/03/2017 08:01

Oh no, Astrid would never be so foolish as to be taken in by Dar. I think from now on things are looking up for Quinn. The injection was so that he wouldn't struggle and alert the staff (though how did Astrid's team get past them?)

Fiderer · 07/03/2017 08:17

Yes, sedative whether goodie or baddie.

But I re-watched & Carrie isn't focussed on Quinn as Quinn, rather on what's going on.
And Saul is far from what's been going on with Quinn.
So that leaves Darth. Don't think Astrid ever had many dealings with him, not enough to realise he is the Dark Darth against the Good Saul.

TheSpottedZebra · 07/03/2017 08:34

Quinn and Astrid were lovers. But I just don't see her as overly sentimental so I don't think she'd sweep in -in a foreign land - just to 'rescue' him. So its probably on Dar's orders or manipulation, maybe to fuck with Carrie.

Ooh - will we see her descend into her bipolar/boozy/paranoid self? Will we get a Wall of Crazy this series after all?

Fiderer · 07/03/2017 08:43

Yes to mess with Carrie, I reckon, and stop whatever nefarious Darth things he's up to.

And I agree, she'll go all loopy Carrie again Just hoping Saul makes All Right. Am a tad fed up of RightButOnlySheGetsItCarrie & Baddie Darth.

Fiderer · 07/03/2017 08:44

*nefarious Darth things being found out I mean

Ciutadella · 07/03/2017 17:23

Ah, you've both answered my question, which was going to be 'why would Dar have Quinn kidnapped, he could just have him murdered?' But yes, it is something to do with getting a hold over Carrie.

Or - Astrid is working for Otto, though I'm not sure what Otto's game is.

Or - Dar is a goodie! Some double bluff type thing, where he genuinely was protecting the PE and now someone else even more hawkish in the CIA is going to take a shot at her.

Loopytiles · 08/03/2017 07:25

Double page Interview with Mandy Patinkin in yesterday's Evening Standard: in it he says Saul is good!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 08/03/2017 07:52

Well, he would, wouldn't he?

Glowing review here from The Guardian

nightswimming1 · 08/03/2017 20:23

Ah yes Otto has "met someone" hasn't he...

HalleLouja · 08/03/2017 20:39

Am going to be controversial here and say that maybe the whole Otto "has met someone" is a bit of a red herring..... Just throwing it out there.

Fiderer · 08/03/2017 20:42

I still think Darth is pulling the strings & Otto is on the sidelines. If anywhere at all.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 08/03/2017 20:46

I think Otto's gone. They needed him to explain how Carrie could have met with the PE, and now they don't need him anymore.

Unless he's a baddie in cahoots with other baddies. Saul

Hassled · 08/03/2017 21:28

I'm quite incensed by that Guardian article. Although in fairness Stuart Heritage winds me up on a regular basis without resorting to dissing Homeland. But to call it "deathly boring"? It might be a bit shit at times and yes, we're all somewhat baffled but I don't think any of us are bored. I doubt any of us are filing our nails and yawning on a Sunday night. The man's a fool.

Loopytiles · 08/03/2017 22:31

Boring?! I can't watch it on sunday night because it makes me feel too edgy, and I am already too much like Carrie as it is!!

Fiderer · 09/03/2017 06:45

Thought the Guardian article would rile the MN Homeland lot. We may criticise & I am no Carrie fan, but heh?

Sorry Grin Couldn't resist!

Cocolepew · 09/03/2017 17:21

Boring? Shock Mundane? Shock Wth!? Hmm
Man's a doofus.
